You wake up that morning, after a series of vivid, disturbing nighmares, feeling feverish.... and with a distinct injection mark in your left forearm. It is swollen, hot and itchy.

Unfortunately, you aren't given that much time to ponder its significance when you feel hot... and itchy.

The itching becomes almost maddening on your chest and neck as long white silky fur begins to sprout before your eyes. Along your shoulders, your collar bone, in a poofy white ruff, but no further out than that.

Then, your ears begin to ache and itch as they swell in size and grow the same poofy white fur.

As you fear that this is only the begining... the changes subside, leaving you with a 'stole' and 'earmuffs'... but nothing more.... yet.

When the girl lay upon the couch, Emerwyn went to fetch her a drink of water.
She returned swiftly, to hear her speak.
It pained her to be honest with her. "It is not yet over. I am sorry."

"I can only imagine so. My memories of it are all but shadows and nightmares now."
She paused a moment, then looked at her hardened hands, then felt her face, which had stretched and horribly contorted. And she began to remember.
"...Yes... it did hurt. More than anything else I can recall." Any physical pain, anyway. "But it will fade. In time." Unlike the other pain.

Emerwyn shook off her pain, and returned to the present, and this girl's pain.

"Well, no one is going to judge you, so have no fear of that. After all, we are all in similar situations, are we not? Some of us have just nearly become monsters."
She thought of Joli, and her boyfriend, David. And of the man who looked like a dragon she'd met at the beach. And she herself, though not dangerous, looked a strange sight indeed, with her heavy brow, and eerily long limbs.
"We are all here for each other," she said.

And Emerwyn smiled in return.

"Of course. And, if ever you need anything, anything at all, do not hesitate to call on me. I am living in Duplex Ninet-" Then, she stopped, realizing that she was not living in Duplex number nineteen any longer. "Number Eighteen."
