ok, this post is a bit off, but oh well sweatdrop This is what i think of the presidential dealie. I dont like bush or kerry. Bush i dont like for his view on gays(youd think in this day and age people would be more accepting.) and i dont like kerry because hes anti-gun. Personally, if someone has an illegally bought AK and they break into my house, i want to be able to shoot back. Because if the bad guys want a gun, theyll smuggle it in, happens all the time in UK and Japan.

hum...i dunno. after this election, even though i supported kerry over bush, i think i've wasted way too much energy on hating bush. i mean, we all survived the last four years, right? it's just another four years...but the gay marriage ban i do not agree with. love is love; other people's marriages shouldn't affect him personally or politically.

I'm a Republican who supported Bush.

I supported him as the lesser of two evils in the first election, but have staunchly supported him ever since what he's trying to do for the Middle East. The importance and magnitude of what we're doing there is more essential than we currently appreciate.

If he manages to help in establishing a Palestinian state, as is his aim in his second term, more power to him. Yes, the violent path we take violates the precept of ahimsa. Yes, we suffer karmic retribution and hatred. But the world is imperfect, and upaya is required to further the betterment of mankind.

Visualize and Tolerate another four years.

The only reason why I don't support Bush is because simply...He's going to reinstate the draft. Which would mean so many young men, including both of my brothers, to go to war--which they don't believe in and don't want to fight in. I mean it's going to happen because he's already reaching into the reserves for fighting men and women...and I don't agree with any type of way--there's really only one type but you know what I mean--and thus I don't support him.

No he's not.

Anyone that says he is, is either misinformed or lying.

Volunteer armies perform much better than larger drafted armies. The President knows this, as do most people who've grown up in the Vietnam era.

Preliminary legislation put forward to push for a draft had about a dozen signatures on it. Not one of them was from a Republican congressman. From what I hear, when the legislation was shot down, a good few people who put their names on it were just as quick to vote against it.

If you remember the first debate, the President stated very clearly that the United States army will remain a Volunteer army. This was coming right after John Kerry stated he was going to double the number of special forces serving and create two new army divisions...

I'm a new member here. I am 23 and I am somewhat intrested in Buddhism.

I'm intrigued about trying to see the world as it really is instead of constantly being preoccupied with my own thoughts. As far as I can see, Buddhism is about being aware of what you are doing.... (maybe a little more) I'll be looking into this more, and will be eager to discuss these things later on... when I'm not preoccupied with going to class like I am now. smile

Moo .. *ponces in*

So sleepy. @.@

My two cents about Bush:

First off, I whole-heartedly can't stand the little bugger. He was responsible for my dad going off to war and nearly dying several hundred times. Oh, and his best friend getting blown up.

So, if you have family in Iraq, and you still support him, more power to you.

But if you don't, please don't even open your mouth.

Because I really, really, really, will find it difficult to keep from ripping your arms off and beating you with them. biggrin

[NOTE: Don't take this personally. And I'd never hurt anyone of course. I was being er .. figurative. xD]
