looks good! Definately keep drawing!!
btw (hope this is welcome info: feel free to tell me to quit being "art teacher", k? wink ) - the B is considered a "soft leaded" pencil... it will give you a relatively dark line, but it's "harder" than the typical do-your-schoolwork (2B) pencil and will give you a lighter line than that one. The H pencils are "hard", and will give you a lighter line. The higher the number on the pencil (whether H or B) indicates how far in whichever direction (hard or soft) the lead goes. SO, in order from softer (darker line) pencil, to harder (lighter line) pencil graphite from those you bought: 4B, 2B, B, HB, H, 2H, 4H. That's a good range.

i'm glad you clarified that again Blais, i couldn't find where you'd mentioned it before sweatdrop i'm finding it so much easier with the B than whatever the other generic pencil was that i was using before, i haven't tried any of the others yet. and 6B? i didn't know they went up that far? how 'high' do they go? i've started on another 'lady' you might recognise now..

Have I mentioned here how I told Jason what I wanted for my birthday (which we have yet to get, seeing as we had to wait for his next paycheck, but then spent last weekend at the cabin!) And I decided I wanted some painting supplies including a horse to prop up my canvas board on, some paper, paints, and brushes, and while Jade's at school I'll use the garage to start painting again. I do feel like I've said this before! But sometimes I dream it and think it happened (like how I dreamt last night they finally got that Alert Button thingie working properly and it actually GAVE us something! rolleyes )
Also, seeing all this avi art and avi edits gets me wanting to learn more about how to do those properly, and that would mean I'd need a pen tablet as well... I love art so much, I've been unfulfilled for years! gonk

I finally remembered to bring my camera to work to take a picture of the watercolor painting that my boss paid for us to take a class on. I tried to get all the glare off the picture but there is a small bit left. I will get it off my camera when I get home and get it saved in my photobucket and post it here. Just don't laugh, it's not very good but I tried and had fun.

Yeah it's totally the process that's more important/fun than the result! And as long as you're satisfied with the result, that's all that matters, because everybody's tastes in art are different. I have some of my own works hanging in my house that I'm sure other people would find hideous. lol

'art' is trully in the eye of the beholder.
unfortunately, it's surrounded by the worst social snobbery on the planet, most people i think are afraid to admit to what they actually like for fear of derision from others( who develop their taste by liking what is currently in vogue) they can stick it up their collectively retentive bottoms as far as i'm concerned, i know what i like, and i don't give a fig what others think of my taste.
and good for you Roo for doing this class, your boss sounds great! they really look after their staff there, i can see why you like working there so much 3nodding
and go for it fawN, paint away all your troubles, that sounds a bit trivial i know, but i'm sure doing something you've missed so much will be great for your well being 3nodding
maybe...you could do paintings of some of your favourite photographs from your recent holidays 3nodding

Poppetta maybe...you could do paintings of some of your favourite photographs from your recent holidays 3nodding I'm thinking I'd be less likely to do landscapes and realist stuff than colorful modern art. And anything with people is hard! Although I did surprise myself when we did nude models in class. I did better than expected! But it would be good to experiment with some landscape type stuff just to practice with different textures and color blending..

I do have a wonderful boss and love my job. I couldn't ask for a better place to work.
It was so strange when we took that class though. I had such a hard time sleeping after both nights of the class. It's like I was blending in my sleep. I do know that it works a different part of your brain and our instructor said that that's our creative sides coming out and doesn't want to be shut off anymore.

WickedLemon It was so strange when we took that class though. I had such a hard time sleeping after both nights of the class. It's like I was blending in my sleep. Urg, I hate when that happens! I call it when something 'plagues my sleep' and I sleep so fitfully and EVERYTHING has to do with whatever it is I can't get out of my head, like Latin, or Calculus, or some kind of weird matching game. Recently I couldn't sleep well because everything in my stream of consciousness had to be matched into pairs of 3 of a kind, having something to do with each other. So when Jade woke me up at 3am to tell me she had a bad dream, I was so busy trying to match what she said into a pattern that I'm surprised something as coherent as "uh, go talk to dad" came out of my mouth. Oh, in high school I remember dreaming I was the dx of a calculus integral and I was busy trying to reform the integral into something that would fit me. Doing math in your head at night isn't fun. neutral
