*freezes momentarily, her face burning, but then closes her eyes and gradually relaxes as his hands start to work some of the tension out of her* I . . . that feels . . . *sighs, unable to find the words she's looking for, and ends up just going with a quiet* Thank ye . . .

*Bard's hands slip through empty air. He clasps them together, chewing his lip thoughtfully.*
well... goodbye then...
*he sighs, gathering the book and papers together in a neat pile. He leaves them on the table, so that Maggie can come back to them if she wants. Turning, he takes a look at the library*
Well now... let's see what this place has to offer....
*he begins browsing the shelves*

*scurries in, tense and flushed, but relaxes a bit and slows her pace as she gets into the room*
*walks over to the table where Bard had been teaching her, seeing the book and papers piled neatly, and smiles faintly as she sits down*
*opens the alphabet book to the first page, picks up the pen she used before, and settles in to practice for a while*

*Bard wakes with a start, sitting up amid a heap of books. He'd only meant to shut his eyes for a moment. He rises, immediately feeling the stiffness in his legs and back. He gathers up half a dozen books and leaves the library for his room.*

*wanders in from the main room, humming softly to herself, and sits down at the table where her work is still spread out. She picks up her pen and continues practicing from where she left off before*

*sets the pen down, taking a break from writing*
*looks thoughtfully at her hands for a moment, then takes a slow breath and closes her eyes in deep concentration*
*reaches her hands out to grasp a small wooden toy horse as it materializes in front of her, opening her eyes as her fingers touch something solid. She stares at it for a moment* . . . Incredible . . . . *sets it down on the table and leans back in her seat, pale and winded from the effort*

*drained and somewhat dizzy, she folds her arms on the tabletop and rests her head on them, quickly drifting into sleep*

*stirs awake after a while, lifting her head and rubbing her eyes* Hmm? *takes a moment to recall where she is* Heavens, I wonder how long I was asleep . . .
*her gaze falls to the table, and her shoulders droop in disappointment when she realizes the toy horse has faded out again on its own* Well . . . I daresay 'twill take a good deal more practice yet.
*stands and takes a minute to straighten up the tabletop*
