Terrance had been sleeping peacefully, still curled up between her dragon's forelimbs, until she was suddenly startled awake but a sudden surge of overwhelming grief washing through her from the link she shared with Evith. Her gold dragon's eyes snapped open and Terrance could see them whirling the brilliant orange of distress. Evith stretched out her neck, keening in the low registers of her rumbly dragon voice, then suddenly trumpeting to a piercing wail.
Without knowing why, Terrance too felt a terrible sadness and longing. She joined her dragon in her grief, tears beginning to tumble down her cheeks. "Evith... what is it? What is the matter?" she asked her dragon silently, reaching out to touch her dragon for comfort.
The young dragon looked down at her rider, her eyes worried and terribly sad. "I'm... I'm not sure myself." "Something terrible. Somebody... a dragon... has passed away into the Beyond. She lifted her head and let out another mourning howl.

Nicholas walked over to Gareth, following Josie. He nodded a bit, and lifted up the handle on the bucket slowly, before sliding the bucket off of Gareth's head.
Gareth shook his head after getting the bucket off, and looked over at Caylith before walking over to her, and sitting next to her, joining her with the keening.
"Hmm?"
Nicholas was utterly confused by this right now, not knowing why they were both doing this or why the other dragons were... And he was starting to get a headache... Well, a bigger one, he still had one from the day before where he broke Gareth's egg with his forehead. There was even a fairly large red mark on Nicholas' forehead.

arrow Infirmary
Tilly plugged her ears against the sound as it hit an unbearable note, something humans are not meant to hear. It rattled in her bones, and from the reactions of the other infirmary trainees, theirs as well. The only ones not affected were the riders and the older staff -they had heard the sound multiple times already, as deaths could be considered common. Like all things, though, the sound began to pass, scaling lower and lower until the dragons fell silent. The oldest of them winged their way to the spot one of their number had vanished, passing over the spot and turning back the way they'd came. It was a final tribute to the fallen -each dragon sharing in the dragon's pain as it followed its life-partner into death. Tilly watched all this before turning away, her eyes stinging with salty tears. Irritably she brushed them away as someone behind her asked the question she had thought before. "What happens to us now? Who will be the new Weyrleader?" An older member of the infirmary with the knot of a master healer on his shirt shook his head, butting into the conversation. "First two queens, and now this. Normally, the senior queen would fly, and which ever bronze could catch her would be Weyrleader. As it is..." Two Weyrleaders? Two senior queens? Or the chance to begin a new Weyr? The current one wasn't even half-filled; it would be ludicrous... Only time would tell.

arrow Weyrling Barracks Caylith saw the other dragons taking flight and went to follow suite, but her wings were still underdeveloped -they flapped uselessly, straining to lift the heavier gold. The dragon was just gaining lift when Josie's mind interceded into her thoughts. "Caylith, you'll sprain something! Stay on the ground!" Loathing every second of it but trusting her rider, the queen stopped -dropping the foot or so she'd gained with a heavy "THUD!". It was in turning her head to catch a glimpse of her rider behind her that Caylith saw the other queen. Instinct took place before courtesy did, and the queen hissed, choking on it halfway through as Josie reprimanded her again for manners. Caylith's eyes whirled a yellow-green, but slowly, the yellow began to fade to blue. Cautious around another queen for fear that she might steal her bronzes, but willing to realize that there were plenty of them to share with another queen.
For her dragon's show of hostility, Josie blushed, turning to the other rider. I'm sorry -Caylith's a little eccentric. Like dragon like rider, eh? She scratched the back of her head, thinking of what to say next. As riders of a gold dragon, the two were equal, but a question Caylith had passed on from one of the bronzes the night before was itching in the back of her mind. Maybe now was as good at time as any to get things cleared up... So which of us is senior, anyway? Our dragons are twins... sweatdrop

As soon as she had stopped mourning, Evith had also bared her small egg-teeth in a snarl at the other queen, eyes quickly swirling yellow from the orange they had been moments before until Terrance hushed her, laying a hand on her head between the dragon's two stubby horns. The gold dragon lowered her head, snapping her jaws shut, but she continued to eye the other queen with suspicion.
Terrance laughed at Josie's remark, coming foward. "That's quite alright," she reassured the other rider. "Guess it's just their instinct."
She gave Josie a puzzled look after her second comment, tilting her head. "Senior queen? Wait... don't we still have a Weyrleader?" She hadn't realized that he was the one, in fact, who had passed away. Then, as soon as Evith looked up at Terrance with a gaze full of sorrow, she didn't even need the dragon to tell her who had died. "Terrance, the Weyrleader is gone now."
"Oh." She gazed down at the ground. After a few moments, she recovered slightly from her shock and looked Josie straight in the eyes, taking a deep breath and squaring her jaw. "Senior queen." She paused. "Y'know, I have no idea which of us is senior. I'm new at this, really." She knitted her brow, slightly embarrassed by the delicate decision that faced the two. She hardly even knew the other rider, and yet they had to decide who would be senior when both obviously wanted the leadership. They were queen riders, after all, competitive by nature and in spirit.

"We should get them some food eh?" Pushing Volgrath off his stomach Yamir would stand up, still in his white robe, cept...well open and revealing. Noticing a slight breeze he'd quickly tie up the robe, he then proceeded to find an pull up his heart boxers in case something may want a little peek. Looking around now he'd look up at her puzzled. "When do we get our clothes back?"
Volgrath simply sat there looking up at his rider, occasionally his jaws would open and snap as his body language said "FOOD!" He'd start thinking about snacking on dramallama 's

Tradition be damned -we're the new queen riders. We make the rules. Though not normally egotistical, the thought of being the "puppet master" of the entire Weyr sounded appealing to the gold rider. Maybe, just maybe... Josie shook the thought away. There were other things to think about. We should meet with the other bronze riders. No doubt they're in a panic thanks to the death of the Weyrleader. It'd be interesting to see them react to us taking charge. Now how do we go about calling th- "Already have!" Caylith's bright voice popped through Josie's voice, the dragon's words carrying over to Evith. As if on cue, several bronze dragon popped out of bewteen overhead, circling lower as they picked places to land. The gold dragon gave something like a squawk and a squeak as the wind form their wing beats carried over, irritating her injured wing. The dragon's eyes closed tightly, and her rider's arm went over her eyes to block the wave of dust the dragons kicked up. ... That was fast. Shall we go meet our public, Ms...?

arrow Wher Cave "I don't know -maybe they'll be waiting for us at the Barracks. We should go see, as I don't want to walk all the way to the Feeding Grounds." Andromeda's dragon nodded vigorously behind her, though whether that was because she was agreeing or rubbing her snouth against the ground, it was hard to tell. The blonde grabbed Yamir's hand and began to drag him out of the cave, Arith speaking to both her and Volgrath. "FOOD!!"

arrow Wher Cave ---> Barracks Stumbling along behind her almost in a comical sort of way Yamir would catch up to her, the hand no longer pulling as much as it was a comfort to him. Strooling along casually he'd make his way into the barracks, Andromeda at his side, and the two hatchilngs following close behind.
'FOOD!?' Reaching the end of the cave Volgrath would would scurry out of the cave ahead of the two, his claws clattering loudly on the ground as his head went on a pivot. His nostrils flared as he searched, his eyes showing orange as he desperately tried to sniff out any source of food. His tail twisted and turned, and flipped along the ground anxiously as he stood up as a dog would as he tried to get his nose up higher, searching for it.

arrow En Route to Barracks
Arith ran ahead to join Volgrath, nipping at his tail playfully as it flicked from side to side. Should she catch it, she would bite -not enough to break the skin, but certainly enough to get his attention- and scramble away through the tall grasses that filled the Weyr. "Catch me, you big brute!" Using a word she'd heard 'Meda use, of course.
Andromeda laughed as Arith went to n** Volgrath's tail. As her and Yamir walked together, the green rider would put her blonde head on Yamir's shoulder -if she couldn't reach it, then she'd lean against his arm. Fingers laced together, she watched with hooded interest as a large wing of bronze dragons circled of the Barracks. From this distance they could see the two gold dragons and their riders, but it was hard to determine features -Andromeda didn't know the tiny woman named Josie had Impressed a gold. As they drew closer, though, that black hair grew awfully familiar... "Josie Impressed a gold? Wow, today is full of suprises." Her usually cold voice, of course, being put into play with that remark.

If a dragon couold smile this would be one of those times. Chasing after the faster green he'd follow her into the grass. His hunger subsiding as his playful young nature took over.
He'd look down at her as she rested against his arm as they walked. A content grin would play across his face, although looking up it's dissapear as he saw the large gathering of dragons. As they neared he saw two girls at the center, neither he recognized from the distance that was between himself and them. Of course thanks to Andromeda's comment he'd give a small chuckle. It was indeed quite a suprise that such a small girl could impress a dragon of that calibur. "I'd like to go say hi, but she seems busy. Keep searching for food?"

"I don't think our dragons would have it any other way." Andromeda would comment as they walked along the large group of dragons gathering outside the Barracks. Arith slithered through the grass on her belly and snuck up to one of the bronzes, her rear end wriggling like a cat preparing to pounce. And pounce she did -the green jumped onot the back paw of a bronze dragon, digging her claws in as he moved. The didn't pierce -much to small for that- and the bronze's neck curved about to prod at the little green's body. His head was nearly twice the length of Arith's body, and with a small draconic chuckle he blew on the hatchling -sending her rolling head-over-heels into the grass. As Arith came to the end of her tumble, the dragon would pick herself up -sitting on her haunches and preening one of her wings with her mouth as if nothing had happened. Andromeda laughed and turned her attention to Yamir, her smile bright. "We'll say hello afterwards. I never thought that she would be one to merit a gold..."

Following thath Yamir would smile at the two, a chuckle supressed.
