I absolutely love Phantom of the Opera, and have two stories about it that really happened.
How's this for obsession?:
There is a contest in my town called Mr. Springville, and High School seniors are the ones who run. One of the contestants, on 'Hero Day' dressed up as the Phantom and gave out red carnations to all the girls at lunch. Roses are expensive, so cut the guy some slack. It's a shame he didn't win. crying
At my school's talent show, a senior guy dressed up as the Phantom, and a sophomore girl and guy played Christine and Roul. They sang a medley of 'music of the night' and 'all I ask of you'. At the end, the Phantom exited, vowing revenge, and a moment later the announcer came out and said 'the Phantom has left a message." he opened a sealed letter and read, 'lest there be any confusion, sophomore guys do NOT get the girl in the end.' They should have won. sad
IS THERE NO APPRECIATION FOR THE ARTS?!!?!!?!!? scream
Roul is such a wuss. scream
I wish my paycheck could come through so I can get POTO on DVD. Or at least the soundtrack. biggrin

Eric_the_Phantom if you've listened to the soundtrack so damn much it's the only thing you can think of so you really feel like the phantom of the opera is there "inside your mind." ((<<---not good when you're trying to do homework)) agreed

You go everywhere with one hand covering half your face as your parents would not let you wear your phantom mask, and are eventually hauled off to the shrink because of it.

You take your AP English final and your free response essay is about Christine's battle between conforming to society (choosing Raoul) or listening to her impulses (Erik) as relating to Leroux's book and Kay's book. I did this today.
You make PotO flip-comics (you know, one picture on each page, flip through the pages and it moves) on the sides of your math test. (Mine had Erik throwing his punjab lasso)

You consider the word "fop" to be one of the greatest insults in your vocabulary.

You draw Raoul as a kitten and Erik as a puppy and call them your "American Love Kitten" (Meant for Patrick Wilson) and "Scottish Love Puppy" (Meant for Gerard Butler). I've done both!
