when i frist started learning japanese i went on a website to learn and it said that nihon-go = japan
and nihon-jin = japanese person

and it said
amerika-go = america
and amerika-jin = america person

is that right or wrong a little confused correct me if i am wrong

日本語=にほんご=Nihongo=Japanese language not Japan
日本=にほん=Japan
アメリカ=America
英語=えいご=Eigo=English
And yes jin is used to describe nationality.

Amerikago doesn't really mean much. What it would literally translate into would be "American Language," but usually people just say Eigo, which means English. Unless people are talking about American dialect. America in Japanese is just Amerika, not amerikago.

Just like Nihon is Japan, not nihongo. Nihongo = Japanese language.
Basically, just remember it this way: It's always the country's name, and then -go.

So, Spain, in Japanese, is spelt "Supein," so Spanish would be "Supeingo."
