"Is it over?" Yeine asked. She had her hands over her eyes, unable to look at the destruction and mess, or the looks of the teacher and the other students. Much less at Ying and Karan and Mayu, and how they probably looked.
Ying knew she was a mess. She ran multicolored fingers through her paint-covered, feather-coated hair. It was a disaster. Cleaning herself up would probably take about five years, and her clothes were of course ruined. She wondered, fleetingly, if she would have to cut off her hair. No, that was silly. Hopefully.
But Karan, who was leaning against a toppled table near the closet, smiled. He even snickered a little. A few seconds later he was giggling, and not long after that he was laughing out loud, nearly hysterical, and not really caring who saw or what they thought. Because for all the chaos, that was FUN. He didn't care that he was a mess, or that the room looked like a disaster area. It did briefly occur to him that the girls were almost as covered with paint as he was. Mostly, however, he was letting up months of pent-up anxiety and having the time of his life.

"It's over," Verde sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose with her spare hand. She braced herself for the scolding that they were most certainly going to get.
Karan's laughter triggered Mayu's laughter, a small chuckle at first which then bloomed into full-out cackling. This brought a wave of nervous smiles to the various students around the room which were coated in sticky materials and plumage, who were all afraid to see the teacher's reaction to the decimated classroom.
It was a while before the teacher started to speak, a frown forming on her face as she tried to figure out what to do. Finally, with a sigh, she waved everyone out the door, shutting the door behind her as she exited herself. They couldn't do anything in the room until it was cleaned up.
"Okay... clean students, go to the next classroom over. Dirty students, follow me." Having said that, the teacher began to lead the large group down the hall, in the direction of the locker rooms.

After several long moments Karan started to calm down, taking short breaths and deepening them as he tried to get a hold of himself. It had been fun, but it was over. Now he had to deal with the aftermath of what he'd started.
Xue- all but forgotten in the chaos of the fight- ran over to Karan, arms in the air. His puffy shirt and loose pants were definitely ruined, covered with paint in a rainbow of colors. But he was definitely happy, and projecting something to Karan with intense curiosity.
CAN XUE AND KAR DO THAT AT HOME? surprised exclaim
Karan almost lapsed into laughter again, but clamped one hand over his mouth to prevent that from happening. When he felt he could talk clearly, he removed it and took a deep breath, but nothing could erase his giant grin. "Y'know, Xue, somehow I don't think so. Come on, let's go."
Holding her arms a bit away from her, so she wouldn't get stuck on herself, Ying meekly fell in line after the teacher. "Come on, Yeinie."
Yeine looked at herself. Despite a couple of errant splotches, she could hardly be called dirty. "But I-"
"Come ON, Yeinie!" Ying was not happy, and wasn't willing to face the damage without someone she knew she could lean on.

Mayu followed after the teacher quickly, Miroku and Kuro hovering behind her. Her paint-covered sandals squished down every time she made a step, popping with a wet sound every time she lifted one foot up. It was quite an annoying sound for bystanders to hear, but it sounded... interesting to the girl.
Verde trailed behind the group, knowing better than to intentionally separate herself from Mayu and their newfound friends. She managed to blend into the crowd well, even though she was totally clean save for a dash of paint here or there that the canvases had failed to block.
For once, the ghosts were glad to be intangible. None of the mess had gotten on them at all, and they wouldn't be the ones to have to clean the room up later. As they looked around the sea of kids, the two men couldn't help but feel some smug air of confidence among them, giving each other a small high-five as they had seen others done before.
The teacher led the kids around the corner and into the pool area, where the locker rooms were situated. She pursed her lips as she stopped in front of the doors, wondering what she would be able to do for a change of clothing. Where in the world were they going to get clean clothing for almost twenty kids?

What is everybody doing now? More fun? confused
"More like cleaning up," Karan told Xue. Now that he was a bit calmer, he was starting to feel the way his clothes were sticking to his skin, and the tickle of feathers on the back of his neck. It actually felt kind of cool, like he was some sort of creature shedding its skin. And at least his shoes didn't squelch.
Ying didn't even wait for the teacher to give them instructions. She just marched through the door marked with the universal stick figure in a skirt that meant "female" and sat on a bench, wondering how it would be best to get out of her clothes. That there weren't any clean ones didn't even bother her.
"Ying..." Hesitating, Yeine stayed outside, and faced the teacher. "Is there any way I can help? Maybe I could get smocks from the art room, and aprons." It was a temporary solution at best, but better than nothing.

Mayu lifted a floppy sleeve, noticing how heavy her clothing was starting to get with the paint and feathers weighing it down. She found a nearby bench to sit down on, leaning back against the wall as she watched the teacher converse with Yeine. It would be good to rest for a little while as the others searched for a fix to their clothing predicament.
"They're in the storage closet," the teacher said, humming in thought. She snapped her fingers as a thought came to her, looking up with an accompished expression.
"Could you go to one of the martial arts classes and ask to borrow a few uniforms?" she asked, looking down to Yeine and then casting a wide glance over the crowd for anyone else who would want to tag along.
"I'll go too," Verde spoke up, pushing through the kids to the front of the crowd. There really wasn't anything for her to do except stand and wait if she stayed behind, and the Jumi was not one to stand by idly.

"Of course!" Pleased that the teacher didn't yell or disregard her suggestion, Yeine nodded enthusiastically. She knew her way back to the martial arts class, more or less- after all, she was the one who had found their way to the art class in the first place. Whether or not that was a good thing was definitely debatable. Ying didn't look too happy anymore.
But there was no time to worry about that. Nodding again, more seriously, Yeine turned to Verde. "Let's hurry."
Sighing, Ying turned to Mayu. She was starting to regret even thinking about leaving their assigned classroom. "Some idea, eh?"
Xue sat on a bench in the adjacent changing room, leaning against the same wall the girls leaned on, even if it was the other side. He watched Karan throw some sponges he'd pocketed at other boys, who seemed to be taking it in the spirit of things, but didn't participate. He could feel the hurt clear through the wall.
Why are Ying and other girls so sad? sad

"It wasn't that bad, I think," Mayu shrugged, though heaved a heavy sigh at the thought of all the cleaning they would have to do once they cleaned themselves up. "At least we had fun, right?"
It was more fun than she would have had sitting in that boring martial arts class, anyway.
Verde nodded, leaving her canvases with Mayu and Ying as she hurried after Yeine.
"Maybe we should see if there are any other classes that teach martial arts first, rather than go to the one we were at before?" she suggested, trying to keep up pace with Yeine. She was definately not cut out for any sort of running whatsoever --- the only exercise that she really had were the occasional brisk walk and lifting heavy books.
Miroku and Kuro hovered outside of the changing rooms with a confused look on both of their faces, unsure of which room to go into. Mayu was in the girls' changing room, but they were sure to be kicked out if they went in... and they had no purpose of being in the boys' changing room.
They finally decided to sit down in between both rooms, waiting for Mayu to come out so they would have someone to follow and get vague directions from again. But waiting was such a boring task..

"Not that bad?" Ying parroted, puzzled. It was beyond being "that bad" in her opinion. Her clothes were ruined, her hair was tangled and matted, and her body felt like she had bathed in orange marmalade, and probably looked like it too. But there had been some fun parts. Maybe she had been caught up in the moment, but looking back, it had been sort of fun squirting all those people with paint and glitter glue. A new experience, for sure. Fun? Possibly.
"I guess it was sort of fun," she finally admitted, smiling just a little. "But I'm gonna have to teach Karan a lesson later. He can't just ruin a girl's clothing and not say sorry!"
Yeine, who was already walking at a brisk stride, slowed down a little. "That's a good idea. How about you look on that side of the hallway, and I'll check this one?" Already putting her plan into action, she moved over to the left side of the hall and peeked through the first window. It was a cooking class, so she shook her head and moved on. "Next!"
On the other side of the wall, Xue felt the sadness lighten a little. Contented by that, he was aware enough to catch a damp red sponge thrown at him- and cheery enough to throw it back and get into the game. If a teacher walked in, they would find that only a couple of the boys were actually getting cleaned up. The others were beaning each other with sponges and laughing rowdily.

"That's the spirit," Mayu laughed, clapping Ying on the shoulder before working to squeeze out what amount of paint that had not dried on her clothes. After a short while, she was left with a small puddle of colors on the floor beneath her --- and a pair of extremely colorful hands.
"...Hey, you think these walls look a bit bare?" she noticed, looking to the sterile white wall behind them. "They look like they need some color to me. And this paint is washable..."
"Okay," Verde called, following Yeine's example of peeking into windows. She had to stand on her tiptoes to see into the long windows that the doors held, though her curly mass of hair was easy to sight from the inside of the classroom.
"Nope," she said, a bit sullenly, moving onto the next door.

Ying grinned, eyes twinkling innocently back at Mayu. Too innocently to truly be up to anything good. "They are pretty plain," she replied, rubbing her hands on her leggings. The clothing she wore had more paint on it than her skin, if barely, and soon her hands were coated with a small rainbow of colors. "They'd look so much better with a splash of color. Maybe even a few designs, that would look great!"
"Maybe there aren't any other martial arts classrooms," Yeine said sullenly after peeking into her fifth window. She'd seen it all- home ec rooms, board game rooms, a dance room, and a storage room, which she puzzled at- why did it have a window?- but no martial arts classes. Sighing, she looked in yet another classroom, not expecting much.
The unexpected struck. "Verde-chan, I think I found one!"

"Yeah! A few flowers here, some swirls here..."
Mayu leaned over to dip her fingers in the puddle she had created earlier on the ground, looking over to the blank wall with a small grin on her face. It was almost --- no, exactly --- like a fresh canvas, all ready for them to use!
"Shall we?" she asked, already beginning to drag her paint-covered fingers down the wall.
"Maybe," Verde replied, peeking into a game room before dropping back onto her heels.
The sudden outburst made her jump slightly, the Jumi slowing to take a deep breath before walking over excitedly. She peeked into the window before turning around to face Yeine with a large grin.
"You found one!" she said in an upbeat tone, clapping Yeine on the shoulder as well as she could to congratulate her friend. "Now... we just go in, grab the outfits, and come out. Not that hard, right?"

"We shall!" Ying exclaimed, planting her paint covered hands squarely on the wall. She kept the heels of her hands together, so that when she removed them carefully, it almost looked like a butterfly or some other winged creature. At least, it did when she squinted and tilted her head to the right.
Stepping back from her first masterpiece, she judged it with a critical eye. "What do you think?"
Blushing, Yeine shook her head. "I didn't do anything special. But yes, let's go. I think we should ask the teacher, don't you?"
While the Cathar spoke, a burly looking teacher in a sleeveless shirt and sweatpants came out of the room, arms crossed. "What is it?"

"It looks good!" Mayu said, complimenting Ying's work with a wide grin and a thumbs up. She herself was doodling hearts of various colors on top of the stripes she had made before, making it look like they were sprouting out of the ground like flowers.
"Now what else should I draw?" she muttered out loud, though the question was more to herself than to anyone else in the room.
Verde looked up to the teacher, giving a complacent smile as she searched for the right wording.
"If it isn't much trouble, may we borrow a few spare uniforms?" she asked, folding her hands. "Our art class seems to have come into a... predicament, and most of the students need a temporary change of clothing."
Short, sweet, and to the point. It was bound to work, right?

Next to the strange winged creature, Ying started to paint a circle with her fingers. From the edge of the circle, thumb-and-fingerprints sprang out like rays, further adding colors to her artistic sun. "I like yours," she commented, starting on a few five-pointed stars. "Maybe a tree, next to the flowers?"
The teacher considered the request, and jerked a thumb behind him at a closet with an open door. "Go on, then. But make it quick, I have a class soon."
"Thank you, sir," Yeine said, bowing. Before she had fully straightened up she ran towards the open door, beckoning for Verde to follow. The teacher had said to hurry, and that was what she planned on doing.
