What happened to me was one of my friends did it and she suddenly felt a baby in her hands and it kept getting heavier and heavier until my friend fell.

Woah...That sounds like something from Japanese lore! Creepy!

As for the whole Bloody Mary thing...I've never tried it, and after reading the stories, I doubt I want to. Got a weird vibe from them. sweatdrop

I'm totally scared of the bloody mary thing. My friends made me go into a bathroom once & they said it. I just hid my face in a towel the whole time. When I opened my eyes nothing had happened. I was so relieved. But it still scares me & I never want to do it again.

most people dont really even know who bloody mary really is.

Mary Tudor, Mary I, or Bloody Mary as she was known to 17th Century Protestants, was the eldest child of Henry VIII. The only surviving child of his first marriage, to Katherine of Aragon. 'Bloody Mary' was the Mary of the last four years of her life. A staunch Catholic Queen in a religiously divided country she had 283 heretics burned at the stake in a misguided effort to bring England back to her religion.

as for flicking light switches, or flushing toilets...or some story of a lady who drowned her kids in a river...well i have no idea. I have never made the attempt, since as a kid, it really scared me.

if there is a way to call "bloody Mary" then it is most likely not the

The lady who drowned her kids in a river was la llorona, spanish for "wailing woman". It's one of my favorite ghost stories because there's so many versions.

I've tried most versions. It never happened. biggrin Though, I didn't believe it would happen. Maybe you have to believe it for it to happen?

The bloody mary version i was brought up with was that when mary was younger, she did something, dabbled in the occult and one day the spirits just claimed her, one of the items she had used was a handheld mirror, either that or a full length one...
Her spirit was not only trapped in the mirror, it was trapped there for eternity.
Now they say, stand in front of a mirror at midnight, an apple in hand, say bloody mary thrice and her spirit will claim you...

I heard somewhere that Mary, a young girl (I can't remember, but I think from 10-15), came down with some kind of sickness that made her appear dead (I think the same thing was dipicted in an Edgar Alan Poe poem...), and was burried alive, then for some reason they dug her back up and she was covered in blood and the coffin lid was scratched up, and her fingernails were sticking out of the wood.
Something like that.

It's supposed to be that if you go into a bathroom, turn out the light, and say her Name three times while turning, she'll appear in the mirror.

My half sister did it, and came out freaking out, screaming, and covered in scratches. I think they were self-inflicted though, cause she's crazy. sweatdrop

This happened a lot before we understood about the human body. Lots of people were buried alive and then for whatever reason when dug back up were found to be covered in blood from where they had tried to dig their way out.

These people were accursed of being vampires later.

I"m a person who " gets vibes " from things, and my friend was trying to get me to do this at her house, she lit the candle...and closed the door, shutting off the lights..and then she said something about " now do this and say bloody mary" and as soon as she said the name, ..I looked into the mirror, ..and it was like I was being watched...like something was waiting....and of course, I refused to do this, and I left the room.

I used to have a friend like you she didn't go with us that day and she was the one who told a parent to come save us from, "The scary thing".

I just posted this to explain who the girl was and who saved us.

Okay I'm gonna have to fill you in on some background information about the location before I can tell you.

When I was little, I took ballet. Ironically I took it at a place called Mary's School of Dance. Her class was in this old old building beside St.Mark's. Although we had a class there every Tuesday and Thursday, she only had class on one floor. The rest of the building had been unused for years. Every other floor was unlit and cold. But the elevator worked and the stairs were easily accessible so any little kid with half a mind to explore could easily do just that.

Well it was one hot afternoon at dance that a bunch of girls had the idea to go up to the fourth floor, two floors above, and explore. They said that it would be fun and if you didn't go then you were a chicken. One girl (I've forgotten her name over the years) said that she didn't want to go because there was a scary feeling up there. They called her a chicken and said that she could stay and play with puzzles like a baby. Then they turned on me. I for one didn't want to be called a chicken so I quietly accepted. About five of us ended up going.

We all took the elevator up to the fourth floor. It was silent and unlit, with boxes and papers all over the floor. A few girls went into some rooms but I stayed close to the elevator. Then one of them had the brilliant idea to try Bloody Mary. And that was were I drew the line. I had been shoved in a bathroom and forced to try it in (I think)1st? grade, and it did not turn out well. I did see and feel something. I said I wasn't gonna play that game cuz it was scary. They called me a chicken and said that if I didn't, they'd tell my mom it was my idea to come up here. So reluctantly I went into the bathroom with them. They said Bloody Mary three times with the lights off. Suddenly one girl screamed. Of course it started a chain reaction and we all started screaming. The room got noticeably colder and three girls were crying.

Out of nowhere one of the parents burst into the room and pulled every one out. Three of the girls had scratches on their face and arms and one girl (the first to scream) had various bruises too. We all got yelled at and taken back downstairs.

The girl who told was there waiting when we stepped out of the elevator. She sighed in relief and hugged us saying. "I told you! It was bad wasn't it?" I quit ballet soon after that and haven't tried Bloody Mary ever since.

That's weird. When I tried the Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary trick nothing happened.

Of course, there's also a Mary Worth version.

And I've heard one version where Bloody Mary is, in fact, the disgruntled spirit of the Virgin Mary.

or, if that link doesn't work, try this one:

I know the english verison on Bloody Mary. It's pretty much the same, you stand infront of the bathroom mirror and say Bloody Mary three times and she'll appear; you'll then die in some many days time or soemthing. I forget the ending.

But in here in england Bloody Mary is linked to Mary Queen Of Scotts. She got the nickname Bloody Mary as her favourite punishment for prisoners was to chop off their heads.

Then again that could of come from her sister Queen Elizabeth blacking her name. Either way it's a good story.

I'm not English, but this is still the back story I go by.

I have tried it, and nothing happened. Though, some of my friends claim they've tried it and experienced the full-fledged woman-in-the-mirror. So yeah... not entirely sure.

Okay since that directly ties in with my religion, I can guarantee you it is indeed NOT the spirit of Virgin Mary. Mary is the son of god and her spirit is in heaven. No questions asked. Secondly God does not send his angels to scare the living daylights out of people of the living realm. And thirdly...hahha man it makes me laugh thinking about it, but there's no reason for the virgin Mary's "spirit" to be disgruntled. Whomever came up with the idea of that "version" of the bloody mary story is full of crap honestly.

Doing the whole Bloody Mary bit is just like using a ouija board I can assume. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Either way its just some demon playing off your fears and showing its physical form to you to scare you it you do indeed see something while doing it.
