We don't do traditions much more now... usually they involved the words, "Get Nek(k)ed" or people being raped... but now it seems that people are getting way too serious in band, although we did listen to Candyman before every competition. Also we tend to fight in the drumline...
We are so dysfunctional...

Freshman initiation. Not one of the most funny parts of band camp though cuz the seniors are really restricted as to what they can do (they've had hazing issues in the past).
We also have cabins at band camp (mine is SIOH). They're all acronyms for something (some of them are really perverted). You're not supposed to know what they stand for unless you're in the cabin, but people find out anyway. If it's a cabin of seniors, they usually pass it down to a sibling or underclassman. We make a new banner each year out of a sheet with the cabin name on it and everyone in the cabin signs it. Most of the cabins make T-shirts for themselves (and their rookies).

When we change in band the boys usually have their own bus and the girls have another (usually but not always)
but i remember several times coming home from games and since i'm in the flag corps i had a different uniform and i've managed to change with everyone on the bus without anyone noticing i was changing till they were like "holy crap, you were just in your uniform!"
That was always fun, it was especially fun putting up "curtains" aka uniforms, that flaggies could change behind since we didn't even have the option of wearing clothes underneath!

My band doesn't have any traditions, really, since our BD is rather new to our school. I, however, have my pre-concert ritual:
-Take an hour-long bath/shower
-Listen to Relient K's "Mmhmm" CD
-Get dressed
-Eat a lot
-Flip out becuse I thought I lost my music
-Feel stupid when I do find it
-Wear my lucky jewlry to prevent wrong notes
-Pray
-Leave for the concert

We have a girls' bus for changing and a boys' bus for changing. The only problem is the boys sometimes leave things on the girls' changing bus and try to come in. So we now traditionally have "Bodyguards" for the girls until they finish changing. The stronger and more violent girls (such as myself) take the job. It was hilarious this year. Darryl tried to force himself in and Synthia literally picked him up and threw him off the bus. We all died laughing. When we got off the bus the band director was looking at us like eek

dont talk to me about my band and being naked.
at every home football game there are guys changing in the band hall.....and after concerts too. at the last concert i saw these two guys changing in a practice room.....and then they started jumping on eachother and.......yeah
my friend and i left our clothes on the bus so we went back on and there were guys half naked and we were like eek YES! xd and this trumpet guy was changing by our seats and we were like "excuse us!" and he was like "*trying to be sexy voice* hey girls!* then we both slapped his butt. it was fun! 3nodding wink
i dont know of anyone going commando, but during football games people wear interesting boxers and band people were the major participants in "No Pants Day" so those interesting boxers came back to see me......

In collingswood you change on the bus. With guys and s. It is really fun! We are always like Woo ralph (the fat kid) TAKE IT OFF! we are a little band so we only get one bus. We all change on the bus because it is the fun thing to do! Then before competiotions and after practice we get changed inthe band room for competitions. And olivia's mom always brings the cookies!

We have a very large band, approximately 280 members, and so we have five band buses and one guard bus. The guard changes on their bus and the band kids just change wherever they happen to be. As seniors this year, we had the usual game where we went commando... or rather, the males went commando. And then changed into clothes afterward. It was really funny. A friend of mine has boxers with a tapemeasure in them... I was sitting in the seat in front of him, and out of the corner of my eye I saw something hanging. I yelled and told him to tuck it in, and when he turned my head I saw it was the tapemeasure. So yeah, we get naked. I took my shirt off after one competition because I was so hot I thought I'd pass out.
Yes, I had something on underneath it.

Band day with the univeristy was fun- changing in the back of a schoolbus... and being on the colorguard we can't wear anythign but a bra underneath our tops... so here we are, in a parking lot full of school busses and kids from 15 other bands walking around... and trying not to give anyonne a free show.
Since joining marching band/colorguard, I've gotten used to seeing more of people and them seeing more of me.
Now I'm just trying to decide if that's a good thing or not... xp

Ur jus lucky, i haven't seen s**t in marching band, our bus rides are boring and predictable, because they gave the percussion their own bus to ride on. Therefore, we don't get to see anything else but percussion each time, i hate my percussion section, and i hope they burn in hell.

aww im sorry you hate them.....my band's percussion section is awesome....well...the ones that dont hate me are awesome....like the pit and 3 drummers sweatdrop
@ apasionada: yeah im used to people seeing more of me....and ive gotten a lot less selfconsicous and umm getting "raped" is a lot less embarassing now ninja

We have a lot...
1. A couple of years ago someone bought this statue of this emormously obesse guy wearing a sombrero, and playing the trumpet for out BD. On the last practice before a big concert she would bring him out and say, ""Everyone, Senor Roly-Poly has arrived," and everyone would worship it.
2. We have never had commando, but we have had guys stealing the girls bras and wearing them around the hotels.
3. On the nights that we stayed in the hotel for a big competition, the guys went into everyone's rooms and took the coffee (there were four bags per room per day). At night everyone went to their room and we gambled off the cofee packets!

RyanPendragon As far as "naked" traditions, we just change wherever, though were not supposed to; this usually leads to one of our tubas hiding in our music library with the butt of his pants down and his, er... posterior pointing at the door waiting on an unsuspecting freshman to walk in.
