Dimitri_H The Saxophone was the first instrument I learned besides the piano...since then the quest of learning to play instruments has snoballed to the point i have some knowledge of each and every instrument in the band...with the exception of the double reeds... I picked up a tenor in the seventh grade after playing alto for two years prior...i wanted the biggest baddest instrument in the 8th grade so i picked up a battered and abused bari sax my band teacher(and musical mentor Mr. Jim Cutler) had on hand for us unforgiving middle schoolers...the lows have stayed with me ever since...three years in high school now and I'm his best bari player yet...most his other players couldn't fulfill the sound of the refurbished signet bari the highschool has quite like I do...but I will say one thing negative about it...it sucks when you have to march with the damn thing...luckily NeoTech has a shoulder harness neckstrap thingy just for the Eflat bari...I really wish i had one... sweatdrop The bari player at our school has one of those harnesses. I can imagine it helps immensely... I had a hard enough time "marching" tenor sax yesterday. sweatdrop It kept smacking against my leg because I'm not very tall. Much more difficult than "marching" flute.

Miangel The bari player at our school has one of those harnesses. I can imagine it helps immensely... I had a hard enough time "marching" tenor sax yesterday. sweatdrop It kept smacking against my leg because I'm not very tall. Much more difficult than "marching" flute. our bari player my first semester froshy year had one of those... he commented that it did help loads but that every time he put it on he felt like he was in a bondage movie...

Nicholai Maxwell HEY! I TAKE THAT OFFENSIVELY!! ONLY BAD OBOISTS SOUND LIKE DUCKS!! *laughs* My second chair, (and only other oboist) sounds like one, so I got first after my first year of playing oboe. I had only taken lessons, and not played in actual band. But, anyway, if you are a good oboist with a "dark" sound, you never have to worry about being a duck. I sound more like a snake charmer. *laughs*
