Heh, we're all aware of the stupid secrecy stuff. I think as long as we don't say what base they're leaving, what time, and where EXACTLy they're going, we'll be okay. We're not Geraldo Riveras. wink
I've been very fortunate Tommy's been calling me on his off days, of course he hasn't done too much, he manages to keep busy at the hospital and all and tells me stories. Apparently he has a patient that looks like the Soup Nazi.
I'm still having hard times with Logan and sleep, so I TOTALLY can sympathize there with you on that. I just get a bit reclusive when things get bad for me, so I'm still alive. Luckily, we were able to get an address of where he was going, but it changed, blah. I'm waiting to fill up a nice care package to go to him!

My cousin is still deployed right now. His deployments are so secrety, that he can't even tell his mother where he's being sent until after he's home and the mission is complete eek . I know in the past he's been to some cool exotic locations. He usually voluneteers for deployment. Being young, single, and with no kids, he likes to travel. And also he does it to keep married guys with kids from having to go in his place.
I hope he gets to come home soon. He was like a brother to me growing up. he's exactly one day younger than me! Last time he went overseas, he brought back cool souvenirs. I got a cool black onyx necklace from Moracco and a Euro coin. He emailed me a pic of him from the desert one time (when he was in Africa) and he was holding a thermometer and it said it was over 120 F gonk ! He was pouring sweat in the pic.

We're not Geraldo Riveras. wink Luna this made me laugh so hard.. Geraldo I want to just say that I've been think about you ladies and your husbands. I hope they will both be really safe, that you two are doing well, and that you kids aren't taking it to hard. Loki that's so great of your cousin I really appreciate the guys like that. When my Alex deployed he went in a group of six guys to fill in space with another company. They were going to send this guy who has six kids (one of which is disabled), but one of my hubbies single buddies voleentered so he wouldn't have to go. I think that's about the nicest thing you could do for someone. I'm getting so antsy with it getting close to time for Alex to come home. Sascha tells me atlest twice a day that she wants day to come home now and she misses him.

^__^ That is awesome of your cousin Loki. I hope they give him the appreciation he deserves for that.
My best friends cousin is special ops and it's the same deal. They don't even know he went until way after the fact and even then they don't get to know where he was. xP
xD I think everything is fine as long as there are no unit names, locations, or specifics mentioned. I about died when I saw the Geraldo comment. That guy is such a putz.

Yeh, I always thought it was super nice of my cousin to do that as well. He is from a Spec Ops base, so there's ALWAYS deployments going around. It sucks that he's not always home for the holidays and such, but I know he's out there 'cause he wants to be out there.
I think since he joined (right before my hubby did) he's been deployed about 5 or 6 times... that's within about 3 and a half years. Sometimes it's just for training in the States, but other times it's overseas for other stuff. But he always manages to have fun wherever he's at. He's the kind of guy who was always the class clown, so I can always picture him being the "morale booster" on these deployments. I can't wait to get to see him again, he is always so fun to hang around.

Tommy got adopted by a friend's daughter's class. crying They're going to put his picture up and send his unit and stuff care packages.
Technically, it's supposed to be relatives, but the girl really wanted to do something, so her mom told her to tell the class he's her godfather! xd
Loki, thank your cousin for me, it's really awesome he's a great guy like that. I know that this one guy tried to volunteer to go to Iraq in this recently married/just had a baby guy's place. They weren't so nice and sent him too.

I wrote this today, from little bit to Izzy. She actually did this today. She got up, got dressed, and went to unlock the front door announcing, "I'm going to look for Daddy!" It was sweet and cute, but it also hurt. So I'm going to be sending this to Izzy on behalf of our little Powink Slayer. (Manda knows what I mean, and thanks for the initial input!) If anyone here wants to use this to send to daddys or mommies that are away from home. Please do!
--------------------------------
Daddy -
Today when I got up, I looked for you. I put on my shirt, my socks, and my shoes. I looked in the closet and under the bed. I looked in the kitchen and inside the shed. I searched for you here, and searched for you there. But could not find you anywhere.
I sat down with mommy and had me some milk. A cookie and hug to fix this heartbreak I felt. I looked high and low, I looked everywhere! But again everywhere, you were not there.
I finally stopped and looked at the wall. I see you up there, standing so tall. You smile down at me, so happy, so proud. I knew that I found you, when you're not around. You're still in the pictures, though far from home. I'll sit here and help Mommy write you this poem.
I'll keep looking for Daddy, when he's gone far away. My Daddy the soldier, saving the day! I'll be here waiting, growing so big and so tall. I can't wait till you're home, can't wait for the call. Come home soon Daddy, we miss you so much! I have to go now, Mommy's making me lunch. Peanut butter!!!!
