Noticing the man Kado steeped forward slightly, not enough to show aggresion but enough to be able to protect Nadira if needed. resting his hand on his sword Kado stood silently waiting.

((So no one gets confused... this is not the old woman faith spoke to. Also, Toleranth, I'm trying to get ahold of either spoof or faith before I say too much, is that alright with you?))

"One...two...three...four. Yes, four apples will do nicely" the old woman murmured to herself. She knew it was odd, talking to oneself but she had an excuse for it. After having endured as many moons as she had, no one blamed her if she occasionally spoke to herself. Moving on to the next stall, an interesting situation caught her old eyes.

Continuing to shop, the nosy grandma watched the delegate for nearly ten minutes before shaking her head and slowly shuffling her way out of the marketplace. She made a slight detour on the way to home though. A small, well kept merchant's shop that kept up a strong flow of people in and out. Upon entering, she noted that six of the eight clerks were already with customers. Today must be a busy day. Shuffling up to one of the free attendants, she hurriedly whispered what she had found from watching the delegate, the attendant smiled politely, and handed her several spools of yarn. The old woman smiled gleefully, she had wanted to make a scarf for this winter, and now she could.

((This is just to illustrate the information gathering system pearle has. Ordinary people give information and, are rewarded. This translates into about roughly 1/3 the population acting as partt ime spies for the government. This is so it won't seem like god-modding when the captain of the gaurd knows where the delegates have been))

Arkayid looked at the man who stepped forward.

"Look, if I wanted her dead, she'd be dead. Along with you." For emphasis, he cast a small spell within his cloak. The tendrils of invisible magic wrapped around it made the sword nearly quintouple in weight.

"Besides, I come from where she does."

Kado eyed him suspicously, backing one step back he still stood at the ready if anything happened. watching the man profusly while he stepped more towards Nadira.

"Listen. I have NO idea who you are, and I'd rather not find out with my 'damage first, ask questions later' policy. If you rather NOT find out, step aside. She is most likely safer with me than you."

For emphasis, he readjusted his cloak a little so whoever this was could see the draconic snout.

Nadira pursed her lips at the two men's display.
She hadn't Noticed Arkayid following, but she had noticed Kado, almost upon leaving the courtyard. The again, she wasn't naive, it was obvious Jadeira had
sent him to try and babysit her. She bit back an exasperated sigh,
"Kado? What are you doing here... Oh never mind."
She turned to face Arkayid, and schooled her features int indifference,
" Arkayid hm?... The name sounds quite familiar, but what makes you think I'm in need of your services? Is there something I should know?"
A worried wrinkle creased her brow, "Kado its alright, just stand down, If anything I can defend myself. I'm not completely helpless, as my dear sister no doubt hinted at when she gave you this assignment-"
She paused in her minor rant when a loud alarm horn sounded from the wall, paniced yells swept through the square, as a completely stunned man screamed something from atop the fountain, When Nadira strained her hearing she could just barely make out what he was saying.
"The Queen, Kaelene, she's been murdered. In Esperanza!"
The crowd cried out in sync,
Those Esperanzan traitors stole her, and had her killed right under our noses. It was that barbarian Queen Jadeira!
Nadira reeled back a few paces, until she stood with her back to a wall, and in her panic tried to close her ears to the sound, as if blocking the noise would halt the apparent truth in his words.

Marta was standing by the window when she heard the alarm and heard them scream out Queen Kaelene was murdered. Marta sunk to the ground and covered her eyes, she had met the queen who was so nice to her the day she was hired. shaking her head as she creied helplessly into her hands, a flood of tears releasing onto her dress.

"Here's my services. We can go home, Right now."

Mother, things just went to Hell here! Apparently the two Queens have been murdered... Uh-oh. Arkayid cut off his message, as a crowd started growing. They didn't look happy either.

"Make up your mind... Or there's going to be a blood bath." He snarled. Arkayid threw his cloak back, and his wings were revealed to the sun-light. He immediately felt himself flow with power. With that, he drew Mishizuri from his back, and his great-sword from the sheath on his hip.

Arkayid. Listen, I have no idea, but someone just took over the damn castle. I'm a bit too preoccupied to do something about it, but all I know is that you DO NOT want to go there.

Listen, if I don't do something now, I'm about to hack and slash my way through a crowd. With Mishizuri.

Dammit Arkayid. I can't pull you. You're on your own.

Arkayid nodded. "So much for that idea. Damn my lack of skill with magic. Listen... Ah... Lady Nadira, we're quite... well..." Arkayid muttered an expletive that had no place to be in a fifteen year old's mind. "Anyways. My services start here. Body guard. And they don't look like they'll let us go. Your call."

((Ok Toleranth, my apologies for making you wait. I was under the impression the queen's death was going to be kept hush hush at first. Also, if you mind me assuming your character will take certain actions, just let me know))

Rai'ak was about to respond to the draconic delegate when suddenly a white clad messenger appeared. The alcoyte beckoned frantically to Rai, who sighed impatiently. "If you'll excuse me Lord Vermillion". Slipping away from the delegate, the young priest turned to face the messenger, who silently handed him a letter and sped off without a word. Opening the letter with a silvery crescent of light, Rai's dark eyes narrowed as he read the contents of the flowing script. Although he was typically pale from his lack of exposure to the sun, he turned a dead white color.

His expression remained the same, and his voice as he turned back to Vermillion was steady "I'm afraid we won't be able to visit the children today. If you'll come with me M'lord, I have something to tell you..." Whirling quick enough to send his hair and robes alike spinning, he set off towards the temple gates. Once the delegate caught up with him, Rai'ak spoke in a quiet voice "Lord Vermillion, it seems that our queen, Kaelene, had been murdured"

Jaimer's heart was in his throat as he rushed out the front gates of the palace. Tulvom and two others from the guard were behind him, all of them racing out of the city. Thanks to the intelligence gathering branch of the military, Jaimer knew exactly where he was headed, but that didn't relieve him any. Kaeline was dead, and the people had loved her. Now it was his job to make sure they didn't mob the esperanzien envoy. Bews always spread like fire, and JAimer prayed to Lumos that he would find living, breathing delegates instead of mutilated corpses.

The Citadel gaurd had a reputation for being effecient, and that was quite possibly due to another reputation they had. It was rumored they would kill anyone who got in the way of their duties. Jaimer knew of course, that those were only rumors, but it made everyone else respect the guard. And in the case of the common people, fear was how that respect manifeste itself. As the shining troop charged through the streets, the people immediately cleared before them, making their progress through the city quick. On the other hand, he reflected, it could just be the fact that their razor sharp glaives were unsheathed and in-hand.

Within two minutes of having recieved his orders, and a thousand whirlwind thoughts later, Jaimer breathed a sigh of relief. It stopped before it left his mouth though. Two armed men seemed to be arguing over his target delagate. Not good. Skidding to a halt a few meters away from the conflict, Jaimer raised his voice so as to make his intent quite clear "This is a vice-captain of the Citadel guard, we have orders to escort the delegate known as Nadira back to the castle for her own safety." Jaimer never had been good with words. Oh well, now all he could do was hope they would react favorably

"No way in hell, whoever the hell you are. We need to get her out of here. I may not have been around for long, but I've lived in a crazy place. Unless she cooks her food herself, ain't gonna stop no one from slipping some nasty thing into her food. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll worry about body guarding her. You just get us out of here."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 30, 2006 11:36 pm

Underneath the glistening surface of his helm, Jaimer's face curled into a frown. Of course this disagreeable man wouldn't react favorably. The queen had died on Jaimer's shift, Pearle was in an uproar, and he had forgotten his lucky underwear. Nothing was going well today. Behind him, he could feel the other members of the guard tense, waiting for a fight. Stepping forwards slowly so as not to alarm the stranger, Jaimer spoke again.

"You're right, you've not been around here for long. Think about the situation, if you fight us, it will not help this person you are trying to protect. Right now it's only a rumor that the esperanzien delegates have killed the queen. A rumor that can be dispelled. But not if four members of the Citadel Guard are found dead because of you. Or if you fight us and die, how have you helped her?"

Turning to Jadira, Jaimer knelt down. Why address this troublesome person when he could change the mind of the person in charge? Very few would escort against the will of the person being escorted "Milady, please. Come with us. All but one of your comrades are safe in the castle, and even he is on the way there. Please milady, you have my word. By Lumos and Lycra, you will not be harmed while I live."

Lord Vermillion frowned but kept up, "Rai, you must get someone into place temporarily to rule, i don't care if its a servant, you need someone who is strong and capable of controlling the people's emotions from panic. After that, an imediate investigation must commence in order to determine the killer, but a person of your position can at least maintain reasonable order. If this situation decays further then it has, your kingdom will rip itself apart in a matter of days, and the facations no matter how strong or weak in numbers will start pointing fingers at all the wrong people."

Vermillion caught a glimpse of angry people shouting vulgar insults of Esperanza and of war with its allies.

"listen with your ears Rai, this is how it starts, anger, shock, disbelief, and i offer my assistence to find those responsible for such treachery."

Vermillion was sincere in his features and in his tone, he showed no signs to deception, because at this point deception would get him killed.
