Peach and Roy. I was also a sucker for Jigglypuff on the n64 version.

I love playing that game w/ my friends! My friend is always Shiek, and her brother picks whichever one of the 3 mentioned above I didn't pick and screams "I'm a babe magnet! ^_^" It's kinda creepy whee

I used to play Link all the time, he kicks butt, but then I started playing the ice climbers, I rocked with them too,but now I suck with them.....

I'm always Link, Marth, or Roy. Then my friend is always Shiek and my friends little sister is Kirby and the middle sister is Kirby and their brother is just random bishounen ^_^ But gotta love Link, Marth, and Roy! heart

For me, it depends on who I'm playing against, and what character they're using.
If I'm fighting a slow character such as Bowser, Donkey Kong, or Gananondwarf, I do best with a fast character, such as Young Link, Shiek, or Marth. If I'm fightning a fast character such as Shiek or Fox, I do best with young link, or the same character as my opponent's using. If I'm playing against someone using Marth or Roy, I do best with Marth, especially if I'm playing against my brother. (Who always beats me anyway.)
My personal favorite character is Young Link, since I'm good with him. But he doesn't stand a chance against Roy or Marth, because his sword is too short.
Pikachu is a good character to use when you're playing in the Hyrule Temple, especially if you're doing teams or have four players. If you go down into the dungeon, you can zap people who are up on the platform above.
Pichu is a powerful, fast character, but I don't like to use him because he's small, has short range, and hurts himself when he uses an electric attacks.
I don't like Ganondwarf, Bowser, Mewtwo, or DonkeyKong because they're slow.
The Mario characters are good against characters with short range, because they're fast and powerful. However, they don't stand a change against Marth or Roy. (Unless the person playing as Marth or Roy is REALLY bad at the game, or a beginner.)
The Ice Climbers are really good if you have items turned on, but if you have the items turned off, they're not that great. Though they are, (in my opinion), better than some characters, and they're pretty good against the smaller characters. (Pikachu, Pichu, Ness, Kirby, etc.)
Kirby is a pretty good character, but I'm bad with him.
Jigglypuff is a really good character if you're good at using her down B attack. My sister's really good with her, but young link goes good against her. Jigglypuff's especially good against big characters, such as Bowser or Donkey Kong.
Captain Falcon is pretty good, but some of him moves can kill him if you're not careful.
Fox and Falco are really good characters, if you know how to use them. Personally, I prefer Fox.
Ness is a decent character if you know how to use him, but he's bad against Marth and Roy because of his short range.
Samus is a really good character. Her downward smash attack and her third jump are really good at close range.
Game and Watch is a really good character; he's powerful, but not too slow.
Peach is a pretty good character, but I'm bad at using her.
