Matuska no it wasn't gonk tuttledgt said it means 'love death' but it doesn't! crying
I think they also said this in the anime when Gaara's uncle (momentarily forgot his name ... so I'll just call him "Puff" or "Gaara's uncle" or something ...) was telling Gaara about how his mother named him ... and what the name meant.
Did I just repeat myself like three times? xd

SabakuNoAnei Matuska have a question, if gaara's sand always protects him, then how did he get his tatoo? it bled when he first got it, why did the sand allow that? What # episode is that??(where he gets the tatoo)

My reasoning behind Gaara's tattoo/scar:
He had never been hurt before physically because the sand always protected him, but it couldnt protect him from emotional pain. so when Yashamaru revealed that he was never loved, Gaara was hurt so bad inside that it transferred to the outside, and the very first thing to ever hurt him physically was also the cause of his inner pain: Love. So now he will always have the scar caused by "love".
