Either he could read minds, it was writ across her face... or that was one odd coincidence. She drew her eyes from the floor back to those malevolent and piercing ones dwelling beyond the mask.
"..." what choice did she have? Part of her wanted to call it a bluff. He wouldn't kill her. It would be far to difficult to get away with killing someone with a mother like hers...
But...
Then again...
He didn't really know who she was, and those eyes lacked very little outside of cold, calculated and brutal insanity...
Which, as far as she could tell...
Was the most terrifying thing of all.

"...You always have a choice, dear child...always. Tough I can't promise the alternative is...pleasant...."
He reached up, running a finger along the sharp edge of his scythe. It cut his fingertip...and he brought the hand back towards Terra's face, holding it inches away, waiting.
Waiting for an answer.

She said no words, but simply gave a conforming nod of her head, pulling her eyes away from the blade, not wanting to look at it. She just wanted to be home..

"...Good girl...."
Quietly, he reached forward, smearing his own blood on her face. He made lines coming from the corners of her mouth...then more lines across.
Like stitches.
"You won't want to wash this off until people see you. Understand...?"

What was she going to do? There wasn't exactly anything but her own arm to wipe it off on anyways and someone was bound to see her like it before she even got home. The tears were building once more as the Scarecrow painted the bloody stitches to her face.
Somedays were just not worth getting up for...

He continued on until he was satisfied - and until she looked like a morbid reflection of his own mask.
"Let's go over this. What will you say when they ask, child?"

Terra half sat, half lay, visibley shaking on the floor. She jerked her head agitatedly away from his gaze. Somber and quiet, she felt several emotions welling up inside of her. A mixture of loathing, hatred and disgust.
Mostly for herself and her inability to take control of this situation. Her inability to say no.
"T...the..." she stuttered.

"Speak up, child. And you should really look at me when I speak to you...in the eyes...."
He leaned forward on the scythe, eyes sparkling with madness. He was pleased...this would help him. Threatening fear was one thing...but to truly DEMONSTRATE it....
He needed a victim.

"NO!" she shrieked out, recoiling further, trying to curl up as tight as she could.
"Leave me alone!"

But he didn't - he leaned in much closer, scythe looming. His voice rose in volume, his breathing a loud, awkward rattle.
"Leave you alone? But is that what you REALLY want, Terra? For me to leave you alone, in a place you aren't even certain is close to home...all alone, where no one can hear you scream but I? You have no CHOICE, Terra. NOW- WHAT WILL YOU TELL THEM?"

Terra groaned in spite of herself, a pitiful, wretched sound full of fear. She trembled beneath the masked man. The blood marring her face was starting to dry. She could feel it, like leather drying in the sun after being wet, it tightened.
"Nothing.. NOTHING!" She screamed, not knowing what she was doing, or why. She wanted to leave, she wanted to leave and never think of this again.
It had to be a nightmare. The rest had been, why could this not be?

"WRONG ANSWER."
Finally he struck her - a swift kick wherever he could place it, only aimed to be a warning...to back up his threats and prove that he could and would inflict harm.
"TRY AGAIN. WHAT WILL YOU TELL THEM, CHILD? WHO WILL YOU WARN THEM ABOUT!?"

Terra let out an shrill cry as the kick landed, unsympathetically, into her ribs. She'd twisted about to try to avoid it when she'd felt it moving towards her, but failed. The fear causing her reaction time to be off. She felt herself fall back a bit, sprawled out as she quickly began to scramble up.
Her head looked up and her eyes met with the mask's. Her eyes widened with dilated pupils, her chapped lips quavered.
"S...scarecrow..." her voice heaved, breath caught in her chest.

Scarecrow's shouts became a pleased chuckle.
"...Good girl...and if you don't...do you know what will happen?"
He stood up to his full height, peering down at her from what may as well be miles above. He was enjoying all this...he was enjoying it a lot.
It would only be a matter of time before more victims would be screaming his name....

Terra couldn't bring herself to speak anymore words at this moment. She shivered and nodded her head, drawing her battered legs up to her chest. She coughed a bit, the bitter taste of blood slipping over her tongue.
It really... wasn't a dream.
