Mauli finally found it; The perfect tree. She swung herself up onto a branch, then climbed up another, finally resting against the trunk and staring up at the sky.
And then, she let herself relax.
That was the thing about Mauli... She was never really relaxed. Never. She always had to priss herself up to please someone, or watch a sibling, or worry about things to do; Tonight, she relaxed. Her shoulders slumped against the tree, the knots embedded in her muscles releasing and making her sigh in relief. She felt her eyes flickering closed, staring up at the stars and just letting her mind wander. Daydreams, ones that would be impossible to come true, did just that. People and places floated through her mind, cheering her and giving her hope.
Hope was what she needed.
