Demyx, who had calmed down enough to have a decent conversation, flopped down on the grass beside Kadaj.
"Sorry...."
He glanced at the silver haired one a moment before letting his gaze wander upwards towards the sky.
"Your mother travelled up there?..."
What the...? Kadaj was the son of something that could travel the stars? That was indeed some talent. Talk of family had Demyx wondering. Did he have a family? As far as he knew a 'nobody' like himself had nothing to call a family. They were just created one day out of...well...something. Demyx wasn't too sure of the specifics but he was certain it wasn't the normal method of creation.
"What's it like...to have a mother?"

Kadaj snorted mirthlessly.
"How should I know? I don't remember ever really knowing her. I kow who she is and I know she exists.... I even half a rough idea of what she looks like. But that's about it. I was never the favored child anyway."
He closed his eyes for a moment. How on earth could he explain Mother to Demyx when he wasn't even entirely sure of everything? And also, there was the fact that Kadaj was fairly certain that Demyx would never understand that his boss was only a remnant. Better to direct the questioning to something a little less difficult.
"What about your parents, Dem?Surely one of them must have been a powerful magician for you to have that water bubble talent?"

Demyx seemed to freeze a moment before shifting uncomfortably. This was a rather....hard...subject for him. Really, who would be comfortable with the idea that they simply weren't meant to exist?
"I..."
Ears flattened back a moment, the blonde struggling to find the words that could explain the situation.
"I....don't have parents. I don't think I ever did...."
He glanced at Kadaj, gauging the other's reaction as he went along.
"I don't think I'm even supposed to be here...nobodies like me shouldn't exist...."
Demyx knew what he was. The empty shell of some being that had once lived, and lost their heart in some way or another. He was, in ways, a ripoff of that being, struggling to make a life for himself. He also knew there were others like himself....he just didn't know where they were right now.
It was somewhat ironic that these two befriended each other. In ways Demyx was merely a remnant himself. Perhaps not in the same way as Kadaj, but in a sense...
"I'm not...er....how to say this..."
He fidgeted more, still rather uncomfortable with this.
"I'm not complete..."

Kadaj sat up slightly, ears perking forward with interest.
"Really? It's sort of the same with me. I need cells from Mother to be whole again. And I don't where where she is. Makes things a bit difficult, no?"
He settled back and turned his eyes back to the stars. Odd in a sense to think that he and Demyx had that much in common.

"Really...?"
Well that was certainly a relief. Demyx had been expecting Kadaj to freak out over that little bit of information. Instead it seemed the two shared a sort of common bond.
"You're not complete either? I don't really know if I can ever be complete again....I just know I'm missing a heart...heh..."
The blonde sighed, staring up at the stars.
"That does make it hard though...not knowing where your mother is..."

"Indeed. Particularly when I am not entuirely certain what would happen if I get the cells... I know I'll be complete. But I don't know what exactly "complete" entails."
With a sigh, he closed his eyes. Oddly enough, though he cnsidered himself completely amoral, he couldn't stand lying to people. He had a better idea of what would happen than he'd let on. But he didn't think it would be a good thing to give Demyx screaming nightmares.
But... to not have a heart... That seemed somehow worse that Kadaj's own predicament.
Without really thinking about it, he reached out a hand and clasped Demyx's shoulder. Sometimes, just lettign the other person know they weren't alone was the best help of all.

The blonde blinked as his shoulder was clasped, green eyes turning to study Kadaj. How odd...mere minutes before he had been scared out of his mind by Kadaj, and now the silver one was comforting him?
"Don't worry boss...I'll help you find the cells..."
Demyx nodded, returning his gaze to the stars above.
"And stand by your side no matter what happens..."

"You don't have to. It might end up getting you hurt and I don't think I want that to happen," the words slipped out before Kadaj's brain to mouth filter could work. Still, he couldn't take it back or lie to cover it up.
"Sephiroth is supposed to come back somehow if I get Jenova cells... I don't think you'd like him much. He isn't very nice, shall we say."
That was a bit of an understatemet, but Kadaj truly didn't want Demyx in Sephiroth's line of fire. As odd as it seemed, he was getting fond of his spastic little friend. He didn't want to see Dem struck down simply for existing.

Demyx sat back up, tilting his head to study Kadaj.
"If he isn't very nice...why do you want to get him back? And....what will happen to you?"
Ears flattened back, the usually bright green eyes fading a bit in sadness.
"You won't go away....will you boss?"
Demyx was already rather attatched to Kadaj. Losing him as a boss...or even a friend would shatter the blonde's world.

Kadaj considered his last words. Put them out in the open and they sounded a bit on the silly side. But still he couldn't stop the Reunion if it was going to happen. He could only do his best to make sure Demyx stayed safe.
Reaching out, he gave Dem's shoulder another squeeze and mustered up a smile.
"Don't worry about it too much, all right? The Future is a fluid changing thing, not set in stone. Who knows what may happen?"

Demyx could understand doing things because others said so. Hell he did that all the time... But if Kadaj did this something might happen to him, and Demyx couldn't understand why anyone would do that...
"I just don't want anything to happen to you boss..."
The blonde gave his own weak smile, trying to return the spark in his eyes.
"I can't help but worry.....sorry..."

Kadaj managed a wink before settling himself deeper intot he grass. Even though he didn't show it as much as he could have, his minion's words touched him deeply. So far as he knew, no one had ever really troubled themselves about him. A tiny voice deep in the back of his mind wondered if he should just forget about Mother nd the Reunion. Just as quickly, the rest of his mind pummelled that tiny voice into a bloody pulp for daring to speak against Mother.
The silver haired cat boy sighed softly. Sometims, he honestly wondered if he was nuttier than a fruitcake.

Demyx blinked over at him, the weak smile turning into more of a grin.
"I'm glad I don't disappoint you..."
Eyes traveled back to the skies, admiring the fading colors of the sunset and the stars starting to come out. They really were beautiful afterall. It was almost serene...sitting out here, relaxing with the silver haired one and just enjoying the world around them. The blonde had to wish that all of life could be like this, but he knew sometime in the future he'd be wishing to return to such a peaceful time.
Oh well....all the more reason to enjoy it while it lasted.

Kadaj summoned up one of his more mischevious grins, usually the one he reserved for witless grocery clerks rigth before he summoned a Creeper to terrorize them.
"I am a naturally selfish person, Dem, I enjoy people fussing over me a great deal. And as for being disappointed, we're still kids. Give it enough time and I am sure we'll each disappoint the other."
He tipped Demyx a quick wink to show he was only teasing. There was no point in bruising his minion's psyche any further for the day.

The blonde snickered slightly, keeping his eyes on the stars above.
"Well then I guess we're a good pair...I naturally worry too much and you enjoy the attention..."
His tail flicked slightly, whacking against the ground. It seemed Demyx could make music out of anything, the simple thud of his tail impacting in the ground having a bit of a beat to it.
