I've heard about that... East, south, north, west, up, down, left, right and within.
I think the raven is on the right.
I'm not sure. I'll have to get in a meditation one day and meet the rest of them. smile
And I found the cards in the Konzorcij, it's a big slovene book shop, I suppose you can find them on Amazon.com, but I wouldn't know, I just know what they look like.

I have three totems that I know of. Two that I have many encounters with, and the third being a mythological, I have only encountered in dreams. My first totem I've encountered was a Red-Tailed Hawk. I was visiting my aunt and sitting out on her back porch, well I was going into a basic meditation and on the chair back in front of me lands the Red-Tail. He just looked at me dead on, then turned his head in a curious bow and flew off. Later while driving back, I kept catching sight of a Red-Tail following above ahead of the car.
My second totem that I came across, and which I'm most affiliated with is a grey wolf. Lex knows I can be a bit of a pain in the butt with my affiliation with it. I was out at one of our Zoos with my art class on an animal anatomy study of movement, and I've always had a connection with wolves so i decided to use that as my project, well when I approached the cage, there was none to be found at first, then slowly, 3 wolves appeared in the enclosure, two passed by the fence just on their way but the third watched me, and then I decided to move on to another enclosure with the timber wolf, and the one that was watching me followed along the fence with me. I was estatic.
The third I'm associated with is the dragon, of the western variety. He always appears to me in my dreams, especially when I need to be strong or need to be protected. I have a rather large collection of dragon related items. Statues, figures, necklaces, earrings. I have one necklace that seems to always bring me strength, and I wear that as needed.
And yeah... I'm done babbling...Sorry about all that.. 3nodding

It's fine. ^^ Babbling/rambling is always good - more stuff to read, more stuff to reply to, more rambling - snowball effect thing, that is quite fun to be part of!
I'm glad you've found your totems. xd

Try catching the movie sometime. It's pretty good. It has Daryl Hannah in it, the way they portray animal totems is rather interesting. You might like it, but watch it after the book. The book is more detailed.

When I first started my studies on Wicca about three years ago, I was real curious about my animal guide(s). I read on a website somewhere that to find out who he/she/they were, I was to sit down in a quiet place with no distractions and envision a place of nature, such as the ocean, forest, etc. Then, I was to just start a one-sided conversation with my animal guide, talking very politely and just tell them about what was going on in my life.
After I was finished, I'd bid them goodbye and then I'd 'withdraw' from the place of nature in my mind.
I tried this method for about a month, and every single time I envisioned a nature place, an image of a tiger would pop into my mind. I don't know much about tigers, but I've always loved them because of their beauty (yes, beauty whee ), grace, and power.
I don't think that tigers live around places such as waterfalls, but I've always had a tiger's head's image pop into my mind and stay there. I've seen many beautiful drawings of tiger heads, and this image looked just like it. It wasn't moving or anything, not even talking to me...just there.
<_<;; I'd like to assume that a tiger is my animal totem, but I've been doing the dream spell for close to three weeks now, and nothing so far.
I've also had an experience or two with a few birds around the house, but I'll ramble about them in my next post xd

That dream spell was really good, though i did edit it a little. But since i woke up this morning the first thing that popped into my head was a wolf and it's stayed with me for most of the morning. Thanks to whomever started this post and put down the spell, (i can't quite remember who)
edited spell (no big editting just something to help the flow)
Guardians of the dream world, I call you to my side, Reveal my spirit animal, my protector and my guide, Show me the power, the beauty and the grace, In the eyes of my guardians face.
(hope whoever posted the original doesn't mind the changes)

Me personally, I think that my animal totem has two forms- a physical, and an 'essence'. Physically, she's a long haired adventurous house cat, white, with various patches of grey- I call her Selene. In essence, she's a cat with a snake for a tail... The latter bit, I found out when I was making a guardian for my altar. I was using clay-ish stuff, and I'd made the cat herself, and I was setting out to make the tail, and it just came to me, and I knew, that she had a snake tail...

I actually have a number of animal totems. I keep a representation of each of them on my altar at all times. First off, horse is one of my main totems. I was born in the Year of the Horse, and it has snowballed ever since. Next, bear made an appearance in my life around the age of 5 and hasn't left. Wolf and dragon started hanging around in high school. Hawks have been a recent addition. I've got a big cat hanging around, but I'm not sure what species it is yet. I've also noticed that each totem is a different sex. Horse, bear, and wolf are female. Dragon and hawk are male. The big cat isn't telling until I figure out what he/she is, species wise.
I have also had a number of animal totems pop into my life for a little bit of time, helped as they needed, and then left. It is really up to the animal totem.
