The waitress girl he had spoken to was going though there list of reservation's looking for anything that might be what Topaz had asked for. However Topaz wans't really paying attention to anything she was saying, he had been easedropping on several of the table's and had finally picked up on a conversation that interested him, that and the fact that it had to do with what he was looking for. Giving a faint smile at the girl, "Thanks for looking lovely." He said befor walking to the table with the four(?) guy's at it, all of which were, in his opinion very easy on the eyes. "You do know that anyone could hear what you are saying when you talk so loud, so if you are trying to keep it a secret I would recomend you discuss these type's of thing's out of the range where the ear's of people you do not wish hearing could hear." He said with a slight smirk on his face.

Reaching back he grabbed an empty chair and swirling it around so that it now faced the table he sat himself down at it. "Hope you don't mind the company, because I am afraid you are stuck with it. Topaz Ananda at your service." He said with smirk playing on his tanned feature's, his olive green eye's seemed to find this whole thing amusing.

Underneath the table, Price's hand shot to his sidearm the instant the stranger sat, but he curbed his reflexes until the name was spoken. Ananda. Ah yes, how could he forget? The flaw of begging for troops is that you do not get to choose them. These were not handpicked elites.

In fact, the man in front of him, if memory served, had been slated to be executed. Price wondered, precisely, for what, and made a note to check the dossier. "You have the ability to hear things," Price commented dryly after his caution subsided. "At ease, gentlemen. This is Officer Ananda, another one of my recruits. He hasn't had the benefit of your formal briefing, so if any of you would care to fill him in."

The sergeant leaned back in his chair a bit, lifting his water to his lips. At the very least, he *had* soldiers.

((Missed a response here. Consider it added!))

.Johann.Tiernan.
Throughout the entire exchange, Jaime simply sat, motioning with one hand to the waiter when asked 'and for you,
sir?'. As he listened, he sipped moodily at his water, wondering if, perhaps, this wasn't the best carreer choice after all. Even so, he refrained from snide remarks as his CO stumbled through the proceedings, and simply shrugged when asked if he had anything to say.

"Nothing useful, really..."

He put forth cautiously, not wanting to piss anyone off in a public place, for fear of Price's wrath.

"...My job's pretty straight forward. You say 'enemy' and I shoot. Pretty basic..."

About halfway through the comment, the young man's voice took on that familiar sarcastic lilt, and he rolled his eyes slightly.

"...But shouldn't you... well... know what we're supposed to be doing here? That is your job, isn't it?"

All propriety aside, his head tilted cockily as he voiced the blatant question of his commanding officer's ability to lead them. In his head, he mused if maybe he shouldn't have said anything of the sort, but (mentally) he shrugged that off as well, replacing his thoughts of doubt with a continuation of his usual cocky grin.

After all... he was sortof making a good point... wasn't he?

Price smirked and sipped his water, releasing a short laugh as he set it down. "Dossiers don't take important things into account, such as actions that didn't earn awards, or non-combat related prowess. In fact, some refer to officers as 'criminal'," He gestured to Topaz. "or 'combat liability'," His hand gestured to Dominic. "I recall 'Dangerously passive'," This time Lucas. "Or in your case, Officer Wheeler, 'unready for a combat situation'."

Price let his hand fall to the table. "All of your reports are brief, unimpressive, and for the most part, unflattering. I called you all because you were unseen, not because you are the best of the best. If Lieutenant Gary Wells, with four hundred confirmed kills, suddenly dissapeared, people would ask questions. For all of you, there are no questions."

Price smiled reassuringly. "I just wanted to know what all of you think you can do, as opposed to what some stuffed shirt reviewer thinks who has never met you."

It was about this point that something buzzed from Price's pants pocket. His brow furrowed and he reached for it, taking out a small cell phone. He examined the number on it, then flipped it open. "Talk."

He listened, lifting a hand to his troops for silence, then nodded. "I can't talk about this here." He snapped the phone shut. "Officers, I must step out, I'm afraid. One of my informants needs to speak with me, and you never know who has spliced into the signal on these things. Please enjoy your dinner; I've already taken care of the bill."

He stood up, patting the table as he did. "Get to know each other. I'll be back shortly." He headed for the door, taking his jacket off the hook and digging out a tiny antenna clip. He unscrewed the antenna currently attatched the phone as he walked and replaced it with a second antenna, then pressed the redial button. The phone was answered in seconds.

"Mr. Riley. What can I do for you?"

"Like I was saying, Coen, you and whatever boys you've got need to get up here," answered the voice on the line. A trail of gunshots came over the line, and Price felt something tense in his spine, like he had just put on his uniform. "Someone seems to be jealous that I deal to more than one group in the city; specifically the Skulls in reference to the Khans. I've got a nice sized gang war going on in my street; the Haven Guard for my sector are off responding to a fire, and four of my men are down."

"And if I told you we'd be there shortly?"

"I'd tell you shortly means people are dead, Coen! Sprout wings if you have to, but get your a** up here!" Something shattered and a scream came from the call background. "Dammit! Bair! Someone get Bair out of--!" The phone went dead.

Price snapped his phone shut. "s**t."

Price was back inside in seconds, holding his phone and not bothering to take off his coat. He walked right to the table and brought his hand down on it.

"Sorry boys, but I need to interrupt the R&R. One of my contacts in the Upper City is getting shot at, and he'd very much appreciate some available Haven Guard." He looked grim. "We don't have time to get our suits, so we'll have to do this in civvies. I know you might not have sidearms, so we'll make a detour and grab some from my dealer. Your food'll be here when we get back; but someone needs our help."

He straightened up, looking expectantly at his men.

"With me?"

For how much he seemed to complain, Jaime was up in seconds, sliding his jacket on and looking around nervously, but apparently ready to go. His hands clenched and unclenched as he slipped on the pair of fingerless gloves he'd brought with him, nodding quickly at the mention of sidearms and looking to his new companions, as if searching for confirmation.

Despite his cocky demeanor and snide remarks, the not-yet-man looked rather terrified to be actually heading into full-scale combat, examples of which being his trembling hands and wide eyes. Even so, he made a point to be the first person up, as if trying to redeem himself for the earlier comments.

[Apologies for the short-ness.]

Topaz listened to Price with a raised eyebrow and a small smirk on his face. Leaning back in his chair he said with a humoring smile on his face. "I dont have much choice in the matter so I don't know why you are asking me." That being said he pulled his slender body out of the chair almost cat like and placing one tanned hand on a slender hip he said with a smirk. "I have to say I resent that comment on me being a criminal, you have to do somethings to stay alive." He paused for a moment. "So which band of hoolagin's are we fighting? I might know a few, what with me being a 'criminal' and all." He teased slightly. He figured it was best going into any situation with a good attitude, that way if he did die, which it wasn't likely, he at least woudln't die mad. That and a gun fight might be a good time to escape what with all the chaos and all. His grin turned a bit cocky at that thought.

Dominic looked nothing less than surprised with the unexpected arrival of this newcomer, Topaz. He attempted miserably to hide his curiosity behind a forkful of noodles. Ah, so he was one of their soldiers then? Splendid! They surely needed all the help they could get. But was this a beauty pageant or an army brigade? he thought, eyes flitting over each of the men at the table. Not a one of them seemed less than very attractive, he noted. He was lucky Price's sudden phone call interuppted his thoughts before his cheeks turned too dark a red.

"Sh-shot at?" the hacker mumbled, brows having rose to their fullest in his surprise. He became slightly light-headed as if the true realization finally hit him of what it meant to be a part of this group. He would see combat. He would be in danger.. But he knew he would have to also stay strong and clear-headed if he wanted to stay alive most of all. Releasing a deep breath, he pushed himself to his feet to regretfully leave behind his delicious meal.

"Yeah.. yeah. With you. With the team. I'm good. It's fine." This all came out as a rushed mumble, mostly to convince himself. Afterall, he wouldn't be the only one out there. Someone would have his back.. right?

[[Sorry, I'm back. -kicksthread- live!]]

Lucas raised a brow as Wheeler spoke so boldly. Clearly, the younger one thought he was some sort of hot shot. Not like he didn't have the looks, but skills to back up that attitude? He'd have to see. When Price had removed himself from the table to take the call, Lucas neglected to take part in much conversation... though, it wasn't as if there was any time. Downing his tea with a final swig and pulling on his coat, he was the last to stand.

"Of course," he affirmed, with a nod. He headed toward the door and pulled it open, holding it ajar. "After you," he beckoned to the others.

An eyebrow arched in incredulous confusion as the one calling himself 'Topaz' sat down at their table, seeming to momentarily dominate even the air he breathed with his overwhelming personality. Already, Jaime didn't like him much, but hey... he supposed that that would happen eventually. Ya can't like everyone in your squad, right? In any case, Wheeler was more than apprehensive about this newcomer, wondering to himself if he wasn't perhaps a bit too... stylized? To see combat anyway. Rather plain-looking himself, Jaime was never one to feel overly intimidated by pretty-boys, mostly because (especially ones as well-kept as this one) they were all queers anyway.

With some effort, Wheeler brought his distracted mind back on track, in time to see the other two (Lucas and Dominic) stand up.

Jaime watched the other older men in silence, noting their reactions to the scenario placed before them. Indeed, it was reassuring that he wasn't the only one hesitant to rush into combat, and in a way he felt better. Even so, there was the lingering shadow of doubt regarding the troupe.

At the urging, he nodded, allowing himself to be ushered outside muttering a soft, terrified, "Thanks..." as he did so.

He only hoped the others didn't notice his apprehension...

Price gestured for the others to follow him, then headed out into the street, straightening his coat. He opened his phone and dialed a number, all while catching his bearings.

"Been months since I walked around down here..." Finding what he was looking for, he pointed at the nearest service lift to the Upper City. The lifts were meant for vehicles and scrap, not people, but Price didn't seem to care. The phone picked up with an audible click.

"Logan. It's Coen." Price rattled the padlock on the service lift door, then sighed and walked over to the side, picking up a refuse barrel, coming back over, and slamming it down on the lock to break it off. The metal shutter rattled from the force of the blow. Price put the can back down and pushed the gate open, keeping it open with his arm despite it's futile attempts to automatically close.

"Canjemi; there's a keycard panel inside. Bypass it." He ordered, Price wasn't sure that the hacker could do that, but it was far better than using his ID card and potentially informing any rivals in the government that he was still alive. "Ananda, Galuxen, Wheeler, in."

Following the captian outside Topax kept a weary eye on his surrounding's the whole while knowing through experience to never let one's gaurd down if you wanted to stay alive. Stopping at the lift he didn't question the choice of this, it was probably better to not use one for human's which would be more crowded and this way they wouldn't be detected as easily. Seeing his new captian break open the lock he let out a low whistle of appreciation. "My now that's not something I get to see very often." He said to no one in particular. Upon hearing his last name being called he turned his attention to Price and with a small smirk he slipped past him and into the lift.

"I did have a key card I had someone forge for the lift's befor it was taken from me. You might want to look into getting that back in case we are in to much of a hurry to hack anything else in the near future." He offered the comander once he was inside the lift. Careful not to step on any of the left over thing's in there one because that would be nasty and two because it would leave footprints and those would be easy to follow in case he did decide to make a break for it.

Dominic visibly flinched with Price's.. interesting method to gain access to the lift. Maybe he should keep an eye out for things more along the unexpected. Afterall, they were a band of rogue soldiers, and by what he had noticed thus far, not a one of their personalities seemed to match. They were bound for the unpredictable. When he heard his name called, his posture straightened stiffly as he a curt nod. "R-right. Got it," he said, tried to mask the nervous glint in his eyes. His first assignment.

He went inside the lift, stepping over whatever of the mess he could manage. Good thing he didn't change into his sandals earlier. When coming face-to-face with his 'opponent', the keycard panel, he reached into the messenger bag by his side and revealed a handheld device which almost looked like a over-sized cell-phone.

Feeling there was no time to waste, the screen to the device flickered on and Dominic's fingers were flying over the keys in practiced motions. It was easy enough to fall into the same transmission, he noted absently. "Install the Sub-7," he muttered to himself, "aaaand..." The panel beeped once, twice, then a small button turned green.

"Done," he announced, stuffing the device back into his bag with an almost relieved smile.

Price grunted from the straining of the door, glancing at Topaz in the darkened lift. "Duly noted, Officer Ananda. I'll get some people to look for it in contraband lockers, but they usually destroy forged cards. Might be... ngh... easier to just get a new one."

Price breathed a sigh of relief, then gestured to Jaime and Lucas. "Keep it coming, you two. Once we get this door shut, it's going to be pitch black in here, so I hope you don't mind the dark."

He looked back into the cart at Dominic. "By the way, excellent work, Canjemi," Price said, apparently impressed. "Maybe we won't need any forged cards after all. Can that signal be traced?"

In a moment, Wheeler was in the lift, still looking around nervously for any sign of trouble, perhaps brought about by the rather intrusive and not-so subtle method of entry his CO had taken. Indeed, they were all less-than-stealthy, but even so he was glad to be in the hands he was in, as opposed to with some kind of special-ops team...

With a visible start, he shook himself out of his reverie and eyeing his teammates with frightened apprehension.

[Hello, all. Greetings from sunny LA. <3 I'm here, hanging out with my dad and basically vegging out in front of a boob tube. I miss you all dearly, and will return in all of my glory after the 8th.

I love you all.

Ciao.]

Lucas was only a step behind Jaime as he, too, moved into the lift. His eyes glanced back at the relatively comforting environment of Sector A's biodome.. or what he could still see of it before turning to gaze at the others, Price in particular.
Hearing the hint about darkness, he tried to suppress a suggestive smile. "Are you attempting seduction, Captain? Or a mission?" Lucas questioned, "I simply can not tell anymore."
