"Mm. I don't think he was being funny." She mused, deciding to let Taizen think on that. She moved back to the table, picking up the vase of flowers. "Besides. If you plan on being around me, you and Guardian are going to have to familiarize yourselves with each other..Like I said he won't bite you. He's just..protective of his .....family..."

She moved to the door and placed the vase of flowers outside the door. Finally she ventured back in and back to the table. Slowly she started unwrapping the item on the table. Yeah..Guardian was her family..the only one she had...and had left. Even though they hadn't been together long there was a strong bond there.

"Really? Because I think he's the funniest cat i've ever met." He stated with a smirk. Venturing t try and pet Guardian again. "Who... Got you... The flowers?" He asked, his hand inching ever closer to Guardians head. Taizen had been curious as to who gave Niima flowers, as she had only been there a little while before him... Did she have some airbender boyfriend around somewhere that he hadn't met as of yet...? But then why did she seem like she was unattached, but was receiving flowers?

Taizen coughed and used his free hand to muffle the cough. "Herm... Hur, you know, just to start off that 'project' I was talking about... Not that your a project!" He reassured.

Guardian just sat there, tail thudding against the ground as Taizen attempted to pet at him. The feline made no action to spook the human male again. In fact the feline felt his territory was 'secured'.

Pulling out some cloth from the wrapping she blinked and looked to Taizen then to the remaining flowers that where currently scattered on her table. "It's one of my chores actually. Several of the children bring me flowers and I make a few arrangements to be set in places around the temple. People find them comforting I guess. It was asked of me and I have nothing against it. It's kind of fun actually. Plus I get to keep the extra flowers for my room."

She smiled cheerfully as she turned towards Taizen, holding up the flowing blue fabric. The fabric seemed almost created of multi-shades of blue but only because of the way that the light played off the fabric. Almost like water..

"Whatcha think of this?" She blinked and looked at him questionally. Was he coming down with a cold? "Yeah..surrreeee. Erm..are you okay?"

Taizen smirked even more, "It's just her chore..." He thought, feeling a little foolish for jumping to such conclusions... He cleared his throat. "Yeah, now that I think of it, There were a bit of flowers in the temple huh? I had no idea you'd helped make those! They're nice..." He said admiring a few of the flowers in the room, really, he should start paying more attention to the surroundings...

He smiled at the tailwagging tiger. "I guess i'm not as scary as I hoped I looked!" He said brightly, before looking at the brilliantly colored fabric. "It's... Really... Beautiful..." He said staring at the fabric. "It's not silk is it...?" He asked, trying to get a conversation moving again.

His comment seemed to cause a smile to rip across her face. She was proud that someone liked her work. "Why thank you Taizen! I guess all the refugees find earth surrounding them comforting. Kind of like I am sure you would feel more comfortable near a body of water then a land consisting nothing more then sand."

Folding the fabric over her hand she moved over and sat down in the crook of the tiger's body, her back resting against Guardian's belly. "Actually it is. Water Silk. Named after the coloring. There is also..um..." She got a thoughtful look on her face. "ShadowSilk, firesilk.. Those are the ones that I remember anyways." Her hand began to smooth over the fabric. "My mother use to trade in these silks. I have a few yards of certain fabrics she worked with. In fact..the outfit you first met me in I crafted myself."

Guardian tilted his head while she spoke, nipping lightly at Taizen's hand before his head lowered between his paws. Ears folded forward the feline was giving hints: scratch!

Taizen listened intently, these silks... He hadn't even read about them before! And they looked as though only royalty could ever hope to wear such things, how did Niima come across them? Was she perhaps royalty of some sort of village? Was she only half air bender? Suddenly he had so many questions to ask her, but this time, Taizen remembered his manners, he'd as about other things before he moved onto the topic of where sha came from.

Taizen looked thoughtful. "Really? I recall you were covered in snow, I failed to notice what you were wearing." He said honestly enough. "So, make your own clothes...? I guess you would have to, being a nomad and everything..." Taizen reasoned. "Who taught you? When did you realize you could bend? Who taught you how to bend after that? Where does the silk come from?" Taizen didn't realize he had begun to ask so many questions, it was accidental, really. He was just curious,he absentmindedly began to scratch Guardian between his ears as though he were a cat he'd owned his whole life.

She blinked dumbly as he started blurting out questions. She waited a few moments till the last one spilled and she tilted her head curiously. Well that..was new.

"Umm...My mother taught me to sew and some other household skills. I never did take hold of cooking..Umm.I don't remember when I realized I was a bender. It was by accident that I even realized. Kind of .." She made a motion with her palms, sending a small burst of air forward. "And my big brother went flying. Um..I once the village realized I was a bender, our elder benders began teaching me. Mostly basic skills..As I grew older and...my ...home destroyed...I began to teach myself..so you could say I am rogue learned."

"As for where the silk comes from.." Turning her hand she began to bursh the back of her hand against the silk. "I do not know if they where made outside of our village but I know that our elders were the ones that created the coloring scheme for the silk. This bolt of watersilk was created by my mother.."

She paused. Did she get all the answers? Her eyes rose from the silk and to Taizen then to Guardian. She smiled a bit and reached over to scratch the scruff of the feline's neck.

Taizen's eyes lit up as Niima tried to answer his questions, and then they faultered as she meantioned her village. "I'm sorry about that Niima..." He said solemnly. "But, think of all the things you learned from your village...!" He said, trying to cheer her up. "You were able to make your own clothes, bend, and you have some wonderful heirlooms, that i'm sure your mother worked her hardest on." Taizen said reassuringly, then, he decided to steer the conversation in a different direction, in an attempt to lighten the mood.

"There was this one time, when I ate some bad penguin eggs, and everyone in the village thought I was angry with them... I had this scowl, on my face, I swear, I scared half the village to death because I had indigestion..." He looked up to see how Niima would react, and then realized that there was a bit more of the story he needed to tell. "I threw horrible tantrums." He explained, "So horrible that whenever someone heard me coming... And they heard me! Everyone would practically give me a walkway so I could pout, and get it out of my system." He smirked some more, he had felt pretty damn special.

She smiled softly to him and gave a slow nod. "It's okay Taizen. Though..it does sadden me and some of those memories tend to haunt my dreams..I know some of my village's knowledge lives on in me and my family..friends..and even the elders guide and watch over me. My mother and oldest sister use to come to this temple while I was young..so there are things around here that they left behind.."

Her chin craned somewhat when he started to tell one of his childhood tales. She knew he was trying to cheer her up because..well the subject was quickly changed and quite out of the blue. She smiled to him and chuckled. She was tempted to say 'things sure hasn't changed eh?' but decided against it considering he was being sweet and trying to cheer her up.

"Are you sure it was the tantrums that was the reason they where making way?" She mused somewhat as she shifted, folding her legs under her so that she could sit back on her heels. Bad eggs where as bad as beans. "What about the other half of the village? Tried to make you feel better? Or they stayed out of your way too?"
PostPosted: Wed Nov 08, 2006 11:21 am

Taizen rolled his eyes. "I'm pretty sure Niima... As far as I can tell, it was because I was a mean little kid!" He assured, preffering not to mention how he went on homicide attempts regularly when someone attempted to tease him. He thought some more. "The other half of the village, was the children, and they were all just as equally scared of me, although I think they had developed a 'better' way to avoid me... They would rather just say: 'lets go penguin sledding everyone!' and then dissapear, puting me in an even worse mood..."

He got a little quiet and then started up again, "So, I concentrated on my bending, started ignoring the other kids- which was good for them-and it was like that for a while... But, as a result of all that, I'm a great waterbender, a great cook! And an equally great herbalist." He seemed a little dissapointed now, as though he had made a wrong choice. "But, I think Taikai's calling me." He said, he was lying at the time, but coincidentally, the old man had begun calling Taizen as well. "Oh.. Er.. Going!" He called back. "Se ya Niima!"

She blinked and laughed. "Don't look so down, Taizen. You can do two things definately much better then I could. Only herbs I know are for minor cuts and burns..And last time I tried to cook.." She paled at the thought. Wow had that been one awful mess.

She blinked when he suddenly bolted upward. As if he where escaping from something. Reaching up she grasped his hand lighlty, fixing to say something but she heard the teacher. Best not to get between the student and teach yes? Her hand released and lowered into her lap and she would nod lightly. "Y..yeah..See you later on Taizen."

Her attention turned back to the cloth, folding it slowly as she stared at it thoughtfully.

Taizen walked down the halls looking thoughtful... apparently more scary than anything, because a young airbender girl saw him, yelped, and turned the nearest corner. Taizen sighed, he really did scare people...

"Taizen! There you are!" The old man said brightly. He had the samae grin as before. "So, where have you-" Taizen cut him off expecting this, with Niima, doing innapropriate things, if that was all you wanted to know, then I might as well-" The old man looked indignant about being cut off. "Shame on me for being concerned about you! Being young, and all, but that wasn't why I called you!" There was a very suprised monk that Taizen had not seen earlier. under closer expection, he saw that the old man as the same man he had talked to about chores earlier in the morning.

"P-pleased to see you again Taizen. The old man seemed flustered. "I'm sorry that if you would find it stressful or if it might clash with previous plans, and I was against it at first as you are a guest, but Taikai has insisted you would do it, and after mentioning it to the other monks, they semed ecstatic about, alas Taizen, if only to help this old man please-" Taizen interrupted him. "I'm sorry sir, I'll help you however I can, but please, jsut calm down... And tell me whats wrong..." The old man took a deep relaxing breath. "Oh, how kind... You see, we were wondering If we could watch a waterbending demonstration, as means of entertainment." Taizen's face was drained of blood, and he looked as white as Niima when he'd first met her. The old man cackled, and clapped Taizen on the back. "I told you Monk, Go, All you needed to do was ask, and it was done. Taizen is my best pupil, he'll treat the temples inhabitants to something they've never seen before!" Taizen was still trying to get over something. "When you say 'we' and 'demonstration' you mean people...?" He asked trying to make sure he had not heard wrong. "Tell them we'll be ready tomorrow night." The old man said helpfully, Taizen rounded on the old man. Monk 'Go' was looking incredibly releived and began walking off. "Taikai... What have you gotten me into this time?!"

Exhaling she shook her head and moved from her position with Guardian. Digging out a few more choiced items, she began to set work on a 'project'. Something that would keep her in her room for hours on end if she didn't snap out of her daze. Threads, needles, and another bolt of cloth was taken out. Measuring out a certain amount of cloth she started cutting out what she would need. Humming softly, if not hauntingly, to herself she started sewing ends together.

Her mind was between what Taizen had said and her work. He seemed so disappointed in his own achievements but she couldn't quite understand why. He was an established bender..a cook..and a herbalist..which was quite good at his age..Was there something else?

Pricking herself with the needle she hissed out and focused more on her work. She didn't need to 'mother' over Taizen as he had pretty much hinted to her.

Taizen sat in a large, and dark room in the temple, it was the air temples council room, There was a raised platform made of rocks, and Taizen thought that perhaps some earthbenders had been in the construction of it. "Alright Taizen, we need to practice before your ready for the stage!" Taizen narrowed his eyes at the old man, before turning away. "What are you so grump about?... Ah, your girlfriend dumped you eh?" The old man said gravely nodding his head. "I did think you took it a bit too fast... But..."

"We didn't break up!" He said hastily. The oold man's eyebrows raised he was interested. "So if your girlfriend hasn't done anything, then why are you so angry?" Taizen glared at the man. "Because you have me performing! I'm a theatrical show now!!" He shouted angrily. "Well, if your so angry, I suggest we pick this training tomorrow morning, you head onto your girlfriend now..." He said waving a hand dismissivley.

"She's not my girlfriend!" He shouted exasperated. The sound echoed in the halls. "Why didn't you say so? Having an old man thinking all these things..." Taizen was very much on the edge of breaking down, he had assumed from his time with the man that he was not senile. "Sir... I'm sorry if I led you to any assumptions... Would you please... Help me train for the... 'Show'... Tomorrow?" He was getting very tired of this, the man smiled, he removed a drape covering two pots. They were filled to the brim with water. Taizen watched him go into a single stance; 'picking up the moon' The water rose from the pots. The man grinned. "First, lets see you juggle..." He brought his hand forward releasing his breath through his mouth, sending the two globs of water at Taizen in a wave, Much to the poor benders surprise.

Taizen exited the auditorium room, sighing heavily, THe sun was high in the sky, and he wondered what he was going to do for the last hours of sunlight. "Wonder What Niima's doing..." He thought absently, surprising himself, why was he thinking of Niima? "Because she's the only person you know besides Taikai" His subconscious answered him he sighed. "I'm going crazy..." He found himself at Niim's door, not knowing why he had walked himself there. He knocked on the door without thinking. "Hey Niima?" He called in, the door was probably open, but it was rude not to knock.

Well at the point he decided to return, the pastry had been absently eaten away while she worked on her task. The only thing that was in her stomach all day and she still fell asleep. Cheek resting against the fabric she was working on she dozed a good few hours away, only awakened by the knocking. Her head rose somewhat then she snapped to sit up, head turning sharply to the window as she gathered everything into her lap.

"Good grief..how long have I...Uhhh,"
She looked to the door. "Come in Taizen it's open." Wow sewing was really boring if it placed her to sleep. Her eyes lowered to the nearly finished project and she smiled a bit inwardly. Atleast she had something to show for it..
