A small group of dark figures moved towards a cozy looking inn, stopping in front of it and murmuring to eachother. "How does it look, Will?" the middle figure asked the shortest figure. Will nodded. "Malek?" the middle figure asked, looking to the tallest one. "Looks comfortable, Jack." Malek replied. Jack smiled in satisfaction. Malek held the door open for the two girls, then entered himself. Jack held Will's little hand, and Malek kept a hand on each of their shoulders.
Malek walked to the bartender, "May I have a glass of......anything?" he asked. Jack escorted Will to a table. She'd passed an elf on the way to their table, but hadn't looked at him. She'd forced herself to ignore him. Will stared directly ahead of her, face blank and emotionless.

Rachael breathed out at last as the man brought the great white beast under control. Maybe she could just... fall off now, while the thing was stationary.
"And who are you?" the man aksed her. She had no chance to reply, as the damned animal jerked its head up. Even that slight shift caused her to lose her balance, and, with a soft whimper, she grabbed hold of the saddle-horn again. She was absolutely beside herself as the damned thing started prancing around, jolting her about in her uneasy seat, making it feel as though her teeth might be jerked loose from her head.
She really just wanted to burst into tears as the horse spun itself around with its front hooves both entirely off the road. It continued to prance and tease, evading capture by inches. Rachael, always very pale, was so white with fear she was almost grey. A sharp change of direction by the beast seemed to jolt a little bitt of sense back into her.
"Stop it!" she half-shrieked, a slight catch of impending tears on the final syllable. On reflection, it was fairly pathetic, and she was rather embarrassed about it, but at the time it was all she could do.

"No. He is not." she answered. The bard held a little frown on his face for a second or two before lifting them and nodding.
"Oh... I get it." he murmured, lightly elbowing her arm and giving her a wink. He was grinning as there was a call for him, he obliged enthusiastically and hopped off the chair.
The bartender gave Malek a grunt as he continued to polish a glass tankard with a cloth that didn't look at all clean. "Water, ale, what?" he grumbled at him.
---
"Stop it!" The mare abruptly stopped mid-stride and lifted its head up sharply. Both of its slightly fluffy ears trained directly back and on her. There was a soft whicker, the ears still held directly towards the short rider and the mare's master, and its neck arched as it seemed to come onto the bit - although no one was holding the reins, the leather dragging along the floor.
Elizabeth let out a slightly pained sigh, a frown bordering on her bruised brow. Rachael's shout had seemed to bring her back to the more alert state. "Nnh." was all she could manage in the way of words, and in the way of movements her hands moved forward as if to search for the reins. Her eyes flickered open after a time, but they didn't seem to take in much of the surroundings and her ears didn't register the noise of the crowd nor the shout from the front of the march that sent it moving again.

Rachael sat silently for a long moment after the horse halted, utterly stunned. That... worked. She had not expected that at all. She gave a little nervous laugh.
Elizabeth's weight shifted slightly off her, and, with a pained groan, the knight reached forward, as if searching for something.
"Hey, hey," Rachael said with soft encouragement, "what do you need?" She didn't really expect a reply, but it was worth a try. And it was simply polite.

"Reins..." Elizabeth breathed, her head gently coming to rest against Rachael's left temple. "Kate." she called softly, the horse lifting its head abruptly once more, "Reins..."
The mare seemed to recognise the command and sharply threw its head to the left, reaching its head round so that the left side of the bridle was in reach. The knight's left hand attempted to reach out to catch the leather rein, but was an inch or two short.

Malek looked at the glass and thought for a moment. "The strongest liquid you have." he decided. He refrained from saying that it could've been turpentine for all he cared.
Jack looked at her small companion. She thought for a moment about how ominous Will looked with her small face shadowed the way it was. "Are you cold?" Jack asked the small child. Will shook her head ever so slightly. "Do you wish for anything?" Jack asked her. The girl shook her head, a minute movement. The taller girl sighed and looked about the room.

Terrified of overbalancing, Rachael reached forward to pick up the leather straps, and pressed them into Elizabeth's hads. "But how can you... well, and where are we going...?"

((Oy! I'm in this guild now! (I got the link from your siggy, Yun. Very nice roleplay you have here by the way.) I'm going to join, but...Quote: Oh, come on. players make their own skill check rolls... and there is no way you could have set the DC for that action higher than 18! Quote: Hehe, fine fine. If you wanna do you own skill check rolls fair dos, just tell me the result This RP has skill checks and all that? Where? I don't see it. Am I going mad?!
Just wondering.))

{XD It doesn't play a huge role in the roleplay, but I use the D&D skill check system to decide whether particular actions happen and how they happen. I also use it, depending on the character's alignment, to how NPCs react to your character.}

Scarlette's crimson optics followed the bard as he passed by her. She blinked a few times at his words, her lips parting to ask him what it was he got but he was called away. She sighed, snapping out of her thoughts at the bartender's words. "Oh. uhm, water is fine, Thank you." She said simplistically with a small bow of her head. Her arms tightening just slightly around the small figure in her arms to be sure he would not fall.

The bartender gave another grunt before placing the glass he had been cleaning down along with the cloth to produce a tankard of frothy dark liquid. "Twelve copper." he grunted before picking up the glass once more and returning to polishing it.
The scruffy man cast a look towards Scarlette with the elven child and turned his head again to shout into the backroom for a glass of water.
---
"Home." Elizabeth gasped, "Wh-where do you live..?"

Rachael blinked. She hadn't though of that: she had simply supposed that she would arrive, find the army barracks, sign up, and get a meal (be it hot or otherwise) and a bed.
"Er," she began. "No-where, yet. I only just arrived here as the gates were closing."

Scarlette's ears twitched slightly at the sound of someone's order beside her. She took a brief glance to peer at him before her eyes returned to the bartender. Crimson optics blinking just slightly as her arms tightened just slightly around the boy, being sure he would not fall. He was her responsibilty now. "Excuse me..." She began in a strong tone, getting the barkeep's atention. "Do you happen to know where I could get a room to stay in while I am here?" SHe inquired, her eyes never leaving the man while she waited for an answer.

"Ah.. Hah.. I don't want to.. leave you on the... The streets. They'll be after you." she murmured, her voice no higher than a whisper and coming with rasping breaths. She took a moment to collect herself, her eyes slipping closed for a few seconds before they were open once more and she was gathering the reins up a little. "You'll have to...Have to..." for a moment she seemed a little lost but she soon sorted herself out, swallowing and letting a frown dominate her features, "Have to come with me." And off they went, the white mare moving according to the commands given to it.
---
"I 'ave a room for ye 'ere. Ye'll 'avh tah pay for eet." the bartender answered, his voice rough and growling.
