Watching Katashi adjust his already almost perfectly aligned clothing left the naga with a feeling of not being properly dressed. She had just left the apartment, but the impossible amount of tweaking and perfecting was enough to make just about anyone else want a comforting mirror check. Auren resisted the urge and let her black dress remain as it would.

Auren nodded. "Yes, I suppose they didn't give you much information. Most of what they know about the target they know through me."

What to say and how to say it? Katashi had worked with her before, but that didn't mean they knew much about eachother's past. There wasn't too much about her past that Auren was thrilled with detailing.

"Well, I guess I can start by saying I know him from a long time before. Business partners mostly. Drugs. Guns. Some other things. And that brings us to our cover. Our being interested in business. Our mission is not just to kill. He's connected to the Bureau in some way, but we want more information."

With a sudden noise, the elevator announced its arrival in the basement.

Katashi politely stepped back to let Auren out of the lift first, then fell into step beside her, is perfectly shined shoes twinkling under the folded trouser-cuffs as they passed under banks of flourescent lights. "I understand," he stated simply. "What do you expect to learn from him?"

Jack ruffled her hair, knowing that her appearance was immaculate already. She pulled on her black body-suit. It had all of her gadgets and knives which made her job much easier. She was an assassin, thief, merc, whichever suited her. Her current employer had paid for her room that night, in addition to the downpayment. The employer was a rather shady character that was paying her a very large sum to steal the twelve fragments of what was formerly known as the Ritual Crown of Dreams. It was supposedly enchanted, but Jack knew for a fact that it wasn't. She was on her way to check out of the particularly garish auberge. She took off her respirator momentarily, while slipping on her face mask. Jack pulled on her gloves and satchel, before cloaking herself. She had the power of illusion, a very convenient power to have in her occupation. She now looked like a passable human in a white aran sweater, jeans, leg warmers, and high tops. She had to admit that she had way too much fun with fashion. She checked out of the gaudy inn, thankful to finally be leaving. She left her duffel bag at the drop-off point, collecting a check for her. It was from an unnamed account from some islands. She didn't care where the money came from. Jack walked down a random street, aimlessly wandering. She didn't have another job lined up, but she figured it didn't matter.

(( I erm.. didn't know how to start so here's Jack in a random part of the city! ))

((Other people! Wow. I’m going into shock. I’m not sure how to deal with this completely unexpected turn of events…))

Angel continued to ignore the child as he bounded about in front of her refrigerator. She had already determined that he was entranced by shiny objects- what was the harm in allowing him to play for a short while? It wasn’t until a cry of pain interrupted her rummaging that she bothered to take note of what was happening around her. Somehow, the dragon child had injured his already wounded arm, if the way he was favoring it was any indication.

She sighed in exasperation. She was hardly cut out to be a babysitter, though, this creature needed a keeper more than a parent-figure. She dropped to his level, muttering soothing nonsense to him as she gathered him into her arms. The tone of the words were meant to soothe more than make sense, so she hardly registered what it was she was actually saying. She gathered the medical supplies with her other hand, traversing the empty house back to the guest bedroom and settling him on the bed before dumping the rest of her things on a nearby table.

She carried a small vile of sour-smelling liquid back to the bed and sat down beside him, commandeering his hand in the same movement. She gently unwrapped the crude bandage and laid it aside, then scooped a liberal amount of the medicine out, onto the fingers of her free hand, before smearing it onto his wound. She blew a stream of cool air onto the cut, taking away the sting of the medicine, though not entirely.

((xD Shocking, isn't it?))

Auren stepped out onto the concrete. After she was back in step with Katashi, she tried to answer as best she could, "We want to know how he's connected and who else is connected. He never did anything alone. You have to have people ready to shift blame to and hide behind. But unless his other businesses are doing badly, there is probably a much larger fish in the water here that's controlling even him."
Auren decided it was time to give this pronoun a name, "Nathan always said that not having opinions and not taking sides made business better. Full name is Nathaniel Richard Torran. He used to go by Blancard but I won't get into that. No one calls him that now and if you do hear someone use it, know that something is very very wrong."

Not many other apartment residents seemed to be out tonight. Maybe it was the rain. Auren pulled her keys from her purse and stopped at a low profile two-door black sedan. An electronic beep came from the remote as the doors unlocked.

{Kekeke.. Cola all gone.. >_> <_< Oooh! I updated Yun's profile. Finally.}

Yun made a small noise as she aproached him, it sounding like the scratchy call of a small bird - in this case a small dragon - and lifted up his left arm as a gesture for her to pick him up. When she did he seemed to calm a little, his three blunted claws gripping her clothing tightly. There was a sound of sniffing and it soon could be labelled to be coming from the small dragonboy as he attempted to hide his head in her shirt.

He wasn't good with pain.

It wasn't until she moved away from him that he realised the change in scenery, but then again it wasn't much different than the kitchen, it just had a bed instead of the large shiny door. He sniffed once more, small tears dribbling down his face, and more tears were welling up in his eyes. He didn't want to be left in this room again. It was cold and his hand hurt... And she was coming back. Yun made sure she knew he appreciated her coming back over to the bed by reaching up his left arm again to hold her clothing once more, this time her sleeve. He watched what she was doing with his hand, intrigued at first, until his hand began to hurt again.

Instantly he jumped up and away from her with a yelp, tugging his hand violently in an attempt to get free. His clawed feet scrabbled against the bed covers, puling them all askew and creasing them whilst his left hand gripped one of the pillows. He gave a fearful cry, now becomming confused as to why she had hurt him - she had been so nice to him earlier and had even gifted him with a shiny ball. Why had she hurt him?

Preoccupied with the child’s hand, it took Angel a moment to register his sudden and abrupt change of attitude. He had been sad before, probably hungry, tired, and wounded. She couldn’t really blame him for needing comfort. What made her wary was that he was seeking this comfort from her.

She hadn’t done anything to warrant the behavior, but it seemed the boy had adopted her as a sort of mother figure, oddly enough. As soon as she had applied the salve to his wound, she had reached for the bandages, thus, when the unexpected tug-of-war began, she was ill prepared for it. She kept a grasp on his arm, even as the boy struggled, clearly expecting to free himself.

Despite the steely grip, her hand was gentle, inflicting no further injury or pain on the boy. Something she had done must have scared him. She had a brief thought for rendering him unconscious; she didn’t even need to touch him physically in order to do so, but eventually discarded it.

Instead, she gentled her touch even more, running the pad of her thumb over the back of his hand, humming the song she used to draw her victims willingly into her thrall. This was a slightly modified version. It worked on the same principals, drawing creatures to her, but instead of placing the victim in a trance as she so often did, this would merely calm and soothe the listener.

Hopefully, even if the underlying compulsion didn’t work on the dragon child, the intent in her voice would be enough to gentle him once more to her hand. For some strange reason, this little creature’s opinion of her had become rather important in the past few hours.

Yun gave a soft whimper followed by a sniff, his struggle weakenning as he began to realise it was of no use - she was stronger than him. Steadily his tugs against her hand waned and eventually deteriorated down to nothing, the small dragonboy leaning against her hand instead of tugging.

It was then a slight force, like a wind of sorts, began to push against Angel. It wasn't a strong force, but it was the slight sensation of being pushed away, but it disappeared as abruptly as it came as the dragonboy promptly moved towards her for comfort. There the force arrived again, pulling her gently towards him until he hit her torso, his arm gripping her tightly.

He mumbled something incoherent to her, sniffing once more, and buried his head into her clothing, into her chest. His tears left a slight dampness on the fabric, although Yun didn't notice all too much for more tears were yet to come.

Angel gathered the child into her arms, holding him close and rocking slowly, soothingly, back and forth, muttering nonsense as she stroked his back and hair gently. She was still fairly confused as to what had happened, but in the meantime, she had bigger problems. This little creature wielded magic, and a powerful kind too. Those little nudges of air had been tampering with the elements, hardly something she was equipped to handle. She took a breath, preparing to release the boy, but the tears trailing down his cheeks made her rethink her plan.

He looked so miserable, as if his only friend in the entire world had abandoned him. It was enough to cause a curious wrenching in the vicinity of her heart. She didn’t want to like this little creature, but somehow, despite the trouble he had caused, he had managed to wind his way into her heart and take up residence. It was a bit disconcerting for someone how prided themselves on having no relationships. Work was difficult, a tough way to live and it made it nearly impossible to form attachments to anyone or anything, so when she moved again, it made little difference.

She sighed and dropped her head down into the child’s hair, a single tear slipping down her face, one hastily brushed away and ignored. She reached for the gauze strips she had laid out wrapping the boy’s hand and gently threaded it around his wrist and palm to enable him a bit ore freedom of movement. She allowed him to remain seated on her bed and lap, but if it kept him calm and happy, she would suffer any indignity. .

{*whisper whisper* It's working, Yun, do it again *whisper* XD}

Yun mumbled something quietly again in response to her muttering, his left hand clinging to her as she rocked. He watched her hand reach out for some sort of material and bring it back towards him, towards his hand. Wary to let her touch his hand, he quickly snatched it away and tucked it against his form. It would take a fair bit of coaxing for him to let her to touch his hand again. A quick learner, but once he learnt it, it was generally set in stone.

Eventually, however, he deemed it safe enough to half reach out his right hand - she seemed to have returned to the comforting figure and so he risked her touching his hand again. Perhaps she had only hurt him by accident, Yun hurt himself once or twice through accident, although it tended to by from the evil inanimate objects that were out to get him.

Angel rocked slowly, even as she tenderly cupped Yun’s hand in hers, winding the gauze bandages about his palm with the utmost care, paying particular attention that she didn’t strike or jostle the wound in any way. Her little dragon was a bit of a coward, if his reactions to pain thus far were anything to judge based upon. He was continually getting himself into scrapes and hurting himself without actually meaning to. What was she to do with him?

Suddenly, the idea of selling such a sensitive, exuberant child to her cold and greedy contact left her with a decidedly sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. She swallowed thickly, bringing his right hand to her lips and pressing a gentle kiss onto the bandage, one so light that it hardly had the time to register, much less hurt. “All done.” She said, more for his benefit, then her own. “Are you hungry?” She queried softly as she started back out of the room and down the stairs. She left all the medical supplies in the bedroom, reasoning that she could always return for them.

Besides, if holding her little dragon-boy met no more windy gusts in a home with closed windows, she was all for it. When she entered the kitchen, she boosted him onto her hip and traversed about the kitchen with one hand free, tossing open cupboards at random and salvaging whatever happened to be inside. By the time was finished, she had assembled quite an impressive stack of various food items, canned or otherwise. Finally, her grip slackened and she allowed Yun to slid to the floor. “See anything you like?” She asked, gesturing at the pile.

{Oh and we're waitin' for a post from you in Isyl. If you wish to leave please say - I shall NPC your character to keep the story moving if that is the case.}

Yun made a small noise as she stood, his left hand gripping onto her clothing once more. He gingerly lifted his right to hook his two fingers in a fold of the fabric of her shirt, being sure to not hurt his hand anymore. His eyes watched where she was going, flicking down to watch the stairs disappear underneath them although he didn't really seem interested in anything about him.

Even as she rummaged through cupboards and shelves for something he didn't look in amazement or wonder, not even at some of the shiny things like glass encasing some sort of food. His tail was pretty limp too, not even twitching but just following each movement that Angel made whilst carrying him.

It was then that he was placed on the cold floor, somewhere he didn't particularly want to be, but he lacked the motivation to move and try to clamber back up his newfound adult. He followed her hand to the pile of foodstuffs, studying them whilst his stomach made growling complaints. At first he didn't see anything he registered to be nice to eat, he primarily ate the leaves of trees on the sidewalks and the flowers like dandelions.

A vegetarian dragon was an odd sight, but it was only through the lack of any tasty meat that he had turned onto things like grass to eat, turning into a herbivore. He had tried to catch a pigeon once, but it had hurt him so he didn't try it again - nor any other birds. He didn't like birds.

Slowly out of need more than want, he ventured forward in a slow and lopsided hop towards the food, his tail thumping limply behind him as he moved. He reached out to rummage through the pile with his left hand, looking through the strange packets and boxes with symbols and runes on that he didn't recognise at all. Then, on one of the packets there was a white box with lots of lines on it, he peered at it with half hearted interest, trying to decode the lines and the numbers underneath it.

Angel blew out a frustrated breath at the dragon’s obvious disinterest in any of the offerings. What if he didn’t eat solid foods? What if he ate some rare oddity that she would never be able to provide, much less discover in such a limited amount of time. The listlessness the dragon child was displaying was worrying her. She hadn’t missed the way his eyes had darted about the room the last time he had been in it.

The way he ignored the shiny décor was a sobering reminder that she knew nothing about the child’s habits or preferences. She could have already done something profoundly damaging to him, and not know it. She dropped her head into her hands, realizing she had only one real option. She had to return him to the hotel where she had discovered him and hope that whoever was there could help this little one before he wasted away.

She stooped, ignoring the piles of untouched food lying on the floor and lifted the shape shifter back into her arms with apparent ease. “Don’t worry little one.” She crooned, navigating her way out of the piles of food littering her kitchen. “You’ll be home soon and we’ll get you fixed up in no time.” She tossed a light blanket over him as she started out the door, ensuring that he would be comfortable for the long walk back to the hotel.
