Neko Kafweenu RifleArt Neko Kafweenu Wooh! We're almost done with our show, just a few more sets of closer. For the first couple performances we did opener and ballad, then opener, ballad, and some closer. Now for contest this weekend we've got some more closer on the field, and Grand Nat's we'll have it all! Before Grand Nat's even..... biggrin heart Well for us, we have 4/5 songs on the field, but also that is good for living in florida. Woah, you have 5 songs in your show? We just have three...... xd We had 5 last year. We learned our lesson; the whole band was exhausted by the end. So Mr. Hickey (our composer) made it shorter this year.

We have 5 Songs, and it aint exshasting. I guess it's just the athletic ablitiy of your band right. It aint hard though. Our show is over 7 min long but they have to be or they are too short. Your show has to be so long or it's too short and you'll get penalitys here for it.

Yeah, the show's long enough. I guess we have 3 long songs, as opposed to 5 shorter songs.

Well I like 5 songs better than 3 longs songs. The 3 long songs can be quite boring and repetetive. Just my opinion though.

Yeah, I can see what you're saying. I constantly have 1 of 3 songs stuck in my head. And sometimes, when one song finishes, the next one starts........ then that one is stuck in my head for a while. rolleyes

We've always done only three songs *shrugs* it never bugged me... they always seemed really short to me, but that's prolly b/c I'm so used to having taken forever to go over the work in learning and cleaning it, that doing it on the field seems so quick... *shrugs* oh well... it's even shorter in Winter Guard. We only do '1' song there... though, the last year I marched, we did a medly of songs from 'Dirty Dancing' xp

Yeah, I've noticed that winterguard shows are usually the length of one song. My director said that winterguard shows are a maximum of 3 1/2 minutes long, or something like that. wink

I know that Marching Band Shows have to be a min of 7 minutes in FMEA in Florida. That's why I was sort of confused when Durza the Shade said that they were exhasused after one year they had a show with 5 songs and are sticking to shows with only 3 songs because either way you have a certain amount of minutes. It might have been the demand of the drill. Maybe eh.
But in Winterguard you have to have a max of 4 minutes in FFCC for our class but I think for Any Scholastic or Independent Classes that are open or world that their shows can be 6 minutes but I'm not sure.
But Yall doesn't it seem like other bands (expectually boring ones) seem like their shows are so much longer than your own?

Well, it wasn't really the number of songs as the length; it approached 9 minutes last year. This year it'll be closer to seven when it's all out there at full speed, and, apparently, for our composer that means fewer and longer songs. There's a lot of variety within the songs though, so except for the main five-note theme, it's not very repetitive.

Okay, see that makes more since. Are you in a HS Band or College Band? Because not the fact that you have a 9 min show just the fact that most High School Bands want to make sure the other band has time to do their show. Did yall have alot of high tempo moments too?
That makes sense with alot of variety in the song. We have 2 Songs in our Closer but the 2nd songs going to be close to 3 minutes long.

HS band, and I don't know what you consider fast. We hope to have tempos in excess of 180 eventually; right now they're about 165. Having enough time for setup and takedown is another good point, considering how much manhandling the big square tarps we have this year are taking.
And now that this whole matter is resolved, I'll let you guardies get back to your guard talk. wink

(even if I did have my best performance so far that night)So true, but the 1 nice/sweet/kind cheerleader that I wanted on court didn't make it, only the snob ones. 3 other girls on court make it that i like, #1 who is a cheerleader she is nice but I just can't see her as homecoming court(thid girl is funny, 1 day she was like I have a game today and I didn't shave my leag in over a week, and I had to wear that cheerleading uniform). #2 is a nice black girl, and #3 is a nice other girl.
