It's not that pronounced and diffucult, really. Have an actual Japanese fan say it, and they get really close to it just sounding like "Dir en grey"
Dir - not dee-roo.
En - not ahn.
Grey - not a really long eeee at the end.
Actually, that person is right; there are different dialects to take into account as well as the syllabary concepts. I do believe this particular type falls under "hiragana." That's why people call them "Diru," because it's shortened version of "Dir" in hiragana [ or at least one of the stated concepts, I get their names mixed up. sweatdrop ]
