Sachiko nodded.
"Hai, just like that. My mom used to be a fortune tellr... My real mom, not that b***h my father married. I'd sooner bite off my own tongue and choke to death on the blood before I call that wicked witch my mother."
Sachiko sniffed huffily, flipping her heavy curtain of dark hair over her shoulder and ripping open the packet of kiwi gummies. She'd rather have the sweet taste of the candy in her mouth than the bitter flavor of speaking of her stepmother.
She glanced up to the stars as Ariko pointed out the constellations to her, and, despite her ill feelings of but a moment before, she began to smile. It was hard not to when he showed such exuberance over the subject.
"Oi, Riko-kun, you could totally be an astronomer when you grow up, ne? you seem to really enjoy it."

"A fortune teller, that sounds cool. I wish I could even remember my parents,....it's been such a long time since then." He kept his eyes on the stars, trying to fend off the ball of emotion welling up within him. It was hard to think about people you barely knew at all, but inside, there was still a small boy crying on the floor waiting for his mother to return to him.
Ariko looked from the stars in the sky to Sachiko and smiled as blush filled his cheeks as she complimented his astological knowledge. "Arigatoo Sachi, but I never thought about doing that. I've always liked it as more of a hobby than anything else. But I always di-....." He stopped as the words she spoke finally filtered into his mind. She had called him 'Riko-kun', and he answered to it as though she'd been saying it his whole life.
"You just called me Riko-kun? So is that my official name now, or you just having fun with it?" Ariko turned on the bench and propped his elbow up on the rear of the seat, smiling at the thought of her becoming more and more comfortable with him. It seemed the roof was the best place to sneak off to and talk to her about,....well,....anything.

"Hai, I did, do you not like it," th girl teased. She grinned brightly before raing the soda bottle to her lips once more, a soft jingle as the marble struck the side of it's glass surroundings. "It's just something I'm toying around with, but I like it, ne? It kind of suits you."
Her smile visibly dimmed, however, as she dropped her gaze to her canvas shoe clad feet swing just a bit above the ground. She set her soda bottle down on the ground and sighed softly.
"Perhaps it's better that way, ne? Not remembering.... I wish I didn't remember my father or his bride or their brats.... but I do, and i hate it. Mostly because it's obvious they are more than happy to forget about me, ne?" As she slumped forward, her dark hair easily obstructed her face from view, one narrowed violet eye barely visible through the ebony curtain.
"You know, in all the time I've been here, I've heard nothing about anything. Not when I'm getting out of here. Not how my so-called family is doing. Nothing. I think they might be hoping I'm one of the lucky few to die in here, they they never have to worry about me turning up on their doorstep. As if I would. Iie, first change I get I'm on the first plain, train, or boat that will get me as far away from this city as I can manage. Maybe even leave Japan altogether, ne?"

"Iie, I like it. But you're the only one allowed to call me that, no one else is special enough to say it." He smiled warmly at her but it dimmed a bit as her mood and expression completely changed. Suddenly she began to tell him of how much she truly despised the new life her father had made with another woman. He felt bad for her having to go through so much, only to end up in this hell.
As she expressed the desire to leave Japan all together, he felt a bigger weight of sorrow in his heart. Ariko didn't want to think of the eventual day when either one of them would be leaving each other, they had just became a couple for heavens sake. "But that would mean...." His own gaze fell downward, staring aimlessly at the gravel below his feet as thoughts of losing her ran ramped through his mind.
"Sachi,....if we were still together when either of us got released,....would you wait for me in,....Japan?" Nervously he clsped his hands together and fiddled with them, unsure of what her response would be. He couldn't really expect her to want to be with him even after being given her chance outside of Midori. But deep down inside he really wanted her to. She was so different from the girls he had dated before he was shoved into the pen with everyone else, and he wanted to know every thought she had.
But in all actuality, Ariko knew he shouldn't have asked the question in the first place. "Gomen Sachi,....you don't have to answer that. I shouldn't have,...." He couldn't bear to look at her for the moment, fearing he had spoiled things by letting his mouth speak so freely.

Sachiko blinked a bit in surprise as Ariko asked if she would stay in Japan and wait for his release from Midori. Honestly, she'd never considered it before. Aftr all, she'd had nothing to stay for, truly. So it seemed prfectly reasonable for her to leave without a care in the world... But now... well, now she had a reason to stay, didn't she? She had ariko now... but it seemed like that was a bit of premature thinking. Who knew how long ither would be there, or how long their relationship would even last. They could stay together forever, or breakup tomorrow. What should she say? She had no idea.
Ariko saved her from responding by apologizing to her, and sachko bowed her head. She was still unsure how to respond, but she didn't want to remain silent and run the risk of doing more harm than good. Slowly she nodded, reaching forward to take Ariko's hand.
"Hai," she replied simply. She gave a short nod before continuing on. "If we were still together once I was released, and I left before you, I would wait for you."

"Really,....you would? You're not just saying that, ne?" Ariko looked over to Sachiko with a thin smile on his face as she took his hands within hers. Although inside he was jumping with joy at the prospect of her actually waiting for him upon release, but his mind kept questioning whether she really meant it or not. He knew that at any given moment, she could grow tired of him completely and leave him alone to rot away here until his release.
"Arigatoo Sachi,....I really appreciate that. But I don't want you to resent me for it in the end, holding up your life and all." He shook his head from side to side, trying to clear any ill thoughts passing through his mind. Ariko really liked her, and dwelling on such an event could cause a bit of a rift between them. Trying to think of a more pleasant subject, he looked back to her and smiled a bit wider than he had moments ago.
"So,....are you wearing your hair up or down to the dance? But you probably haven't thought that far aheah, ne?"

"Iie, Riko-kun. I mean, I'm not making some heartfelt promise here. I'm just saying if we were still together when I was relesed, I would definitely wait for you. You know, assuming we are on good terms... but if we are still together, I don't see how we wouldn't be on good terms, ne?"
Sachicko twirled a lock of hair between her fingers, brushing the end lightly across her lips, her expression thoughtful, a slight frown wrinkling up her nose a bit. She did not really like the turn this conversation was taking... It was gtting far to heavy a subject when they were only begining their relationship to worry about how it may end. Her features noticably brightened, however, at the mention of the dance.
"Oh, hai, well... I was thinking a little of both, ne? I haven't worked out the style entirely, but I remember how you mentioned liking my hair down, plus I really ant to wear the pretty accessories you bought me. I'm thinking of having it down in the back, then doing someting a bit more intricte with the front, ne?" Smiling she raised her bottle to her lips, taking another sip, swinging her legs mildly as she did so.

Ariko chuckled as she made a mention of being on good terms and still being together. "Believe me, I don't want to be on bad terms with you in any way Sachi. So I'll do my best to keep you happy, I promise." He smiled as their eyes met and she began twirling a dark lock around her finger, brushing her lips with the end in her cute little nervous habit.
Ariko smiled at her enthusiasm and listened intently as she descibed the general idea of what she was going to do with her hair. He really hadn't meant to sully the mood moments before, but he just couldn't help but feel that way at the thought of her disappearing one day from not only school, but the country and his life completely.
"That sounds nice Sachi, I can't wait til then." Ariko leaned over and picked up his bottle of soda, pointing it away from the both of them as he pushed the marble into the glass and released the pressure within. "You're gonna look great anyway you decide to do it,...." He took a quick sip before looking back to her and finishing his sentence. "...., so I'll just have to wait on pins and needles."

"Oh, Riko... you flatter me." Sachiko placed a kiwi gummi between her lips, the offered the boy a bright grin. "Do you talk to all your girlfriends this way, or am I just special," she teased mildly, pausing her leg swinging to cross her legs at the ankles. She took a moment to gaze skyward. It was late... too late to even consider going back inside without definitely getting shocked. She'd never make it back to her room before curfew, even if she somehow managed to dive from the roof to her window, which she could see from here.
She actually didn't even realize it was her window at first, until she saw the string of multicolored beads that were attaced to the string of her blinds waving in a sudden breeze, her window being a slight bit open to allow in fresh air. She frowned a bit to herself, wondering just how well one could see into her room from here, but with the lights off it was almost impossible to tell.
"Well... now seems as good a time as any to gt to know one another bettr, ne? Tell me something about yourself, and I'll do the same. We'll make a game of it, ne? One of us can ask anything we want, and the other has to answer or... or... or they have to take something off, ne?" She giggled at the thought of it, not knowing how such an idea had come to her. But if either of them had a shred of modesty, it would certainly force honesty, wouldn't it?
"You can go first if you want."

"All of my girlfriends? You must be mistaking me for Motoki, I'm a one woman kind of guy you know. And yes, you are that special Sachi, I won't deny that." Ariko smiled before taking a sip of his soda and picking up his pack of gummi's. He ate a few pieces of candy while Sachiko looked to the starry sky above and lost herself in thought for a moment.
As she mentioned getting to know each other better, Ariko couldn't help but get a little nervous at the thought. Even if they didn't get to 'know' each other better, how truthfully he could answer was dependant on her questions. Hopefully he could avoid anything that might lead her to the truth about his family's business.
As she offered to let him ask the first question, his anxieties eased a bit and he thought of what he could possibly ask. "Okay,....well,....I guess I'll give it a shot." He cleared his throat before finally spouting out the first random thing that came to his head. "So what's your favorite food Sachi?"

Sachiko set down her the crinkly package next to her on the bench and folded her hands behind her head, swinging her legs. A soft giggled escaped her at the first question selected by her boyfriend.
"My favorite food....ummuh.... I'm pretty fond of korokke and yakitori.....my mom used to make the best korokke... we used to do it together. It was one of the few things I learned from her her... you know... before she got sick... I remember I used to try and make them for her, but it never came out as good as when she made them..." She laughed, a bit sadly. "They were awful, I know it.... but she ate them anyway and told me they were delicious. She'd say 'Oishii, Chichan. You are going to grow up to be such a great cook, ne' with the biggest smile on her face, even though she was so weak. She said it every time..."
The girl bowed her head a bit, and looked in danger of bawling. But after a few seconds, she lifted her head, and her customary smile was back in place, composure restored, eyes only a bit shinier than usual.
"I've gotten much better, though. Maybe... when we get out... I'll make some for you some time. It's the thing I make best, after all, ne? Oh, maybe they'll have some yakitori at the festival. Tha would be great.
"Ok, so my turn ne? What to ask, what to ask..." Sachiko lowered her hands from behind her hed and twirled a lock of hair between her fingers, brushing the end thoughtfully against her lips. She didn't want to ask anything too major too soon, and make the rest of the night one awkward affair that would make it impossible for them to entertain any notion of an ongoing relationship.
"I know... do you come from a big familt?"

"I look foreward to trying them one day. And I'm sure your mom wasn't just being nice, you probably are a great cook. You just haven't had the chance is all Sachi." He smiled warmly as she lifted her head from her moment of despair. It was probably due to talking about her mother and knowing she was gone forever.
As Sachiko sat pondering what her first question would be, Ariko ran through a gambit of possibilities in the mean while. He didn't want to come off as odd when she asked them, but he also had to be careful of what information he gave her. Even if keeping secrets could be a sticking point in their relationship later on, he didn't want to scare her off with the entire truth his family or their affairs.
The second the question fell from Sachiko's lips, it seemed like a crash of thunder and lightning went through Ariko's mind. How could he really tell her yes and no? Everyone who was brought into the organization was considered family, even without blood relation. But besides him, all that was left was his older brother. Finally choosing a wording that could probably spare him any further anxiety about the ordeal, he looked to her and smiled, though not quite as wide as usual.
"Iie,....just me and my brother really. But I do have alot of cousins,....but I haven't seen them in like forever. After our parents died in their accident, Ryusuke and I kind of just had to worry about ourselves. No one was really there to help in the end." He shrugged off his answer, hoping it satisfied her curiousity a bit. However, now it was his turn to ask a question but he couldn't seem to think of anything. He had put so much effort in covering his own a** that he forgot to even entertain thinking of another query.
"Gomen Sachi, I'm horrible at this. I can't think of what I should ask you next. Maybe you should go again and I'll try to figure out something."

Sachiko wrinkled up her nose, pointing an accusatory finger towards Ariko and wagging it in admonishment.
"Cheater! Unfair. Breaking the rules already... I hope you don't play all games that way? Any question at all would do." She flipped her long, dark mane over her shoulder before crossing her arms and giving a playful smirk.
"But... I guess I'll go easy on you this time. Next time there will be a penalty, ne? Ok, I'll go again." She made to brush the end of her hair against her lips but found her fngers empty, so she tapped her lips instead.
"Ok, what kind of things did you like to do before you came to Matrimony?"

"Gomen Sachi,....but what kind of penalty are we talking about?" Ariko didn't know whether to be afraid or excited for any resulting penalty for not asking her questions. "It might be worth it to just clam up, ne?" He smirked back at her, hoping she realized he was only playing around. If anyone would know, Sachiko would have.
"Well, I used to go to the arcade alot, usually after school, unless I decided to ditch. Maybe drive around town for a while with my friends, even though I didn't have a license. And then there was hanging out at Shimoto park after hours, we'd end up partying til the cops chased us away." He smiled as his eyes fell upon the darkened sky again, relishing the happy memories from the outside he still held onto. Hopefully one day soon, he could start living them all over again.
"Okay Sachi, I got a question for you. What makes you keep your hair so long? Not saying I don't like it or anything like that, but most girls seem to chop it off for no reason at all sometimes."

"heehee, chased by the police? Really... sounds exciting..." Sachiko smiled pleasantly, folding her delicate hands within her lap. Her finely sculpted brows arched upward, however, at Ariko's inquiry regarding her hair length.
"This... oh... well..." Sachiko blushed a bit as she unclasped her hands and stroked a long, dark, shiny lock thoughfully. "heh, well... to be honest, I'm kinda hesitant to say.... I wouldn't want you to think I had like mommy-issues or something. But she's the reason why I don't cut it. She always had such long, pretty hair, though it was a little lighter than mine. Closer to brown than black, ne?" She shrugged giving a nrvous giggle.
"I mean.. it's not like she made some request for me not to cut it... or anyone else for that matter. Well, that's not entirely true. My father's wife... she used to say long hair was so old-fashioned, and used to always try to take me to get my hair cut.... you know, back when she was trying to put of the appearance of bonding... befoe she got the brats she really wanted."
She lifted her head suddenly, violet eyes narrowed, but intent.
"I hate liars." It seemed to come from nowhere; there was no warning, no precursor... just that statement as she crossed her arms. "I can deal with a lot.... and I can forgive a lot... but I hate liars. I hate being lied to. Ariko, don't lie to me, ok? Even if it's something stupid, like you don't like the way I did my hair or if one of my uniforms are looking a bit snug or just not your cup of tea... be honest.... truth is always better than dishonesty."
She giggled again, shaking her head and her expression clearing.
"Gomen, Riko-kun...that was unexpectedly heavy, ne? I wouldn't want you to think I was a downer all the time."
