I have no idea how much Canadians had a hand in skateboarding.

Snowboarding? No idea either

I know basketball was invented by a Canadian in Massachusetts...

Hockey is supposedly Canadian in origin. There are many representations and reports of hockey-type games being played on ice in Canada and elsewhere, but the modern game was codified by students at McGill University, Montreal in 1889 and first played there. 3nodding

Suuuuurrrreee it was.
I thought you were a Newf, though. My stalking skills are getting rusty details must have gotten confused somewhere.

Anyways, McGill University, 1889. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. If you don't like it, cry me a river. And I'll make you a boat. talk2hand

"Stephen Harper Eats Babies" Blinked over LED signs every 3 seconds all over Toronto. A clever hacker managed to program the messege into all transit signs and update bulletins in the area.

Beware : Canadian leaders have been known to snatch up and devour small babies. exclaim

Oh gawd, I tuned in to the Rick Mercer report today...xD It was an hour special of 'Talking to Americans'. It is so funny how many people will just talk without knowing what they are talking about.

He got the freakin' governer of Iowa to say 'Congratulations Canada on having a 20 hour clock!'. xD

Mercer: "How do you feel about America invading Giles Ducepe?"
Random person: "I think it's the right thing to do."
lol

When asked about the Regina seal hunt, a Harvard student was all like "I'd like to vacation there some day", and Rick was like "Yeah, do some sailing in the icebergs" __"Yeah that'd be nice."

That's twice as funny coming from some hotshot Harvard kid. xD Oh yeah seal hunts in Regina. xd

As do I, I can't believe some of the things he got them to say. surprised whee

In the Americans' own defence, they are put on the spot. You can't expect every layperson to be knowledgeable about international politics and geography. Also, if our society weren't saturated with American media, we'd be just as ignorant of their world and maybe they could have a Talking to Canadians.

I'd also propose that the fact that he gets people who you'd expect more of, such as governors, senators, and university faculty and students, reflects more on people in positions we consider elevated and on our own assumptions and expectations of those people than it does on 'Americans.' Take a camera to our polititians or 'experts' and feed them some cheap, obvious, false spiel about something they're unfamiliar with, and I'd wager that they'll ignorantly nod along just the same as their American counterparts.

...Still, I don't deny that it's funny as heck. Just don't mind me ninja

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, but hey, at least we got to the idea of exploiting the funniness of it first. xd

meh...
I am thinking you Canadian's aren't as nice as we american's think you are...
we all think Canada is just full of friendly people just like us.
(that does sound amusing, I know there are stupid people everywhere)

Yes, but we have just as many Canadian jokes as they do American jokes I'd assume. I'ts more of a Hate/Hate that pretends to be a Love/Love relationship.

see, I tried to think of Canadian jokes and than I thought...
wow, I can't think of any...
can you? I was thinking we must as well, but...
I dunno

...cold pickled haring{sp?}...

Man, I love pickled herring! My grandma used to make it for me. She's from Germany by way of Canada. (My dad was born in Manitoba. Does that make me 1/2 Canadian? confused )
Sauerkraut with fish? I've never tried that. I eat it on sandwiches with corned beef or with potatoes and Polish sausage.

Zathura
... one goddamn confused kid! xd ...

Yeah. Gary and I ran into that problem with Eleanor. sweatdrop It's even worse since Gary really has no clue what nationalities he is. rolleyes So we're just going to tell her she's German, Irish, and Welsh, since that's what I am.
Kninja
...my blog is prettymuch just a list of things that I've recently eaten and my thoughts on them, so I know I could probably go on for a while. Instead, I'll stop here. 3nodding sweatdrop hehe.

Hey. That's a really good idea. I would have to go and raid the fridge after reading it though. We'd wind up with no food left in the house and I'd have to go shopping and I already spend way too much on groceries... sweatdrop
Zathura
...Also I find it very disappointing that Bush as a presidential candidate didn't even know...

Bah. Bush doesn't know jack.

Ha! The Americans are raiding your thread! No place is safe!
Basically, I finally got around to reading this thread. It's entirely too long. It's taken me about 3 hours. Though that could have something to do with Eleanor wanting cookies every 2 minutes...
Really though, I'd like to move to Canada. Seems like the percentage of idiots is somewhat lower there. And I really don't want to be stuck here when all America goes to Hell in a handbasket. (Or Heaven, considering our current leader. That would be worse.)
