Hikaru's smile flickered for a moment at this question, but she hid it by turning her head away and continuing to rummage around for more candy. When she turned back to Alex, she was smiling again, and she let out a small laugh.
"Oh... that! Well, I wanted to go out for the track team, but there was a lot of pressure from the school board to transfer somewhere else. I mean, we'd win a lot with my speed, sure, but they didn't want to deal with having to explain to the other schools in the district about why I was so fast. They said they'd get accused of cheating, or doping their athletes, or something... So I transferred here instead. They said it'd be a more level playing field, and I wouldn't have to worry about that kinda stuff." sweatdrop
She paused for a moment - probably just long enough for anyone who noticed these sort of things to realize that she wasn't being entirely truthful - before smiling again.
"How about you, Alex? How'd you find your way here?"

Alex knew Hiko wasn't telling the whole truth, but it would only be rude to take public notice of it. She dearly hoped her question hadn't brought up an unpleasent memories for her friend, it would be horrid to relize she had made Hiko feel any sort of sadness.
"How about you, Alex? How'd you find your way here?"
"Who? Me?" she broke out of her daze, gulped down another piece of candy, and smiled, "Well, see, when I was little, I always thought that humans were the only kind of people around. Just normal humans. No special powers, lives or anything. And I was homeschooled, so I didn't know what it was like outside our little neigborhood. But our neighbor, Mr. Florence, gave me these books that told about people like summoners, alchemists, and cat-folk. I kinda wished the world was like that. Then Grandfather told me there were people like that, just not in our neighborhood. It wasn't until just a few months ago that one of my other neighbors starting spreading rumors about Ria High School. That it had special students, like the ones in my books. I talked to Grandfather about it and he did some thinking, and liked the idea of me going to a real school, especially since I could still learn Taido here. He sent out an application form..and, well...here I am!" she took a deep breath and smiled wider, "And I love it here already," she said cheerfully and nudged Hikaru with her elbow, "Want some more pocky?"

Hikaru nodded at Alex's story, her eyes lighting up as soon as she mentioned Taido.
"You take taido? Really? That's awesome! What's it like? Do you think you could show me some moves sometime? I study judo, myself - I just got my orange belt a few months ago!"
She smiled proudly at this. She'd been taking martial arts since she was fairly young, but she was always the only girl in the class. It was refreshing to finally meet another girl who'd been studying martial arts for as long as she has.
"And I'd love some more Pocky!" whee

Alex smiled, it was relieving to see her so happy, "Taido is similar to Karate, but rather than kicking or punching in a solid line, you constantly change the angle of your punch or kick along with the axis of your body, and you use your whole body in an attack. You also have to have some pretty fancy footwork. Not to mention, that if you practice Taido, you can keep your organs very healthy," she tossed her some Pocky and giggled at her reaction to the Japanese snack, "My Grandfather runs a Dojo. Maybe you should stop by our house sometime, you could teach him something," she joked, but knew very well her grandfather was skilled in Judo, along with many other martial arts. Even if she had only just arrived at Ria High a couple days ago, she already miss him, "Hiko. I wanted to ask you something, if that's alright," she said shyly.

What Ai said is something know one can understand, Ai has this voice in the back of her head, that doubts everything. She has fears that if she loves someone that someone would go away, she has fears that someday her friends will stop being friends with her, and she also has fears that someday she'll leave Ria and everyone. Unfortunatly, Ai hasn't told any of her friends the real truth. That Ai is suppose to die around the time she gets out of highschool.
It has said that angel blood can cure anything, thats what Ai did when she was young. When her sister died, Ai was heartbroken, and without thinking she gave half her health-- her blood-- away to her sister, Feena. Feena regrets Ai doing that, in fact, Feena didn't want to come back to the living.
But Ai does have a crush, but she can never confess her love to him, even if she had the courage, she-- that little voice in the back of her mind, she tells her No, he can't possibly like me, i'm not good enough. Which leaves Ai like a little stray wolf, who runs along a path to find that once happiness that slipped away. Though, Ai has the attractive body image for a guy to fall in love with, Ai doesn't have the personality. She's stupid, shy, and gullible.
But overall, Ai isn't really into the whole love relationship thing, its just not for her. Ai has hugged guys, would that include hugging siblings? But kissing-nope. Ai has never kissed anyone, and she kind of doesn't. Her face would turn red as a tomoto if she ever had courage for that.
Ai smiled at Tomoro, Alyssa, Makie, and the others like it was no big deal. Thats when Tomoro said she picked Dare. Ai smiled slightly, but, Ai had nothing really in particular in her mind. She just stinks at games, she's always the underdog or the loser.
What to do.. ? What to do... ? she thought as she tapped her chin as her bright cheerfulness lavender eyes stared at the ceiling as she thought of a good dares to do. She didn't want to do anything that would include a past, everyone has something in their past they want to turn their back upon, and she doesn't want to dare something too risky.. or.. whats the word? Dangerous.
Thats when Ai's eyes flickered, what she thought of was funny and maybe a little corny. She looked at Tomoko with a straight serious face on and then a minute later smirked, it maybe Ai's first smirk since she smiles alot, even at random moments. Sometimes, Ai smiles randomly while staring at the chalk board in the classroom.
"Tomoro, I dare you to-to place your spare underwear in your bag and place it over your head and run around saying 'Ooga booga' to everyone!" Ai said as she laughed, mainly at herself, she's just a stupid silly girl.
(( I'm sorry, I had to think of something ridiculous, since Tomoro sounds like a serious person xDD ))

Hikaru smiled brightly at Alex's description of taido. All the footwork and moving around sounded like it could be a lot of fun. Challenging, too, but that was always a plus rather than a minus for Hikaru. As Alex spoke, it was pretty obvious that Hikaru was getting all fired up about the idea of watching and maybe learning a little bit about a new martial art. When the tone of her voice changed, though, Hikaru blinked a few times, wondering what she had on her mind.
"Hmm...? What is it?"

"I'm not too good at making friends. Grandfather was the only friend I've really ever had before," Alex smiled and perked up alittle bit, "We're both new at Ria High, but you know how to talk to people better than me. What is it that you do exactly? Or do people just find you naturally appealing?" she knew how stupid it sounded, but she had never seen other kids her own age before. Even at her family Dojo, the students were always adults, so it was difficult for her to know how to approach the other kids, "You teach me how to more outgoing, and I'll teach you Taido. Deal?" she asked. Now she was much happier, but only at the thought of Hiko helping her, "Please?"

Tomoro's eyes widened, and she let out a slight sigh of relief; at least it wasn't anything dangerous. However, when she heard Ai's dare... she turned a beet red, and forced a small smile. "Y-yeah... I... can do that... N-no problem." Her voice was stuttering, and she stood up quickly, clinging onto her pajamas for dear life.
Then, walking over to her sleeping bag, and putting her sketchbook away, she began taking out the many items she had brought in the room with her; Shampoo, a toothbrush, a razor... the average girly supplies that everyone needed. She also took out her spare pair of clothes, and layed all of these items in a neat pile. She did have quite a few strange objects in that bag, however... herbs, what seemed to be a gardening shovel... a bunch of strange looking packets of seeds... she couldn't help it, that was her security. Tomoro had to have the feeling of plants staying around her, no matter what.
Then, finally taking out her spare pair of underwear, hiding it behind her back, she gained the courage to yell out to the other girls. "Yo, look at these! Bear underwear!" Bringing them out, she flashed her underwear to the crowd of girls gathered in the circle. The low-cut briefs did indeed have a stuffed bear on them... and it had a pair of underwear on its head, too. Before she could turn a beet red, Tomoro put the clean undies on her head, and began flailing about, her pajamas flying in all directions. "OOOOOOOOGA BOOOOOOOOOOGA!" OH. MY. LORD. THIS IS SO HUMILIATING. BUT YOU CAN'T SHOW THAT.... you can't show them that you're totally embarrased... just do it quickly... and then pick your next victim. Heh. She seemed to bounce off the walls, her bangs falling in front of her face, long hair extended like a flag. Finally, she stopped, panting slightly, and laughing, just a bit, sitting back into the circle, pulling her panties off of her head and throwing them across the room back onto her sleeping bag.
Who should I choose.... next? Tomoro looked around circle, peering at all of the girls, one cheek puffed up. Not Makie... she just looks too innocent... Rivera here is just sketching away.... AHA! "Joy, I pick you! Truth or dare?"

Hikaru let out a brief sigh. She thought Alex had noticed her little lie earlier and was going to call her on it, but this request was definitely something she could handle. The slightly confused expression on her face gave way to her familiar bright grin, and she nodded, thumping a fist against her chest dramatically.
"Leave it to me! I'll help you make lots of friends! Any friend of mine I'm sure would be happy to be a friend of yours, so you've already got Terry, El, Yuki, and Tek in addition to me! You're gonna be just fine!" whee
She smiled again, giving Alex a supportive thumbs up gesture, a piece of Pocky hanging from the side of her mouth as she made her promise.

"Your so nice, Hiko," Alex giggled at her reaction, "You certainly have alot of friends," her naturally flushed face grew even redder at the thought of making new friends, "Thank you so much. For this, I'll make we're the best at Taido. And, you get more Pocky!" she handed her another box of the yummy stick snacks and giggled again. After a few minutes of thinking and snacking on cookies, Alex's eyes shot open, "Wait. El. I remember that name. Elspeth, I think her full name was. I met her around the same time I met you, right? And Terry, I think I overheard someone calling that red-headed boy- the one I didn't get a chance to meet- something like that," she said suddenly, a few crumbs falling from her mouth.

Hikaru smiled again, cramming a few more sticks of Pocky into her mouth and munching on them happily. She nodded as Alex recounted their first meeting in the courtyard with the others, swallowing the chocolate sticks down before responding.
"Yup, that's El! And yeah, Terry was that red-headed kid that was with us at the time. He's pretty cool - we're gonna play soccer together sometime, and maybe frisbee out in the campus quad in front of the dorms..."
She stopped, noticing Alex blushing and getting quiet at the mention of Terry. Her eyes narrowed a bit, and a big mischevious grin painted its way across her face.
"...Could it be that you think Terry's cute?" xd

"...Could it be that you think Terry's cute?"
"HIKO!" Alex's face turned redder than a beet and she quickly scurried inside her sleeping bag, "Your thinking is so abstract!" she hid her face and mumbled a few words to herself before speaking out again, "You dun' get any more Pocky..." she began, peeking outside her warm hiding place and playfully sticking her tongue out, "...Only cookies," she finished, and scurried back into her sleeping bag with a flashlight and book in hand.

Hikaru couldn't help but laugh at this. She honestly got that sort of vibe, and she was never one for subtlety, so she usually came right out and said stuff like this.
"Sorry... sorry! I'm just teasing! I hope you're not mad at me... He is really nice, though!" sweatdrop
She peeled back Alex's sleeping bag just a little to smile in and wink at her, and handed through a few more of the caramel chews from her pillowcase by way of apology.
"Don't worry about it. But if there ever is a boy you like, I'm on your side, okay?"
She gave another thumbs-up gesture, giggling just slightly.

"I'm not mad. And I don't doubt he's really nice. It's your sanity I'm questioning," Alex joked and sat up, taking the candy chews, "I forgive you."
"Don't worry about it. But if there ever is a boy you like, I'm on your side, okay?"
"I'll make sure to consult you later on the matter," she giggled, and returned the thumbs-up gesture with her own, "But it might be a long time before I develope any crushes. So go play cupid with some other innocent student," she smiled gently and popped the candy in her mouth.

Hikaru smiled back, glad that Alex wasn't too upset at her little joke, and pulled out some sour straws to chew on.
"It's okay. I don't really like to mess around with stuff like that anyway. I'm the same way with boys, really - they're fun to play sports with, but snuggling and kissing and stuff like that? Not for me." xd
She cracked open one of the sodas in Alex's backpack, taking another one and offering it to her as she took a few gulps.
"I'm just saying, if you ever need my help, I'll be there for you. Boys or otherwise, okay? Call on me anytime!" 3nodding
