Speaking of band traditions (was anyone actually? sweatdrop ) I was remembering that before every show we marched, everyone either clicked sticks, made that little "ping!" noise with their brass mouth pieces or...um I don't know what the woodwinds did. That was great fun. As for the whole thing with knowing everyone in a small band, I actually know everyone in my band. I'm bitter rivals with some of them...stupid trombone section leader... I'll GET YOU FOR THE SPIT VALVE INCIDENT! Ahem. sorry.

My band tries to alternate between "Crowd-pleaser" shows and "Judge-pleaser" shows. This year, it's a "crowd-pleaser." Our show is call "Peace, Love, and Rock-and-Roll."
Our opener is the song "Roundabout" by the British group Yes. It's pretty cool, and the Trumpets (because of phrasing) don't have to do the crazy marching we were originally doing.
Our ballad is "Cool Change," by the Australian group, Little River Band. It has a Trumpet trio, and it's pretty cool in general.
We haven't had toime to put our closer on the field yet (but that's what were oding this week). The closer, "Livin' in the Past" by Jethro Tull, has a long trumpet trio that is all double-tounged 32nd notes. It's incredibly awesome!
If anyone lives in the Piedmont-Triad area of NC, you should comne check us out.

I remember once my middle school director said that the trumpets sat right behind the clarinets and that the clarinets at her school were horrible so the trumpets would throw their spit on them from their spit valves. xp

Obaa-chan Our show this year is Carmen...we have an awsome show this year. XD [of course,it's my first show, but it still is really cool. O_O] Do you remember Candide? And Shaker Varients? gonk And the Aaron Copland collection!!! (Except Rodeo, that was great...) Yes, our show kicks butt. The first movement is "Carmen Opener," the second movement is "Carmen Gypsy Dance," and the third is "Carmen Finale." 3nodding It's really easy, but it sounds awesome. Gypsy dance is a percussion feature, so we've got some awesome charts. (We watched a video of our first show, and it looks really cool. Oooh, I'm feeling braggy again... stressed )

Durza the Shade But if you actually were forced to march in a show, your marching would quickly get better. So what do you do, if you don't have a show? Just march in parades? Yep, that's what we do. We march in the parades, then we play at the football and basketball games from the luxuary of our seats in the stands. In fact, we had a parade a few days ago, and we actually beat the other band. A traditional marching band at that. (With the spiffy uniforms that look really hot.) We were then sent off to the rodeo arena to stand in the wind and the dust for at least an hour. Everyone got dust on/in their instruments, and on their clothes, and in their hair. Then we played the Star Spangled Banner, then we walked back home. Now marching season is finally over, but I still have to deal with the obnoxious first flute. domokun

We march in all the parades around town, every home football game, and we go away to different competitions pretty much every weekend until December. We have three drum majors, one of which is one of my best friends, and have practice every day after school for about 3 hours. During the summer until band camp we have practice from 6:00 to 8:30 on Thursday nights, and then we have band camp the first two weeks of August from 8:00 am to 4:00 PM. We get an hour and a half for lunch though . . . But I still love it ^ ^

It's cool if we even get to go two contests, and i'm never really been to a compeition before. This year we might go to the state competition- but you have to score high at state contest.
