Musashi smiled and bowed as Cai told him what to do. He wasn't in too much trouble but he decided to keep it low key from here on out while remaining in Xia Pi. He wandered back to his room, taking many side routs along the way just to get some more fresh air. He unlocked his door and sat down in the corner on the floor. He wasn't used to sleeping on a bed just yet so he figured he'd just place a pillow on the floor to sit on and rest. He kept his sword leaning against his shoulder and his wakizashi on his lap with his legs crossed. As he rested he thought about the thief. He didn't feel guilty for killing the man but the way Xing Cai reacted bothered him. His sleep was light, as it usually was, and the slightest noise outside his room woke him up. He didn't shutter, just simply would open his eyes and fiercely look to the door. Eventually he fell into a deeper sleep but was awakened by a knock at the door. He stood up and answered the door. It was a guard and he did not look happy. "What's the meaning of this?" Musashi said, "Lady Cai said I could stay unhastled."
The soldier stared him in the eye and said, "I saw what you did... You did the right thing in defending yourself. That man was unstable. But what bothers me is that someone like you can exist! He didn't stand a chance in hell against you, anyone looking at the way you moved would know that you had already beaten him before the fight even began. Someone like you should not be allowed in Shu unless you serve it. I am in no position to ask you to join but I want to give you the choice to join us or leave. The men are uneasy with you around..."
"Say no more." Musashi said, "I will not join you. It's no offense to you, just I have a problem with serving anyone at all other than my own cause. You don't have to worry about me, I will leave here soon enough, but unless Lady Cai orders it, I will leave by my own free will." The soldier frowned and turned around quickly then left. Musashi gave him the answer that he didn't want and was rather upset about it. Musashi closed the door and took his seat again, to sleep the rest of the night away.

Cai returned the polite bows that she'd received and listened to what the two men had to say before nodding. "It is unfortunate that you came late, but now that there are fresh troops here it will definately boast the men's morale. I thank you for coming." She gave them another bow before excusing herself and going back around the city to check everything one last time before she herself went to retire in her quarters. As she walked through the halls she spotted a soldier leaving Musashi's room, looking upset. She only looked at him when he passed her but decided not to ask about it. The soldiers would be unsettled with the foreigner here. She continued on her way and then entered her room, setting her weapon and sheild down against her wall. She fell asleep quickly although lightly, briefly waking up whenever she heard something and then falling asleep soon after.
When Cai awoke again it was close to morning, but the sun still hadn't come up yet. She wasn't actually sure if it was the middle of the night, but she sensed that it wasn't. She got and took a bath, then changed and brushed her hair out. She parted it and then braided it with ribbons before pinning it with other ribbons and a baret before grabbing her shield and fork and then leaving the room. She went outside and looked around as the city became alive again, the sun's light filtering over the horizon and touching her face with warmth.
"Good morning." Xing Cai whispered to herself as she took in a deep breath of air.

"Wanna go get some drinks and have a good time?" Zhou Cang asked Guan Xing as Lady Cai left.
Guan Xing shook his head. "Nah," he rejected. "I'm exhausted, I'm goin' straight to bed."
Zhou Cang shrugged and went off. Guan Xing went into his room and barely had time to remove his armor before going to bed. Later, Zhou Cang returned to his own quarters in a drunken stupor. By morning, surely Cang would have a hangover.

Musashi woke long before the sun arose. He rarely ever slept for more than a few hours unless he was in a prison cell or on a boat, either way he wouldn't be going anywhere for a while so there was no reason to be awake in those situations. He sat in his room for a while then got up and left, not bothering to change his clothes or make sure his appearance was decent. He wandered out of the castle silently, not saying anything to any of the guards though they looked at him and made strange gestures at him. He wandered to where he could see the horizon so that he could watch the sun come up. There he sat and waited to view his first sunrise. As the sun came up he could see the land in a new light. It was rather beautiful in a different sence than Japan was. If you look west you would realize that it was much bigger than Japan is.
He leaned back and took in a deep breath, viewing the sky which still had some stars out. He looked around and noticed Xing Cai was standing there watching the sun come up as well. "Hmph..." he mumbled as he stood up. He approached her and said, "Lady Cai, I need to talk to you about your soldiers. It isn't my place to tell you how to run your kingdom but to be honest if they are afraid of me then they won't stand a chance against Oda Nobunaga..."

||Here. It's not much, but I wanted to use the small spaz that you guys gave me to make a post.||
Xing Cai turned her head when she heard Musashi's voice, half-surprised to see him still dressed for sleep. The reason why she wasn't so surprised was thanks to her father. One didn't have to take much thought to know exactly why this was so. She listened to what he said and nodded soon afterwards, thinking deeply about the samurai's words. It was true, in a way. The men of Shu drew their courage from the officers and the hope of restoring the Han back into its original ways. However the men that they were fighting against were different and didn't appear to hold the same prospects of battle. Their type of loyalty was different. It wasn't neccesarily held out of respect and binding of blood. Not the way that the Shu army was.
"I understand where you are coming from." Cai answered as she looked Musashi fully in the eyes, just as she always did when she was talking to someone. It was dishonorable not to show someone respect by not looking at their eyes when you were talking to them. "These people are not like anything that these soldiers have faced up against before. If the young commander and his army that we faced earlier is nothing like this Oda Nobunaga then I fear to think of what will happen. I would gladly accept any words that you have to say to me, for I know that what you have said already is sadly true."

Musashi nodded and returned her look to the eyes, "Yes, there is something that I can do to help. What they use, their weapons that you don't have... I don't think there is a word for it in your language, but we call it a "gun" which is a word borrowed from the foreigners that sold them to us. I have never been a fan of guns so I will tell you how to defeat them. Unlike bows they shoot a projectile in a straight line, arcing the shot of a gun is not useful. With this knowledge you can tell where the gun will be shot by where the end is being pointed. They are not good for long range with the acception of a few, but one would have to be quite skilled to use it effectively at long range. I only know of one man who can do so and his name is Magoichi Saika. You shouldn't worry about him though, Nobunaga is his enemy as well as yours. It is not impossible to deflect a bullet with a sword or in your case, your shield, but you need to see where it will be fired. Next, you need to know that Nobunaga is a vicious and ambitious man, and so are his officers. They will have no mercy on the battlefield and will even compete to see who can collect the most heads. Knowing this will help you understand how he thinks..." He paused for a moment, "Guard your kneck while on the battlefield the most. Your pretty little head will cause plenty of Samurai to fight hard to keep it. Lastly, your men need to know that the enemy is human, no matter how they may seem like demons. All of us, we're all human. We all bleed, we all die. I got the impression that people thought I was a savage so that is why I am telling you this." He stretched out his arms. "If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Personally I don't like Nobunaga, or Date for that matter, so I'll be happy to help you defeat them by providing advice. I won't fight for you though, not yet at least. I want to see what this land has to offer and serving someone just doesn't feel right just yet."
((By the way, Musashi slept in his normal clothes. Just a heads up.))

||Oh, and about the sleeping clothes part, I just meant that Musashi looked messy since you said that he hadn't bothered to fix himself up or anything.||
Musashi was certainly going to help her with this information. While it wasn't a lot, sometimes the smallest bit of information proved to be the most vital. In this case every bit was going to be proven very useful. Watch out for her neck? Cai nodded, a thoughtful look paused in her eyes. While she didn't quite understand why the men would want her head, she knew that having the head of your enemy to these people most likely had something to do with honor and status. It was just the same as defeating the most enemies, only in these foreigner's eyes, you would want their head to keep as a prize.
"I thank you deeply," Cai placed on hand against her cleavage and gave the samurai a small bow of respect. "The words that you have spoken to me should certainly be of great help to us in the future." She should take this moment to go and spread this information around. Or, she should gather the men up and tell this. She would tell them later once everyone was awake, many of the men would still me sleepy and might forget what she would tell them. "Please excuse me, and thank you again Musashi."
Turning around Cai walked through the streets, being sure that her people weren't too rattled before returning to her military duties. She checked the supplies that they had and was happy to see that their food supplies and most of their weapons were coming in well. And repairs were going well. Hopefully Xia Pi would be able to hold up well and wouldn't have to go through another attack like that, although inside Cai knew that this wasn't true.

Date lead his army from Bei Hai south to Xia Pi quickly after the people who wanted to join him had done so. Soon Xia Pi was visible and the army quickened its pace. It arrived mid morning and with a sadistic grin Date turned to his archer captain. "Ready the longbows! We'll hit them with a volley of fire arrows to start with and then we'll storm the gate. Musketeers take up the front ranks and pick off anyone you can! Other officers, do what you will. C'mon let's go!" The first volley of arrows was strung and the fires were lit then soon released with the wave of the archer captain's war fan. The arrows flew forward and rained down on the city, some crashing on the wall while others went over hitting whatever was unfortunate enough to be sitting beneath them. Date then raised his sword and pointed it toward the gate. Several hundred men rushed forward and began the attack.

Yoshitsune and Benkei followed behind on their horses and waited for something to happen. The fire volley would certainly get things moving in the city and pretty soon they would be able to fight. However, this seemed like it would be a long siege battle, not really a battle where there would be troops fighting troops on the field. Both of them hated that kind of fight so they decided that they would skirt around the city and scale the walls. They would attack from inside while the others attack from outside. It was a good plan, but they needed to get inside first. Yoshitsune nodded to Benkei and the two of them backed off out of sight from the city and circled around to the western part of the territory then headed east again. Xia Pi was back in sight and they quickly approached it. The walls were taller than they thought, but not impossible to scale. They would need a couple of grappeling hooks, one for Yoshitsune and two for Benkei just to compensate for his size and weight. They waited at the base of the wall until the entire army inside the city had its attention focused on Date's army. Once that happened they would be able to scale the wall relatively unnoticed.

As Xing Cai studied one certain part of Xia Pi she suddenly heard screaming. As her head snapped to a side she spotted arrows falling down from the sky, all of them on fire. It looked like a tsunami of golden flames. Without hesitation Cai yelled out as loudly as she could: "Take cover!" While ducking down and pulling her sheild up, curling her body as best she could to protect herself. She listened as the arrows whistled through the air, the flames that made them even more venomous hissing as they lodged themselves into the ground. Once the wave was done Cai dared to look over, her eyes scanning the area. Some of the soldiers hadn't been able to take cover quickly enough.... No! She should have noticed the arrows faster! Now these men were injured because of her.
"Sound the alarms!" Cai ordered as she stood up, looking at the men who hadn't been hurt. "Take those who are injured and take them into the infirmary! I want the gates to be sealed! Head to protect the gates as soon as possible and fire down anyone who gets close to our walls!"
No! Another attack... again!? Xing Cai ran to the direction of where the arrows had been fired, standing on the wall and looking down. It was that young commander again! They only had a limited amount of supplies with them. This battle would prove if Shu was in the favor of the heavans or not.
"If they get any closer I want them to shot down! I want some units to circle around the castle and watch all of our sides in case they try to sneak up on us!" Cai watched as the soldiers raced to fulfill her orders, all of them striken with pure fear. Cai was an inexperienced officer, this was what they were all thinking, she knew it. However she would not let this get in her way!
"I am the daughter of Zhang Fei!" Xing Cai declared, and despite the fact that her voice was usual calm as she said this words she said them in just the same ferocity as her father would. She lifted her fork and pointed it out to where Date was, powering her words. "His spirit flows through with my veins, and his strength is mine! Let us share this power together!"
With those words a huzzah came out from the men, and Cai slowly lowered her fork as she kept her eyes locked on where Date was.
A showdown between the two youngest commanders of each army would begin. A battle of youth.

Date grinned an evil grin as he looked up at the young lady. He recognised her from before. She was one of the two comanders that shot bags of gunpowder at his army before! As she pointed her fork at him he grinned even larger. This time he wasn't at the front line but was more in the middle of his army, sending men forward to storm the gate and build ladders to climb the walls. His musketeers readied their weapons for the advance and the archers strung their bows for another volley. "No fire this time! Fire your arrows from left to right and shoot three, one after another after another! Keep the pressure on her and don't let them think!" He shouted out his orders as he looked at the young lady. He raised his right hand, sword in hand, and pointed his weapon to her with a grin. "She's going to have to fight to get to me if she wants to fight... I am not going to allow her to fight me at full strength." Normally he would have rushed forward, but not this time, not with an injured arm.
Musashi was busy walking around after his conversation with Cai when suddenly a volley of fire arrows was launched at he city and he just so happened to be standing under where a few of them were to land. They fell quickly but uniformally. With a small smirk he placed his hand on his short sword and waited for them to come to him. They were upon him quickly and he slashed out once for each arrow, cutting it down before it could do any damage. The sheer force from his slashes was enough to extinguish the flames and the arrows were rendered useless once they had dropped to the ground. He quickly looked around and ran back to his room. He grabbed his bag that he had brought with him and ran back out to the western wall. "Figures, I had a feeling Date wouldn't give up so easily..." He knew that the main gate would be swarming with Japanese soldiers by now but he knew that he had to get out of the city right away for several reasons, one of which was that he was a foreinger and the soldiers would find it hard to resist attacking him while the city was under attack and he really didn't want anymore dead Chinese bodies here that were killed by his hand.
He ran to the stairs and ascended the wall quickly, dodging troops that were scrambling around trying to assess the situation. There were no troops that could be seen on this side of the wall so Musashi would use this opportunity to escape. He reached into his bag and pulled out a rope, which he fastened to a part of the wall. He looked down and just as he did so he could see two men standing at the bottom of the wall and it was then that he noticed the grappeling hooks on the wall. Normally he would just descend and face them down there, but these men seemed different... They weren't part of Date's army, though they were definitely Japanese. He figured that they were just two men, what damage would they do if he let them climb to the top of the wall? He waited for them to climb up patiently.

The invaders were running forward, and she knew that they would try to break the gates down and climb the walls. Gritting her teeth Cai yelled out another order, telling the men to use some of the extra wooden beams that were there and to put them up against the gates to make it harder to break through. This would be a difficult and tedious battle. Cai was the only officer there at hand, she did not know where her cousin and friend were. For all she knew they could be sleeping, after all they had been rather exaughted. Despite the fact that this battle was not tipping in her favor so far Xing Cai had absolutely no intention of losing. Regardless of being alone she could not turn away in fear. No, she would not let her enemy see any of her weaknesses.
It was difficult to watch the enemies actions when she had to keep ducking in order to avoid the arrows that were constantly flying down at her. How had they gotten so many supplies in such a short time!? No seconds to spare upon that thought. Cai needed to come up with a way to counter attack- and fast. So far all that was happening was that her force was off balance. The arrows seemed to be coming in all directions... wait... wait a moment.
"I want the archers to fire on the opposite side that the enemy arrows are coming down on!" Xing Cai ordered, her eye brows fixed together in intense thought. Could they use the same attack as last time, shooting the arrows with gunpowder? They had such a limited source of supplies, and the men who were out on the battle field were being easily overwhelmed. Cai wasn't sure what to do- should she go down and fight along side the men there, or stay here for strategic means? If she went down she would be trapped outside because the gates would be enforced with those logs... no! She'd locked her men outside! A sudden feeling of guilt swept over her, and for a split second she was unsure what to do. If she left either side, would she be abondoning them?
"Do everything you can to keep them away! Fire arrows-use the gun powder tactic again if you must!" Another second of thought as her eyes moved over the formation of the enemy army- "Cut down the ladders as they come, and set half of the arrows on fire and shot them at their supplies! Send a messanger to Xia Pei, we need reinforcements now!" With those words spoken Cai jumped off of the wall, landing on the ground in a roll. Straitening herself Cai brought her fork and ran into battle, rolling down on her foot in a duck and making a horizontal slash with her fork at their knees, knocking down several men at the same time. Once they were on the ground she stabbed them, then stood back up to fend off anyone else who came her way.
'...Father... Uncle Yu... Ping... give me strength to win this battle!'

Guan Xing was alerted as soon as the sound of death filled his ears and chaos filled the streets. Fires sprung up sparatically from the fire arrows and soldiers fell in dissaray from the confusion. Guan Zing ran out into the streets, barely in any clothing at all.
"Put out those fires!" he yelled out at a soldiers near him. "Secure the gates, and for the heaven's sakes, fire back at them," he directed to the archers around him as well.
Zhou Can stumbled out of his stupor, his ears rang from the party in the tavern before. He had engaged in a drinking contest with some soldiers, won, but at a high cost. The chaos around him was drowned out by the buzz in his ears and ringing in his head. He rubbed his eyes, then suddenly caught realization of what was going on, they were under attack.
"Give me my horse," he mumbled. "And my armor, and my spear, and my sword." He swung around wildly confused, if not more confused than the men. "Do something about these fires, we will all burn to deat before we can fight them if you don't."
His words were grumbles mostly, but around him, his command was heard. His aides and runners went out immediatly to carry out his task. How could they have been caught off guard so easily? Wasn't there any posts? Then he remembered where the post was, with him, and drunk.

Yoshitsune climbed first followed clumsily yet quickly by Benkei. They reached the top of the wall and focused mainly on getting up over the edge and once they were up top they caught Musashi in their eyes. Yoshitsune looked to Benkei with a grin. "I never thought that the first person that we'd see here would be Japanese... I guess not everyone has the same sense of honor and loyalty to country as we do." Benkei nodded and stepped forward, reaching for his naginata that was strapped to his back. He held it forward in a middle position and spoke loudly, "You will let us pass or fight me." Yoshitsune began to walk toward the stairs and Benkei made sure that the other samurai would not be able to stop him.
