5. hashem's name (no pun intented) is not "yahweh". none of his names are "yahweh". and he has ALOT of names.

It's not one of his names? sweatdrop I thought that when they say "yah-weh" they were reffering to the shem-hayihud... Yud-hey-vav-hey. Your not supposed to actually pronounce it, and even now that they did, they pronounced it wrong, so... I don't know if that's supposed to be good or really sad...

one of my favorite quotes for this:

Quote:
"The fact remains that over four-thousand years the idea of a covenent between the jews and jehova is still alive and mentiond daily in prayers in synagogues across the world. Though many aspects of judaism and jews have been changed or modified during their subsequent four-thousand year history, this idea of a covenent with god has remained constant. This in turn gave rise to a "will to survive as jews", which has been the driving force in judaism. Without it there can be no judaism and no jews. When this concept of covenent dissapears, when the jew, through a lack of his inner compulsion, no longer wishes to retain his identity as a jew, then nothing will stand between him and assimilation, between him and his final disappearance."

that particular shem is spelled out with nekudos in a few places, yom kippur davening for example. and it's not "yahweh". nor "jehovah" though that being more about the "j" than anything else. and even then, it's not it.

i should start a thread on that.

it's good, but not entirely correct.

no, just satire, some disdain, a little bit of sarcasm. not really any arrogance at all. i leave arrogance out of torah. it has no place there.
