Maybe it could be kinda like Silent Hill's noise effect. Where you could turn it off and play it clean, but purists would play it like it's Night of the Living Dead.

I kinda hate the original, it's laughable but annoying because it screws up what chirs and jill look like in my head.
I love the remake one.

I like the REmake intro better because of the sorrow and pain in Joseph's voice when he's being torn apart. I don't know I thought it was the best voice acting I've heard in a Resident Evil game, really caught my ear.
