Well they're both different you see.
Kakashi is obviously more stronger because he has the ability to use his chakra unlike Gai. Gai-sensei is unable to but he has great determination and self pride which makes him just as equal as Kakashi in my eyes ^-^.

SeiryokuX I have yet to see Gai get his butt kicked........... sweatdrop i have yet to see Gai face anyone besides a Jounin, and don't give me that "He faced Kisame" he faced a guy that looked like him and only had 30% of his charka and Power.

Kakashi seems like a better fighter.
Gai is looking more so for a rival, while it seems Kakashi cares a lot less.
He can copy techniques with the Sharingan, while Gai cannot.
Gai may be determined and strong as all get out, but he obviously always gives it 110%.
Kakashi kicks some a**, normally, just about as much as Gai, but Kakashi plays around a lot.

I think there's no real difference. It's all relevent to those who see it in one's own perspective. So Jiraya, haha just kidding. Though Kakashi would kick Gai's a**, Gia'd have a chance. I see no real difference in both of them.
