Rex had gotten too close to the ropes for his own good. His ego getting the best of him. It allowed Salem a shot at hitting his finisher. And hit it he did, leaving Rex lying motionless on the mat.

The fans were in a frenzy as Salem hit the "Cause Of Death", leaving Rex flat on his back in the middle of the ring! Salem, himself, was worked up, recognizing it was now or never if he wanted to put this sinister serpent down! Dropping to the mat atop Rex, "Showtime" would hook a leg and lean back into Kobra's shoulders, trying to put him away!

Rex didn't move.
"2..."
Rex still didn't budge.
"3..."
As Rex lay, nearly unconscious, Ramona ran down from the back and slid into the ring to check on her brother.

Mick Foley counted to three, calling for the bell as fans erupted with cheers! Helping the haggard Salem to his feet, the Hardcore Icon raised Croft's arm in victory, "Showtime" cradling his ribs and struggling to catch his breath!
Ramona slid into the ring nearby to check on Rex, and Salem briefly glared at her for the interference she played during the fight, but brushing it aside a second after, Salem would ascend the nearest turnbuckle and gesture to his fans, thanking them for their support as he stood wounded but victorious! "Salem wins! Salem did it, and now the Savage Sons get their rematch at SummerSlam! The Syndicate tried to stack the deck, but "Showtime" shuffled their plans up!"
"That was crazy, J.R.! And I'm not just talking about the creepy hooded people! These fans are going wild!"

Ramona stood and stared at Salem, angry at him for his victory.
JR: I don't like the way she's looking at him, King.
King: I know what you mean, JR. Its dangerous when any woman has that stare but its really bad with The Vipress.
The lights went out for a moment and then came on red again. From the back, down the ramp, the cult members started emerge again. Chanting for their leader to rise. On the mat, Rex started to stir as the cult members drew closer, their presence threatening more violence on the horizon.

Salem was moving up a second corner to honor his fans when the lights went off again suspiciously, the foreboding red glow returning as the cultists started to descend from the stage down the ramp towards their leader and his enemy! Salem eyed the group wearily, clenching his fists before Foley put a hand on Croft's chest and said something inaudible to anyone but "The Copperhead"!
Instead of confronting the swelling group, Salem slipped out of the ring on the announcers' side, going over the barricade and making his way out through the satisfied and supportive crowd! Meanwhile, Foley once more wielded his weapon of choice, flaunting the barbed wire bat at the group descending the ramp in a threatening manner, standing between the cult and ringside! "And here comes the cult of Kobra, again - but Foley isn't having it! He's gonna direct traffic while Salem gets away!"
"After getting involved here, J.R., those weirdos might leave Mick directing traffic when all's said and done!"

The cult started to retreat, still chanting. Ramona kneeled down and helped her reviving brother to his feet. Together they exited the ring and started up the ramp. As they got part way up, Kobra stopped and turned to stare into the camera that was following them.
"This isn't over, Salem. You won tonight but I am not done playing with you. And Foley, for getting in my way, you better know that you are walking in the tall grass now where the serpents dwell and wait to strike. You will suffer for this. Both of you will."
With that he turned and stormed up the rest of the ramp and went into the back with his sister in tow.
