“I’m fine. This guy is cute though, right?” Ezili kept rubbing the beak before finally pulling away and looking over at Xylia. “Just…keep an eye on my aunt? I’m going back to the forest soon but I know she’s opening an academy in the near future. No more trouble, alright?” She was truly concerned about her aunt. What if more thugs showed up and she got worse than a cut in the side? Ezili wouldn’t tell her who she should or should not be friends with…they just needed to be a bit more careful, that was all.

Quiana smiled as she watched the earthlings walking through the stables. Maybe they were a bit more resilient than she thought. Others spoke like such wounds would have them bedridden or even kill them if not that, but there they went. She was just thankful that she could help. Noelani would have to wait, this was more important and she would see her soon enough hopefully.

Guilt flashed over Xylia’s features but she nodded. “I’ll do my best to keep her safe. No more thugs, I promise.” She forced a small smile towards Ezili before Cahira’s approach caught her attention. “Is everything alright?”

“Yeah.” Cahira nodded. “We’re going to go see the xaraan. Ready?” Despite everything she was determined to put on a brave face, especially since Sybil was calmer now. If the Oban girl could keep her composure after everything then so could Cahira. Plus, they had some xaraan to see! That was exciting, right?

“Let’s go!” Ezili brushed past Xylia, giving her a slight pat on the arm as if accepting her promise. She would just have to trust Xylia’s word. It wasn’t as if Ezili could drag her aunt into the forest to keep her safe, as tempting as the thought was. “You sure I shouldn’t get a xaraan? What if it really likes the forest and could learn to fly?” She joked quietly as she followed along.

Earthlings definitely were resilient. Quiana chuckled as she trailed behind, her gaze skimming over the xaraan. So that was what they looked like. “You don’t have janarim, right?” She asked quietly from behind, her gaze burning with curiosity despite everything. Even though she was here to learn about her family, it was also best to try and learn as much as she could about these foreign countries as well.

“No janarim here.” Xylia answered for Sybil as she followed along as well, her gaze floating over all the different types of xaraan. “I could show you some janarim once we’re finished here. Cahira may be able to direct you to some for purchase, also.” For now though she was just focused on finding a new mount, eager to have a way to travel quicker so that she could cut down more smugglers as soon as possible.

“True.” Cahira nodded her agreement as they approached the pen with their potential mounts. “Xaraan are cute if you wanted one of these, but I also can help you find a janarim. I owe it to you after helping us today.” She helped Sybil to open the fence and walked in to look over the younger xaraan. “Oh look at this white boy with silver markings. I love him!” She noticed one that reminded her of the night sky with a deep indigo body and black markings, “Perfect for you, Lia.” She suggested, determined to enjoy the rest of the afternoon despite their earlier hurdle.

“Janarim are cool.” Ezili commented as she reached over to pet one of the xaraan, a gentle golden one. “Cahira also owes me a kinfa, so I guess we’re just going ot find all the familiars.” She teased playfully. Jeez though, talk about an afternoon! Even Ezili was more than ready to go home and crash before any more adventures in Oba.
