Vaylin had come home after a trying day at her day care job, She tossed her purse on the coffee table that sat in the center of the tiny loft apartment she had managed to procure. Human children were exhausting, but she supposed they did have a certain incorrigible charm and additionally they provided a lot of free energy. She thought about this as she deactivated her glamor and examined the crystal full of energy she had collected at naptime. She tossed the crystal on her table with her purse. She grabbed her dagger and began checking it's charge and making sure it was calibrated correctly. She was about to sit down on the cushions she used for furniture when suddenly the cadet felt herself falling when she should have been on a fluffy cushion.
She had not seen the rift that had opened up beneath her in time to stop herself from falling into the dark realm. She thankfully hit a solid surface quickly enough and didn't fall to her doom. She gazed around trying to figure out just what in the world had happened. However she did not have the luxury of time to figure out the situation as the scene before her eyes was mayhem.
A large group of people were here likely brought here similar to herself, there were knights, senshi, officers, other members of the Vanguard, and what looked like normal humans. Then there were monsters, youma was her first guess however from what she understood youma served the Negaverse yet these monsters attacked the group indiscriminately even the agents of chaos. So perhaps they were not youma, that did beg the question of what they were. She didn't like an unknown threat like this but she couldn't dwell on it as one of the monsters came at her, she managed to dodge around it and strike it with her dagger as she tried to put distance between herself and the beast.
Then the monster, along with many of it's fellows, suddenly crouched down which made Vaylin c**k her head in confusion for a second but then she felt the electricity go through her like a slice, it sent sparks of pain through her body.
She recovered quickly, thankfully the weird shock didn't seem to do any physical damage. Vaylin noticed that the monsters were all trying to get to one place. A giant rift. She had no clue what was in there but she doubted it would be good if the monsters reached that point. She continued trying to fight off the monster as she was pushed back towards the rift.
Ara was out on patrol that evening, she was walking along a jogging trail in a local park when something strange caught her eye. She noticed that a tree just off the path was looking very strange. Taking a closer look at the tree revealed there was some sort of rift in reality inside the tree trunk. She couldn't tell where the rift went to, some dark realm. As she was examining the rift she felt a pulling sensation as she found herself tumbling into the portal.
She ended in a dark area surrounded by a large group of people, including those powered and civilians even the aliens. It was an eclectic group to be sure but more alarming then whatever brought a group of knights, senshi, and officers together in this strange space was a pack of seemingly rapid creatures attacking the group. Horrible monsters that were violently attacking anyone in their way, she would have thought they were youma but she could not feel any chaos from the monsters.
A couple of the monsters turned her way, and rushed at her. She barely had time to call on her magic "Infinite Light Parade!" Motes of light blasted the creatures back. She readied herself for a second attack when suddenly the monsters ducked down. She barely had time to process what was happening now when suddenly her body was racked with pain as a jolt of electricity sliced through her body. The teen senshi dropped too her knees as she tried to grit her way through the pain, she was thankful at least there didn't seem to be any physical damage done to her. "What the hell is going on?" She asked no one in particular.
Infinite Light Parade
Six motes of light appear in the air behind Ara and fire toward her opponent(s). The blasts of light knocks an opponent back and blinds them and can at the other player's discretion leave a cut and burn where the light hits them (As a chibi the cut and the burn are minor). Quetzálcoatl eyed the portal that was in the brick façade of an old store she had passed on her way home from a babysitting job. As soon as she saw the strange rift she had transformed into her Senshi form. The teenager examined the rift wondering what it could be. She didn't think it lead to mirror space, for one she was fairly certain the only way there was through a mirror but for two the other side looked too dark. She wondered if this was a common site for senshi to run into, she was still so uniformed about much of this magical world. She closer to the rift to see if she could see into the realm on the other side. However when she got closer she felt a pulling force on her as she stumbled through the portal.
The tall 14 year old found herself shaking her head to clear away the dizziness from landing in this new dark place. Looking around the place she found herself in was crazy there were senshi and other magical people she didn't know about, and even what looked like aliens, fighting a bunch of horrifying monsters not too dissimilar to the Youma she had seen on the night she had met Remarque. However now she could feel what chaos felt like and she knew this was not it, whatever these monsters were they were not the product of chaos. A sinking feeling hit her gut as took in all of the helpless normal people who had clearly been trapped in this dark realm as well and who were trying to flee from the monsters. She might still be new to her powers but she had to try and help.
She spotted a group of monsters, she ran at the monsters as she called on her magic. "Howling Doom Storm!" A violent and cataclysmic storm forms over her. Wind and lightening lashed out at the creatures driving them back. The monster began to crouch and at first the young senshi celebrated thinking they were cowering back from her storm. However that thought was ended abruptly as pain racked through her body electricity dancing along her skin. It seemed she was not the only person here slinging around lightning. She collapsed to her hands and knees from the pain as she tried to collect herself as she caught out of the corner of her eye the direction the monsters were clearly trying to get through to, some huge rift that lead to gods know where. "What is that?"
Howling Doom Storm
Quetzálcoatl calls out the name of her attack as she holds her hand up in the sky a violent and cataclysmic but localized storms forms over her. Wind and lightening strikes at one of her opponent. If hit by the lightening her enemy feels the sensation of minor pain, including first degree burns, for the duration of the magic. Players can choose to take damage that persists after the magic ends if they prefer. Range: 10 ft Duration: 25 seconds Uses:3
A fissure opened up and deposited a nimble-footed Vyn onto the platform. He landed on his feet as a result of his training more than any expectation he had to find solid ground waiting for him. Truly, at this point, he didn’t know what to expect.
How long had he been gone? Where were the others he’d met? A quick look around the area and he wondered, had everyone here been in the same predicament? There were so many…
Not just people, either, but creatures. Creatures that were similar to and yet not at all like the monsters employed by the Negaverse. They seemed to be in a rush, stampeding in the direction of another fissure — this one larger than what Vyn had come through, as if the environment were splitting apart at the seams. Vyn shot at a creature that drew too close, heart rising into his throat.
What was this? Where were they?
Too many questions. That always seemed to be the case on Earth, if this was even Earth. In all his time on this planet, he’d never encountered a place like this.
Vyn ducked out of the way of another oncoming creature and put what distance he could between himself and the swarm. He looked around, searching for familiar faces, and approached the first one he saw…
And stopped, because it was not one of those who’d been with the Commodore in the Dark Kingdom.
“Vaylin,” Vyn said.
Was it disappointment he felt? Betrayal? Anger? Some weird mix of it all, tangled with relief?
Whatever the case, they were in danger here. He pushed it down, told himself he’d examine his own feelings later. He couldn’t allow what occured all those months ago to affect him now.
Atheneite had just finished draining some poor fool she had come across in darkened side street. Likely someone too drunk to know where they were, too drunk to know the dangers that lurked in the darkness. She had toyed with the idea of taking his starseed as well, it was always useful to have a few of those on hand after all. However she decided a murder was not really worth it tonight. She tucked the energy away into subspace as she started to walk always. She couldn't have expected to suddenly walk into a rift in reality that opened up right in front of the Captain.
Athenite looked around at where she had stepped into, some kind of dark realm crackling with energy. She could feel energy all around her as she tried to pull some of the energy to her like she did when draining a civilian. She managed to get a ball of energy but as she did she felt a backlash jolt through her as she was lanced with pain. She quickly put the energy away and decided not to try that again. She was fairly certain she was not on Earth and this was not Negaspace. She took in the group that was currently engaged in a fierce battle, Order, The Negaverse, The Dark Mirror, even the Vanguard were engaging strange monsters. There were also civilians here, not her concern but still it was an interesting note. It seemed wherever this place was it was picky about its guests. The monsters were interesting, they were not chaos beasts that much she could tell but she did not know what they were. They seemed to be trying to get through the crowd with a feral frenzy towards what appeared to be a larger rift like what she had come through but she didn't know where that one led.
One of the creatures suddenly lunged at the captain. She barely had time to summon her spear and block it's gnashing teeth and slashing claws. She shoved the monster back and slashed at it. The monster continued to come after her as she tried to put some distance between herself and the beast, slashing and stabbing as she retreated back towards the strange rift.
Yomi was currently resting on a park bench from his nightly patrol. He appreciate the breezy summer night air, luckily it had been a quiet night he hadn't run into an officer or youma all night. He thought about the stars, he thought about his wonder that was located amoung them. He knew at some point he needed to visit it, however he couldn't shake a doubt that he didn't desrve to see it that his years as an officer made him unworthy. He let out a sigh, that was a thought for another night. With that he decided to get back to his patrol as he stood up a rift opened up beneath him as he fell through portal into a dark place.
Once he got back to his feet in this new place he looked around, he seemed to have appeared in the middle of a battle of some sort. People from every faction of the war was here and they were fighting some strange monsters. The monsters savage looking were attacking anything and anyone infront of them including civilians. That set a pit in his stomach, he had no idea what was happening here but innocent people were caught in the middle of it. He had to help he decided summoning his katana to his hand.
He ran at a group of the monsters and called on his magic as the area filled with a miasma. The creatures that inhaled the miasma began to thrash and roar in pain. He knew what they were experiencing, the illusion of flesh and muscle decaying off a living body, a pain that was never meant for the living. He felt good at having held up at least a few of the monsters but then an electrical surge hit him. He dropped to his knees as pain racked his body and his channeling stopped. The monsters began recovering as he struggled back to his feet. "What was that? What is this place?"
Squire Magic
He holds up his katana and a miasma seems to seep out from it covering the area, anyone who inhales the miasma feels and imagines their body decaying right before their eyes. Channeling Time: 30 secs. AOE: 8 ft
Anniliese was still trying to find a way to not only avoid the creatures but to also find a way out of where she was. Even though there were other people, Anniliese was only focused on herself at the moment. She was not good for others if she can't first try and help herself. She figured once she got a sense of what was happening or what to do next she could try to maybe possibly help others. She didn't recognize anyone that she could possibly know. She took a big breath. She would worry about that later. She couldn't be too focused on other things. She had to make sure she never take her eyes or her mind away from the creatures. The creature seemed to know what is going on at least to her it seems like that. She would have to probably have to watch them very carefully to see where they go next and what they do. They may be the answer to getting out of her predicament. Anniliese watch them as they seem to run and stop, run and stop. Anniliese was not sure if following them was the right thing to do but it was better than not doing anything.
Zenobia just didn't know what to do. She was really scared of the creatures and didn't want to be anywhere near them. But that was not the only thing on her mind. She afraid of her parents coming home and she was not there. They would freak out and worry and call the police. Pluse she forgot to take the meat out of the fridge like her mother
Tachibana was doing her best to get to Ida as she waded through the crowded melee. As a monster leaped at her she called on her magic "Tachibana Thousand Petal Vortex!" sending a torrent of countless golden petals at the monster. The stream of petals distracted the monster long enough for her to get away from it. Tachibana nodded her head as she looked in the direction Ida was indicating. As long as they were heading somewhere away from the monsters Tachibana didn't care where it was.
The preteen senshi noticed the monsters ducking down and just barely managed to follow suit as electricity arced across the space. Tachibana saw Ida on her knees, she must have gotten hit by whatever that electricity was. The young girl ran over to the older senshi giving her a hand to help her up.
"We've got to go!" She said to the older woman. She sent a second blast of her magic in the direction of the monsters just to be safe.
Tachibana Thousand Petal Vortex
Tachibana holds her hand out and calls out the name of her attack as a vortex of golden petals fly towards her opponent. They don't do any damage but they can obscure her opponents vision and distract them. Uses: 3 Duration: 15 seconds Reach: 5 feet
Amaterasu wasn't sure staying around those monsters was the best idea but she trusted her older sister and she knew she'd be safe if she was with her. "Ok I'll heal you if you get hurt!" She promised. She watched as her sisters blue flames caught the monsters. Her sister was strong however the monsters were relentless. She hide behind her sister, unfortunately while she loved her magic it was not useful in a fight.
She looked in the direction the monsters were heading in and her eyes widened at the sight, it was another rift they were trying to go through it, the little senshi reasoned. Izanmi tugged on her sister's skirt when there was a moment to breath from the fight, "Nee-chan I think they're trying to go there!" She pointed to the rift.
She had no clue what was through that rift, but she guess it must be important if the monsters were so determined to get through it. "We should go ther...." Amaterasu was cut off mid sentence when an arc of electricity sliced through her sending pain shooting through her small body. She let out a cry as she dropped to the ground from the pain. She really didn't want to stay here any longer.
It wasn't just a rift. It was a rift full of monsters. There was a crowd of people, too, people of all factions, powered up and powered down, but Cybele could not pick out Siegfried from among them, or, at a glance, any of her family or any of her acquaintances.
Maybe they were there, but mostly she saw the monsters.
There were monsters and she couldn't run.
She could, but her toes being gone and her soles being tender meant it was more of an awkward trot away from danger.
Even if Siegfried was here, she wasn't sure that she was in much of a state to protect him.
Koeia was still trying to get used to this new world, it was all too much for the ancient city. She could barely understand how such a world still stood and how it was soo full of life. The city she was currently staying in seemed to be in the middle of some sort of festival. She was watching the humans from a distance on a roof top. She wanted to learn more about these people, plus it was just incredible to see other people just living normal lives. After a while of observing the human revelry the senshi of miracles decided to take off before she was spotted as she was leaving the roof a rift opened up in front of her.
The ancient woman observed the rift, it was clearly a tear in space but she knew not where it led. She decided it would be worthwhile to investigate it. She stepped through into a dark realm where a battle seemed to be raging. It was always a terrible sight to such violence occurring however at least she understood this. Fighting unknown monsters in the dark, this was familiar territory.
It appeared that some group of monsters was attacking a diverse group, some senshi and knights, some normal humans, an alien race that she did not at the moment recognize, and forces that felt vaugely like the evils that had attacked her world. She assumed that was the enemies she had been told about, Chaos, the Negaverse and the Dark Mirror. She need to know more about these evil groups but right now they did not seem to be the agressor of the situation. No the monsters were unknown, they seemed to share no loyalty with any of those gathered infact they didn't seem to have the capacity for loyalty based on the ferocity and single mindedness with which they were attacking the crowd. She needed to help, she wasn't sure what was happening but it was clear innocent lives were in danger so she needed to do her part in this fight.
She called on her magic "Koeia Spirited Shield" As a star appeared behind her head. She thanked the stars her magic worked tonight. As she charged the monsters smashing into one. It tried to claw and bite at her but each attack just reflected back onto the monster doing no damage to herself as she smash the creature with repeated kicks and punches.
Koeia Spirited Shield
Koeia calls out her attack name as she claps her hands together. She is blessed with a protective miracle as a star appears behind her head. All damage done to her is reflected back onto whoever hurt her, so she can't hurt herself to do damage to someone else but anything they do to her is directly done to them instead. She can only perfectly reflect all first stage attacks, she splits the damage of a second stage attack (she takes half, they take half), take 75% of a third stage attack while they take 25%,and she cannot block a fourth stage attack at all. This damage vanishes when the attack ends unless the other player wants it to persist. Duration: 25 seconds Radius of effect: 5 feet Uses: 3

This strange realm was so still before. It was smothering, like the stagnation of the world had spread to you.
But then, the wind.
It started small at first, just a little movement. Within a few seconds, it grew a bit stronger.
And then again, stronger.
Powerful gusts of wind are suddenly ripping through the platform, strong enough to knock people over, or push them into each other. If you’re standing in the wrong place, maybe even strong enough to knock the breath out of you.
The creatures seem to be every bit as affected by these sudden winds as the people around them, but it’s not enough to slow them down.
Lightning flashes above you–into the great tear forming just before you. Like a knife through butter, the air is cleaved in two. It almost sounds like fabric ripping, and light suddenly bursts across the platform.
Not enough to illuminate the great distances–but enough to illuminate the massive, gargoyle-like creature inside the tear.
It’s easily two stories tall, even while hunched over. It’s a sickly grey color and looks similar to the creatures you’ve been fighting with. Its wings are tattered and thin, and its gray skin is stretched tightly across its bones. You can easily make out the knots on its back, and the creature has long legs and long arms and long fingers and long claws.
Its large, bat-like ears twitch as the pathway into its realm is torn open, and it turns to look at the group with wide, pale eyes. Briefly, the monster’s mouth falls open and you can see two rows of sharp, needle like teeth.
You can see a glowing white crystal, warped and mutated, with a dozen cracks leaking black slime, embedded in its chest.
Without a doubt, you know that’s the source of the unnatural energy. The lightning arcs again at it and the monster swipes it away, sending electric sparks showering down on those closest to the ruptured air.
It turns back briefly to slash through the air, and you watch as each of the five talons on its right hand tears a human sized hole out of nothing. You can just barely make out enough details to tell that some of these portals lead to familiar places in Destiny City. Places you know.
It balls its hand up and seems to brush the portals aside before repeating the gesture, tearing open new portals.
It leans in close, like it’s desperately looking for something.
All the while, portals are still opening up and closing around you, dropping people in and sucking people out. There’s no consistency to it, it’s completely unpredictable.
Sometimes, the great beast glances back, as if to try and make sure no one’s getting too close–but you can’t help it. If it’s not the monsters jostling you as they try to climb into this creature’s little pocket space, it’s the wind shoving you towards it anyway.
The giant of a beast seems to know that its time is running out and it peers over its shoulder again and screeches. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard, like needles in your ears. It resumes its frantic searching but its getting sloppier, and some of the tears aren’t closing before it opens more.
You don’t know where you are, but there’s a distinct sinking feeling, like elastic losing its stretch.
Like you, and everyone with you, on the verge of falling.
…There’s nothing to catch you if you if you do.
Whatever this creature is searching for can’t be worth as much as your life–and if you don’t want it slashing all the support this pocket dimension has, you should probably stop it.
Besides–something that big? With talons that sharp?
There’s no way it’s going to end well for you, anyway. Best to strike first while you have the chance–before this creature finds what it’s looking for.
Quote:
A great tear in the sky has revealed a giant monster with a disgustingly powerful crystal in its chest. You can tell that there’s something wrong with it. It’s not order, it’s not chaos, it’s just sick. This creature seems to be responsible for all of the dimensional tears, but more than that it feels like it’s also tearing apart the stability of this world in its search. You might not want to attack it, but if you want to get out you’re going to need to make it through one of those portals leading out to Destiny City.
Right now, there’s no way to get past it without charging the creature.
The monsters seem more interested in reaching the giant–in reaching the crystal–but they are still lashing out if you’re in their ay.
If you join them and attack the great beast now, you might have the advantage.
You might get out of here alive.
Quote:
If a player wants to interact with one of the attacking creatures, they can puppet it doing so! The creatures cannot speak but might growl or roar; they will attack with their talons and sharp teeth. They can fly short distances but it seems difficult for them to get too much air. They do not seem to get along and may attack each other as well as characters; they have no energy signature and will target civilians and powered characters the same. They do not seem magical, though if they are attacked with great ferocity they will explode into a sticky black tar, not unlike what seems to be covering the surfaces in this strange pocket dimension. Their attention has shifted to attacking the giant monster, specifically to try and reach the crystal embedded in its chest, but they will still attack anyone in their way.
Players can choose to be affected by the gusts in any way they like, but all characters should be pushed towards the great beast. Characters may feel suffocated or may feel violently shoved if players like. Characters can also be slightly burned or have a temporary loss of vision if they are near to the sparks; they may also have a sharp ringing sound in their ears from the creature’s scream. This is completely up to the player if they want to have any damage or be affected from these actions!!
This ORP is open to characters from all factions, including civilians! It will count as a regular roleplay for a civilian character but provided a powered character participates in any combat this can be used as a battle requirement. Civilians will be at a disadvantage narratively, but there is room for everyone to participate! You can play as many characters as you like, but players are discouraged from participating with more characters than they can reasonably play during the event. We strongly encourage players to fill out prompts as they go and make a genuine effort to backfill as soon as possible if they are not able to fill out their post immediately. You should not have more than one unfilled post at a time; you may reserve a post if you have the intention of responding quickly but please do not reserve a new post before filling out the last. There is no need to reserve posts between prompts; there will not be any dice rolls or repercussions from missing prompts. You can post as often as you like between mule posts.
Players must put their character’s name and a link to their journal at the top of their posts.
This ORP ICly takes place on Saturday, July 3rd so it is forward dated to the last day of the event. ICly it will last for about an hour. Characters who have been sucked through the strange rifts will be able to participate in an upcoming prompt but cannot join just yet.
Prompts will regularly be posted ~every 72 hours. The time between final prompt and closing prompt will be ~48 hours and will be announced at the time; the ORP will close on Sunday, July 3rd. You can join the ORP at any time, up until the final prompt when new participants will no longer be permitted.
There will be no dice rolling in this ORP; there are no rewards for being the highest roller or more active and this event was designed to be a little relaxed. Players will be able to both enter at any point in time and will be able to remove their characters from the central part of the ORP if they need to without suffering any IC repercussions. There are no repercussions if a player misses a prompt. Any player who participates with any character (or characters) and writes at least 500 words will be eligible for rewards at the end of this roleplay; playing multiple characters will not yield multiple rewards so you only need one to participate. At any point in time between now and a prompt that says otherwise, your character can be sucked into another fissure and disappear from the platform or a character who participated in the Disappearances prompt can come through a fissure and join the ORP. Characters can be sucked in or pushed out together or alone, it’s up to the players.
The next prompt will be posted sometime after 6 PM EST on Tuesday, June 28th!
Zultanite was too damn old for all of this bull. Groaned as a gust took him to his knees and an akimbo monster dragged him closer to the even larger being that'd formed up - he could only stare with wide blue eyes at the crystal - and then, beyond that? The portals to home.
Least it looked that way to him as they all blinked in and out in a familiar array of places he thought he knew. <********, might'swell try!
Zultanite got his bearings, pulled himself up outta the tar, and shoved a cinnamon stick into the nearest crawling things maw; then he got his a** ********, moving; towards the monster and not away becasue beyond it seemed all the chances for safety and home!
He wasn't staying n dying for nobody - skyrending monster or otherwise.
Cryolite had no time to answer in the aftermath; even with the sudden realization of which boy, and 'who's boy exactly' Faustite was speaking about. Because suddenly? A hail of monsters and a soaking of tar that seemed to bleed forth with them as the entire universe above, and behind tore itself asunder.
It was madness.
Cryolite watched Faustite billow off, a swath of fire and ruin in the wake of *that* much uncorked rage. Good, he thought, let the man blow off steam and take as many of the non-youma beasties as he could along with him. Faustite would be fine.
But Albite?
Albite was missing, of all the pig-headed, fat assed, of course he was missing amongst all this lot. It explained so damn much - at least as to the lack of mid morning texts chocked full of senseless gifs and star spangled emojis. Explained nothing at all about the 'how'. Which began to matter less and less and less as the screams of the crowds beyond rose up beyond - and once monster off to his left burst into dying with enough force to splatter his entire side -- ********, nasty little beasties.
Easier to lose it all if he covered himself in ice they woudln't want to touch - cast 'Sublime Shroud!' Breathlessly, before the an echoing scream dropped him to his knees in a shower of frost.
First one barrage, then the other, and now?
He didn't want to leave without the others....
Couldn't find them if he was dead at the bottom of a stampede. So Cryolite moved with the unrelenting gust of air towards the beast, however hesitantly.
Thrown in, tumbled about, and it hadn't been long before Tenoch had found himself turning aimlessly and firing tiny bursting blasts of light on every being that approached haphazardly. Anything that looked other than 'of Earth', and it's strange familiarity? Fair game in Tenochs opinion. He wanted for Nessa, for the forms and shapes of people he knew now must have gone missing into the same shared dark-ichor space --
And then the sky finished tearing open above him, and suddenly what the creatures wanted to get at - through them - mattered so much less than the sky demon. It's sickly screaming, had him grimace, uncaring for the sparks of earth that appeared or the burning bits that radiated off and nearly caught him up once, singed his form twice -
Where the hell were his fellow cadets, if not here, trapped in this space? Where was Nessa and Vyn and -- Tenoch didn't want to consider the worst of any possible outcomes, and trudged on through the growing stickiness at his feet.
The young senshi was attcked, injured, and then pleaded for help in the most heart-wrenching way possible. Acubens acted as quickly as she could, hiking her up onto her back and instructing her to hold on. She called out the name of her basic level attack again, her magic sending her careening through the crowd with her passenger on her back. Acubens had been getting better at this as the years had gone by. She was no longer running into things, turning was easier, and her stopping was cleaner.
But the earth tilted and Acubens felt like she was trying to tame her own magic all over again. She veered and swayed all of the sudden, nearly hitting another senshi as she did so.
"I'm so so-... Lacerta?"
Acubens' blood ran cold but she didn't have time to evaluate what she was really feeling. She grabbed Lacerta's arm and called on her magic and third and final time, whisking all three away to the safety of the rest of the team, nearly colliding with Kiuchi in the process.
Tegmine steadied her and she leaned heavily on him for a moment, exhausted from her magic and the weight on her back. When she finally nodded, her brother let her go, and she turned her attention to what the lightening had suddenly lit up
It was unlike anything she'd ever seen before, so otherworldly and horrifying that it caused her to freeze up for a moment. It screamed at them and she took a step back, tightening her grip on the senshi on her back as though that might protect her if the creature decided to attack. The sound shook her down to her marrow and pierced through her like one of the shocks of lightening. Her brain rattled around in and her skull her ears rang even after the sound died away.
Whatever that thing was, it had to be dispatched.
"Kill it," she said simply, "I'll hang back and shield the wounded senshi."
She was about to give more instructions when Rana interrupted her.
"No," the child cried out, coming around from behind her. When had she comd down from Tegmine's back? Acubens, shocked, didn't stop Rana as she argued.
"It's not a threat! Not really! Whatever that is, it's not attacking us! It's... I think it's hurt, look at the crystal!" Acubens did so and winced. The crystal embedded in it's chest didn't just look corrupted. It looked... infected. She couldn't feel chaos but... whatever it was, it wasn't good.
"Rana, Honey," Acubens began, irritation clear in her voice, but Rana cut her off again.
"Has that creature attacked us?"
Acubens was silent. It hadn't. Rana pressed on.
"It's looking for something. It has no interest in us."
"It can't have good intentions for whatever it's looking for, Rana," Acubens argued coldly. Now it was Rana's turn for stunned silence.
"No, it hasn't attacked us. And yes, it does seem sick. But whatever it's looking for it can't have anything good in store for."
"How do you know?"
Acubens ground her teeth together and searched for an argument. Finding none, she growled deep in her throat and hissed, "Fine." She ignored Rana's triumphant grin. "But the second it lashes out at us, all bets are off. New plan. We need to get passed this thing. We should be able to do it without being noticed. It seems preoccupied. Let's all get home together."
She turned to Kiuchi to tell him to lead, but all but panicked when she saw the pain on his face.
"He's fine," Tegmine reassured. "But I'll take the lead."
Acubens hesitated but finally nodded, adding, "I'm going to bring up the rear with this senshi and Kiuchi. I'll keep them both safe. you keep tabs on Rana." She hiked Protogenia farther up on her back for emphasis.
"I want to stay with Kiuchi!"
"Rana, Honey!" Acubens voice pierced the wind with the force of her fear. "You can't argue with me on this one, okay? I need you to follow my directions now. Go with Tegmine and Morpheus. I'll handle Kiuchi and this one."
Rana glanced between Kiuchi and Acubens but finally relented, scrambling back up onto Tegmine's back.
Velociraptor Agility Type Offensive Duration and Timing The charge lasts five seconds. She can use this attack once every three minutes, and can only attack twice, with just enough energy left over for a Velociraptor Dash after a five minute charging period. Uses A power up of her first attack, Acubens now is able to get up to cheetah speed. Besides that, however, he is also a great deal more agile. She can now turn, for instance, and while it may not be on a dime, at least she can change direction. She can also stop sooner and without having to run into things. Drawbacks Because the turns are still pretty sloppy, it's still pretty easy to dodge Micah's attack. It's still also pretty hard to stop, so Acubens might actually end up running into something while she is trying to do so.
"We trust you," Tegmine reassured as Kiuchi expressed his lack of assurance in Acubens' direction. "If you think we should press forward, then that's what we'll do." He was about to do just that when a bolt of energy fizzed past him, sending all of his body hair standing straight up and down. A second later Kiuchi cried out, followed by Rana answering with her own shrill cry as she scrambled down off his back at to her brother. Tegmine followed grabbed Kiuchi, trying to ground him with touch.
"Yeah, we're okay," he answered, screaming to be heard above the wind. "You good to walk on your own or do you need support?"
A moment later Acubens came screaming back into view. He'd never seen her speed magic so out of control. Between the wind and the sudden sinking feeling around them, it was to be expected. She stopped just short of collision, and Tegmine reached out automatically to steady her. He grinned slightly at the senshi on her back and nodded at Lacerta as he recognized that Acubens had not arrived alone. Acubens clung to his arms until she could stand on her own.
And not a moment too late either.
As soon as Acubens got her legs back, lightening illuminated a creature so hideous it made Tegmine cry out. When ti screamed, his whole body vibrated and his mind went blank. It almost felt like his eyes rolled back in his skull for a moment.
When Acubens commanded, "kill it," Tegmine called his magic and said a silent prayer that it worked.
Rana screaming again stopped him. She ran between Acubens and the creature, as though to protect it. Tegmine glanced between Rana and the creature as she spoke.
"It's not a threat! Not really! Whatever that is, it's not attacking us! It's... I think it's hurt, look at the crystal!"
Tegmine did. And she was right. It looked like the crystal had been damaged and in the time since then had become infected. But with what? Tegmine wasn't sure he wanted to be here to find out, to be honest.
As the two senshi argued, Tegmine watched as the creatures from before began attacking, wondering if they knew something that they didn't. They didn't seem capable of higher order thinking... were they just frightened animals too?
Acubens huffed and finally said, "Fine." Rana looked so proud. "But the second it lashes out at us, all bets are off. New plan. We need to get passed this thing. We should be able to do it without being noticed. It seems preoccupied." She turned to Kiuchi and froze. Tegmine had to act fast before she lost her nerve.
"He's fine," Tegmine reassured quickly. Acubens turned wide, panicked eyes on him and he pressed on. "But I'll take the lead."
He could see Acubens debating in her mind, but he knew she could not lead with the injured senshi on her back, nor could she ask Kiuchi to lead while injured.
Finally she nodded and said, "I'm going to bring up the rear with this senshi and Kiuchi. I'll keep them both safe. You keep tabs on Rana."
Tegmine reached for the girl, but she twisted away, crying "I want to stay with Kiuchi!"
"Rana, Honey!" Tegmine could almost taste the fear in her voice. "You can't argue with me on this one, okay? I need you to follow my directions now. Go with Tegmine and Morpheus. I'll handle Kiuchi and this one."
Rana hesitated but eventually did as she was told, returning to Tegmine's back as he took the lead.
Rana didn't see anything until her brother cried out. After that her mind went blank and she moved almost as though possessed. She leapt off of Tegmine's back and ran for her brother. If she weren't so panicked, she'd surely be in tears. Tegmine joined her a moment later and she nodded at his reassurance.
Acubens arrived suddenly and with another senshi on her own back and Miss Lacerta in tow. Rana had never seen her magic before, and later she would marvel at the speed but right now all she knew was that her brother was hurt and... and...
And something was up ahead of them.
It screamed and Rana clapped her hands over her ears. Still, the sound pierced her mind like a needle and left her ears ringing afterwards. But the sound... it sounded... afraid. Rana squinted and her heart broke. The crystal in it's chest seemed... broken? And then like it had gotten sick somehow. This wasn't a cruel creature trying to cause harm... this was a frightened animal. She tried to form real thoughts, but all she could hear was Acubens uttering a simple command.
"Kill it."
"No!" Again, Rana was moving on autopilot, running between Acubens and the creature as though that would stop her. Acubens paused in shock and Rana took full advantage of that.
"It's not a threat! Not really! Whatever that is, it's not attacking us! It's... I think it's hurt, look at the crystal!" Acubens glanced at the crystal and Rana knew she had the older senshi in a corner.
"Rana, Honey," Rana could tell Acubens was losing her temper, but she pressed on.
"Has that creature attacked us?"
Acubens was silent and Rana continued.
"It's looking for something. It has no interest in us."
"It can't have good intentions for whatever it's looking for, Rana." The chill in Acubens voice and the fact that she had a point shut Rana up.
"No, it hasn't attacked us," Acubens continued, "and yes, it does seem sick. But whatever it's looking for it can't have anything good in store for."
"How do you know?"
It was a childish argument, but Rana knew she'd won. Finally, Acubens hissed, "Fine." Rana couldn't help but grin at her win. "But the second it lashes out at us, all bets are off. New plan. We need to get passed this thing. We should be able to do it without being noticed. It seems preoccupied. Let's all get home together."
And then Acubens saw Kiuchi. Rana's panic spiked again as she looked at her brother. She was going to run to him again with Acubens said, "I'm going to bring up the rear with this senshi and Kiuchi. I'll keep them both safe. You keep tabs on Rana."
To be separated from her brother now would be a fate worse than death.
"I want to stay with Kiuchi," she argued.
"Rana, Honey!" Rana knew from the sound of her voice that she would lose. "You can't argue with me on this one, okay? I need you to follow my directions now. Go with Tegmine and Morpheus. I'll handle Kiuchi and this one."
Acubens was right. She needed to go with Tegmine. And so she returned to his back and buried her head in his shoulder.
Lourdes finally released the knight and the kid to cover her ears as the terrible thing before them screamed. Her whole head rung with the sound of it and she summoned her weapon at long last. She couldn't tell from the energy signal if it was enemy or ally, but she cast her magic on it in hopes that it would at least slow it down.
"If these monsters are attacking that thing," Lourdes called to the other knight over the wind, "then there must be a reason, right? Maybe we should take a crack too?"
When Lourdes points the scepter at her target, a river of cool clear water flows from the glass ball. Anyone who is Order aligned that touches this water will feel an overwhelming sense of feeling loved. They will feel calmed, soothed spiritually, and even become encouraged and find a second wind at players' discretion. Anyone who is Chaos aligned that touches this water, however, feels a distinct lack of feeling loved. They will feel discouraged, abandoned, and want to give up. The pool for this magic lasts for 40 seconds, and she can turn it on and off at will. The stream of water can extend up to three feet from the glass ball. It is possible to only touch the water with your hands and reap some benefits / drawbacks, however, the more of your body that is touched by the water, the more prominent the benefits / drawbacks are.

Morpheus nodded and then said "My magic may not work on them at all since it's an illusion, it affected the creature in the last battle and seemed to confuse it, but since they don't speak I'm never sure what they see if anything." He nodded in agreement that they needed to move they had to get out of here as quickly as possible.
He was confused about what was going on with the group at large so he moved along with everyone else and ignored the emotional stuff. People were afraid but it seemed that Acubens had things under control. He had offered to help and he looked around it had seemed the creatures had been attacking but she said they weren't. He then noticed she was in fact right a rift appeared in the air and the monsters were going that way. He nodded "I think you are right we need to follow."
Morpheus' Smoke Range: 6~-8', dependent on wind conditions Duration: 40 seconds Use Count: Useable 3x without energy replenishment. Miss Chance: Morpheus' attack can miss based on wind blowing the smoke in the wrong direction, a character jumping out of the way, or shutting their eyes / shielding the face. Effect: Morpheus can either wipe his forehead or touch the dust-laden ribbon of his uniform to summon a handful of soot. He then blows it toward the target (hence the variability on range), and if it is ingested by the target, the attack will take hold. It does not sting the eyes as one would expect of smoke. From then on, the afflicted character will interpret the world with blended elements of stream of consciousness / dreaming. These elements are entirely up to the player - for example, they may see someone's face taper into a trombone, or watch a battle taking place upon a lake that's dripping upward onto the clouds, or that Destiny City has become a sphere encasing the entire battle, and looking upward reveals the rooftops of buildings on the other side. Any blended elements are free reign here - sights, sounds, tastes, feelings, and smells are all viably manipulable components in Morpheus' attack.
This attack can affect people on a whole - characters may see people as something entirely different, like whales floating on balloons, or household furniture, or even as other significant figures in their lives.
