The rabbit sniffled, clearly trying to get herself under control. She took a hop towards Rowan, away from the tree. "My kits are missing! Please! I don't know where they are!" Her fur was plastered to her skin, and she looked utterly frantic. Another flash lit the sky.
Her frantic eyes turned to the agouti buck, and she hopped towards him. "Yes! Can you help me?!? Please?!?" She took a deep breath. A boom punctuated her plea. "There were three of them. Please, I have to find them!"

Koi's eyes narrowed as he searched for a bun in need. There was one hopping around...with a limp? That couldn't be good? He went over and approached the bun quickly, tilting his head. "Hey, I know of a shelter--"
"I don't need to go to a shelter." Justice snapped out, clearly agitated. Didn't this bun know what he was doing? "I'm looking for any small buns. Do you know of any that have been found? Ones without a mother?" Koi shook his head no. "Well. Some are missing." The doe let out an aggravated sound.
Koi blinked. Really he didn't know what to say. Someone so stubborn and gruff---he had met many other buns in his life. But it was still a shock to see someone so gruff. So snappy. He did what he always did in a tense situation--he caved in. It was time to make her happy. "I'll help out!" he hopped a bit to the side. "You take this side, I'll take the other?!" "Kits? Aw man, that can't be good especially in this storm..." Rowan uttered. He could only imagine how she must feel, how her babies must feel having to go through this nasty storm without her. "Okay, uh, don't worry I'll help you find them!" he vowed, willing to forego his own safety and comfort to assist her. "So, what can you tell me? When was the last time you saw them? How many? What do they look like?" Who's that? This post: 78 Total: 961

Pushing aside the roots he crouched down and made out what he thought to be footprints, he could defiantly make out what were most likely the mother's footprints, and one, two, no three sets of small footprints the babies! This must have been where they were when the tree fell. He saw as the tiny prints scattered outward away from the tree. They were pretty faint with all the ash and soot that was falling off the roots as the tree burned.
He carefully made his way back out of the tree roots carefully watching where he was stepping. He hopped back up to the mother briefly updating her on what he found. "So I found some footprints leading out of the roots, im going to explore the area away from the tree a bit. The GOOD news it doesn't seem like they were under it when it fell. Don't worry momma were on it right?" He looked at the bunnies surrounding her that could hear what he had said.
With that, he hopped off in the direction he believed one of the footprints had headed. He scanned the ground for any sign he was on the right track.

He had hoped that he would be able to pick right back up on the trail but the flames and smoke made things a little bit confusing. Luckily he had told at least a couple buns what he had seen, and so they could start helping with the search. He searched the grass directly out from the base of the roots trying his best to put himself in the kits place. Okay, so your alone, your scared and its raining. That's when he realised only a few minutes ago that was where HE was himself.
He needed someone to come up to him and reassure him that he was okay, but he wasn't hiding anywhere, so maybe that didn't really help. Kits were so small they could be anywhere and he hadn't even thought of asking their names. He was in too much of a rush. That probably would have been helpful information to know." Oh babies? little kits?" He called out but the storm was loud and it raged on.

Floodwater hopped about under and around the tree, occasionally stopping to watch other rabbits stick their heads into openings of the tree with seemingly little worry. While she certainly wasn't the most skittish rabbit, she didn't think she was quite ready for that. She was currently watching Mud with quite a bit of anxiety - was he mad, clambering into the roots like that? The fire! The smoke...!
She released the breath she hadn't realized she had been holding when he emerged not long after. He didn't look devastated when he began heading towards the mother - a good sign, in her book. She bounded along after him, only catching up in time to catch the tail end of their conversation.
"Excuse me! Russet rabbit!" She called out, squinting through the rain, "Did you say the kits weren't beneath the tree?"

She let out another wail. "I'm afraid they've been crushed under the tree. We were all right there! It seemed like a good place when the storm blew up!" Her whole body shook.
Her eyes darted to the newly returned Mud. "Y-you're sure? They aren't under there? Oh ... oh ..." She almost seemed to collapse with sheer relief. "B-but, then where have they gone?"

Rowan was also quite relieved to see the brown rabbit come back. Honestly, he wasn't sure what he would have told the frantic mother otherwise. Her kits very well could have been crushed by the fallen tree. The thought was rather morbid so he shook his head in an attempt to chase it away. "Well, at least you know they're not squished," he offered weakly, doing his best to be optimistic. "Er, do the kits have names? I want to help if I can." Who's that? This post: 84 Total: 1045

She seemed to have dissolved into sobs, unable to answer any questions.

If your rabbit has spoken to her you may try to find clues about what happened to her kits, either by looking for clues or speaking to her. If you are looking for clues roll 1d20. If you roll a 1, 10 or 20 please post in the Event Hub channel on Discord. You should roll each post you're exploring. If you're looking for clues close to the tree roll 2d20s. If you roll a 1, 2, 19 or 20 please post in the Event Hub channel on Discord. You should roll each post you're exploring.

Alright well, so much for that idea. Rowan really hoped the doe wasn't crying because of what he said. He wasn't exactly known for his tact in dealing with situations like this. He offered her a quick reassurance that he was going to go look for the kits and hopped off in the direction he had seen the brown rabbit from before go. He had mentioned finding footprints so it made the most sense to him to follow them. He didn't have much in the way of information so he'd just have to look around and hope for the best. Rowan called out to the kits as he searched. He didn't think it would do much good, his voice more than likely getting swept away by the pounding of the heavy rain, but he had to hope. Justice's eye was caught by something. A teeny, tiny kit sized tunnel running off into the tall grass. It was as if a kit had made their very own tunnel out into the sea of grass that was the Dales ...

Justice has found this tunnel, and may follow it attempting to find the lost kits. Justice knows where this tunnel is and can share this information with others. Justice can find this tunnel again at will.

Mud pushed aside some grass checking. Hmm, nothing there. He seems to have lost track of the prints. That's when he noticed the grey doe that had come up to speak to him. "Yeah, I found footprints in the roots that were teeny tiny and were running out away from the tree. So I'm going to search over here. Do you want to spread out we could cover more ground?" He motioned to another area of grass around the tree.
He then continued his searching, but the farther he got from the tree the colder it got, he hadn't realized the amount of heat that had been coming off of it. But now that he was farther away he was soaked and the booming continued and it hit him how scared these kits must be.

There was nothing there. He huffed racking his brain trying to think where kits would run to in this storm, but he really didn't have a clue. Why would they run away from thier mother? Why wouldn't they trust her to make sure they were safe it just didn't make sense to him. Where could they have gone!
