Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight ※Erik Lafayette※ Erik was a bit surprised to hear he'd been the first person to say he enjoyed Joseph's company. Sure the man tended to play it close to the chest but he was fairly intelligent. The question about how his former company was ran made him laugh a bit. It wasn't. He took a large sip of his wine before answering. "It was a madhouse before I got there," he stated ",they didn't bother writing down important dates which resulted in all the higher ups being late or flat out missing important meetings, the employees were lazy, my boss would scream at people over his own mistakes and if it hadn't been for me no one in that place would have been paid ever. That man is a idiot who isn't fit to be in charge. He inherited the company after his father died and then put his closest friends on the board of directors. It was like working in a frat house. One of them actually put a potential buyer on hold and just waited until they hung up because they didn't speak fluent English. When I arrived I was able to at least make a working schedule for everyone there, keep track of the dates, make sure all the paperwork was finished and sent, I took care of the payroll and managed to catch most of the employees up on their late checks, I took over all the calls. There isn't much positive to say except that the kid they have in charge of their media division is a ******** genius. He's good at his job and dedicated. I don't see that place surviving another year. He's up to his eyeballs in debt. He had to borrow against the company just to make payroll." You don't waste no time at all Don't hear the bell but you answer the call It comes to you as to us all Yeah, we're just waiting for the hammer to fall, yeah

Joseph made sure to make intricate mental notes of everything that the younger man spoke about. A madhouse where dates and important meetings were either late or flat out missed, something that Joseph himself had been victim too in their few meetings that were made. He remembered that it had completely threw off his schedule that forced Helen to call each and every appointment he mad prior and forced them to move up just to accommodate this assholes. However it only seemed to get better and better as there was more dirt on the man came to light and Joseph could say that he was disgusted. Those kind of employers were dirt bags in his professional and blunt opinion, to create a hostile work environment and then blaming the employees? It just seemed to get worse by the second. But just when he thought that was it then Erik then brought to light the fact that he had inherited the company, put his friends on the board of directors, and seemed to run it into the ground "How does it even stay afloat..." he muttered to himself as Erik still had more to talk about. But the worst was yet to come, they had been skipping their employee's paychecks!? That violated several laws right there! But then when Erik wrapped up his story about his previous nightmare job Joseph was almost thankful the younger man got fired, nobody deserved to work in such an awful environment such as that. Let alone be the anchor to try and keep it grounded. However the mention of their media division caught Joseph's attention as he nodded his head a little bit "I see..." finally after a moment of silence Joseph's stone cold gaze locked directly with Erik's "Erik. I want you to be honest with me, is there anything else your former boss did?" quite frankly Joseph wanted to get that company closed as quickly as possible. Partially for the sake of those employee's but also the fact that Erik complimented their media guy. The secretary had proven himself to have a good head on his shoulders and Joseph felt like he could trust his word and Joseph would have no problem picking up a diamond out from a pile of garbage. Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight ※Erik Lafayette※ Me, in his office, on the clock...don't say that. How much have I had to drink? Erik knew what Joseph was looking for and he had just the piece of information. It would damn the company but also make it to where he could be seen as a nark. He polished off the rest of his wine in one large gulp and gripped the table as the world went sideways for a moment. "Every year he holds a huge charity fundraiser," he said as he stared at the tablecloth ",hundreds of people donate massive amount of money because they think it's all going to help the local youth shelter. The shelter has never seen a dime, he keeps all the money. Last year he went to Bora Bora with it." He left out where his boss had begged him to go and he'd refused. He'd felt so guilty about the whole ordeal but he'd been so scared to call the authorities at the time as his ex had assured him if Erik ever ratted him out he'd never work again. Thee man had hundreds of intimate text messages and photos he'd threatened to release should Erik ever turn on him. His ex was a petty man. "He'll know I told you if you turn him in," he said after a moment ",he told me if I ever told anyone he'd put all of our personal messages and private photos online."You don't waste no time at all Don't hear the bell but you answer the call It comes to you as to us all Yeah, we're just waiting for the hammer to fall, yeah

It seemed that Erik had all the information that Joseph wanted and the CEO knew that this kind of info could easily put a stake in the heart of this company. Joseph would almost reach over to help the other man if needed as it looked like he was about to sway at any moment, however thankfully he seemed to be well enough to not need help. No more wine for Erik it seemed. Now the CEO would make sure to listen closely as the other man informed him of the shady act he'd done with charity money and Joseph blinked a bit in surprise before his eyes narrowed a bit. He'd actually remembered making a fair donation to that very charity as he had stock in the company and he trusted that it would be put to good use. So now that it came to light that all the money was embezzled for a vacation he was very clearly less than pleased by this turn of events. Well this was certainly a very enlightening dinner to say the least and he was ready to start a case against this man to get him put away. However all those plans would come to a screeching halt when Erik revealed that the scumbag CEO of that company threatened to release personal messages and photos online that made Joseph shake his head "What kind of personal things could possibly be....." he paused for a moment as realization dawned on him of what his employee meant "Never mind. I don't need to know" obviously he already had an idea but he wouldn't need more intimate details about the man before him and his personal life. A thoughtful look crossed his face, Joseph couldn't let this go. The man was a fraud and deserved jail time for what he's done as well as threatening someone with blackmail for them to keep their silence. However an idea came to mind that would take quite some time but now that it hit him it would be all the more satisfying "Don't worry Erik, I believe I know just how to handle this" a small and cool smile graced his features for a moment as he stared out the window into the bustling nightlife. A cold and calculating business man, he'd been called that several times and now more than ever he felt that it rang true "Don't you worry...about..a.thing" (Translation: )

Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight ※Erik Lafayette※ Erik couldn't help the small, slightly delirious sounding laugh that bubbled up his throat when Joseph took a moment to realize exactly what was being help over his head. He was also rather thankful that he didn't ask for further clarification. He could practically see the wheels turning in Joseph's brain when he'd told him about the fake fundraiser. He hadn't found out it was all a scam until after the fact. He'd remember how many people had donated thinking their money was going to a good cause only for it to be pocketed by a greedy slob. He looked up again when Joseph spoke and took notice of the slightly unsettling smile on his face. This guy might just be an evil mastermind. He couldn't help but believe him however when he stated he knew just how to handle the situation. "Remind me to never get on your bad side," Erik joked as he finished off his food. He wanted to ask what the other was planning out of some morbid curiosity but he doubted Joseph would answer. You remember what curiosity did to the cat right? You don't waste no time at all Don't hear the bell but you answer the call It comes to you as to us all Yeah, we're just waiting for the hammer to fall, yeah

It would take quite a bit of careful planning on Joseph's part but if these people were nothing but frat boys like Erik described them then it shouldn't be too hard to pull the wool over their eyes. Still though he shouldn't be so obvious about his plan. Joseph would glance over at Erik and his cold smile shifted into the tiniest of grins "A wise decision" he doubted that Erik could get on his bad side. The secretary was excellent at his job, intelligent, and all around pleasant to be around. Unless he suddenly pulled a complete one eighty on him he doubted there would ever be any truly serious issues with him. Seeing the other man finished the rest of his food Joseph would wave down their waitress "Bring the bill and a box for me please" he would politely request as Joseph turned back to Erik "From now on if he makes contact with you, make sure to keep all records of it. Times, dates, and if you receive texts then all the better. I'll need those eventually" he was partially doing this because he didn't like how his donation money was spent on some vacation, partially because it was the right thing to do, and partially because of the threats directed towards his employee. Erik might have just joined the team but nobody messed with a Measly Myers employee, not on his watch. Once his box arrived Joseph would pull out his debit card and wrote down a generous tip on the receipt before handing the two back to her for processing. Once that was done Joseph would box his food up before standing up and glanced over at Erik, noting his earlier behavior and would put out a hand just in case he needed the help. It seemed that Erik may have had a bit too much wine possibly. (Translation: )

Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight ※Erik Lafayette※ Erik nodded in agreement when Joseph asked him to keep track of how often the other contacted him which thankfully wouldn't be too hard. He appreciated the other man looking out for him. He watched Joseph go through the whole exchange with the waitress in silence and followed the other man to stand. He wavered a bit on his feet and caught himself on Joseph's out stretched hand. "I'm sorry," he apologized as he steadied himself ",I don't usually drink that much." It was true he barely drank sine he'd moved to the states. That just wasn't a scene he was into anymore. He was at least sober enough to be embarrassed he was falling over himself in front of his new boss. There was a hopeful part of his brain that prayed he wouldn't be ribbed for this at work, Joseph didn't seem like the type to hold Erik making a fool of himself over his head for amusement. New rule, no drinking when you are out with your boss! Joseph would shake his head at the others apology and smirked just a bit in amusement "Nonsense, it's fine to do a bit of social drinking from time to time" while Joseph didn't usually partake in such a thing as he nobody to drink with, he didn't condemn other people for it. He only took issue with it when drinking became a problem for the person and it began to affect their lives and job. It had happened many times at his company and instead of firing them outright he would offer them an ultimatum, take a company paid detox or lose their job. So far he's had a zero percent fire rate due to alcoholism since everyone was more than happy for free rehab essentially. It was just one of the perks of working for Measly Myers, everyone was treated well. At that moment the waitress arrived to hand Joseph his debit card back and he would continue to maintain his grip on the other man's hand as his other free hand grabbed the card from her. Finally Joseph would then look over at Erik and eyed him for a moment in scrutiny "Are you alright?" he'd ask before releasing the others hand. He didn't need Erik falling over and hurting himself after only his first day of work. With that he'd grab his leftover food and began to make his way to the car outside and held the door open for Erik before pulling his keys out and clicking the button to unlock the doors. Once inside Joseph glanced over at Erik as he started the car and pulled out "Did you enjoy yourself?" Joseph figured he may as well ask to make sure he wasn't completely droll company. Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight Erik managed to regain his balance around the time Joseph asked him if he was alright. He'd managed to nod his head in an affirmative. He followed Joseph back out to his car and thanked him when the other held the door open for him. He was extremely thankful that the seats in the sports car were comfortable. Erik smiled to himself a bit when Joseph asked if he'd enjoyed himself. "Yes I did," he answered ",thank you." It was true he'd rather enjoyed his evening with Joseph. It had been a long time wince he'd went out to a dinner where nothing was expected of him. He didn't have to uphold his family image or deal with his ex complaining that Erik would "pay him back for the night", he simply got to eat and enjoy a conversation over what had turned out to be a bit too much wine. "Can you please assure me this will not be the office gossip in the morning," he asked ",I'd really prefer if everyone didn't know I made a fool of myself because I drank too much." He was certain it was unlikely but he was a bit paranoid about situations such as these. He'd had to deal with it once before and didn't care to ever again. Joseph nodded his head a bit, pleased to know that Erik did in fact enjoy himself and that the CEO wasn't awful company. He knew that work and business talk was all he really had so the fact that they managed to have such good conversation was rather pleasing to know. As Joseph drove he would glance over at Erik at the first stoplight as he quirked an eyebrow at the other man before giving a single amused noise that sounded vaguely like a laugh but who could tell? "I didn't realize I struck you as the gossip type" he shook his head a bit "Don't worry, I wouldn't say anything to anyone about it" he confirmed for the other man as he reached down as "Flight of the Valkyries" began to play softly over the speakers of his car. The drive to Erik's house was uneventful as the Joseph simply drove the other man back to his house. Once he pulled into the others driveway Joseph would pull in and turned his head to the other man "Will you be needing help?" he decided to ask just in case Erik was still feeling light headed. If so he'd help the other man into his house and anything else he needed, otherwise he'd simply sit in the driveway and wait until the other man was in his house before driving off. (Translation: )

Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight Erik had actually drifted off a bit by the time Joseph spoke up again. He blinked for a moment before he fully processed he was home and Joseph had asked him a question. "I should be fine," he said as he sat up and opened his door ",thanks for the food and the wine. I'll see you in the morning sir." He grabbed his jacket and bid Joseph good night before making his way inside. He scooped up Antoinette on his entrance as he kicked the door shut behind him. He locked the door and carried his cat to bed with him. He awoke the next morning to his alarm blaring and his cat pawing at his face. He groaned and hugged his cat to him while buring his face into her fur. He turned off his alarm and laid in his be for a moment longer before pulling himself out of it and getting ready for work. He was thankfully not hungover. He showered dressed and filled his thermos full of coffee as Antoinette rubbed against his leg. He managed to make it to work blessedly on time. He poked his head into Joseph's office with a smile. "Good morning," he greeted. Once Joseph was sure that Erik was safely in his house he would drive off back to his place to start his nightly routine. He'd have to play some catch up with some not so important work but it wasn't nearly that bad as some other work so he'd manage. Once he was inside his home Joseph would place his leftovers in the fridge before bee lining it right to his bedroom where he'd head to the connected bathroom and undress for a brief shower. Once he was all cleaned up he'd dry off before climbing into bed and plugging his phone into it's charger. Finally he'd pull a book off his bedside table and turned the lamp on as he got some light reading in before finally heading to bed. Bright and early, at the crack of Dawn Joseph instinctively woke up two minutes before his alarm and got himself out of bed. He'd quickly brush his teeth, get dressed, comb and style his hair, and then spritz a bit of his favored cologne on himself before pausing and grabbing a slice of cold pizza for breakfast and speed eating it as he brewed a cup of coffee for the morning commute. The drive was rather brief since there were still very few people up at this hour and he'd drive up to and enter the building, coffee in hand. The impeccable Joseph Myers would then head up to his office to start the work day. This would go rather smoothly, play some catch up on minor things, reply to a few emails and that it for now. As he filled out some papers later on he would look up from his work when Erik poked his head in later on and nodded his head in greeting "Good morning" he nodded his head at the other man "Mr. Lafayette I'll require you to make some calls to a couple people from the list I gave you and set up a phone meeting with them" he would then give the names before going back to work. Baby steps for his new plan and first thing's first he needed to speak to others who had stock in that company. (OOC: Ffs Sorry! Life's been getting to me recently and this RP got buried, I'll try to be better about my replies! )

Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight Erik nodded his head before heading back to his desk and jumping head first into work. He did as Joseph asked with out question or complaint and was able to get meetings set up with them relatively quickly. His day seemed to be running much like his first including familial annoyance. Today it was his brother whom had texted him about an hour into his shift saying he was wasting his time at his job. Granted he had some reasoning to it, Erik had graduated top of his class with a degree in business from an Ivy league school, most with his background wouldn't likely be working as a secretary. His brother didn't seem to understand he didn't want to own his own company though, he didn't want that level of pressure or stress. He'd also let it slip that their mother was keeping tabs on him. Erik wasn't surprised, his mother had always been to nosy for her own good. When he'd first moved to the states she'd went as far as to hire a private investigator though luckily it wasn't to that point yet. He rubbed his temples as he buzzed Joseph and let him know all the appointments were made. Joseph would begin typing out the needed documents for the day as well as sending out an email to several managers of Measly Myers about some new products coming in. Finally Joseph would then begin to make a couple calls here and there and began to purchase stocks in a company. It was relatively easy enough to do and he'd nod his head to himself when Erik informed him about making the appointments and he'd press down on the button "Thank you, I also need you to go meet with the design team on the third floor to deliver several papers to the head designer" only moments later several papers would be printed out for Erik to deliver while Joseph would take the first of his appointed calls as he began to barter with the person and their stock in the company. This was unsurprisingly easy to do as the stocks that this person owned were rather unwanted by all means "Thank you, just have all papers forwarded to me and I'll happily take those off your hands" even how much he was buying it for was dirt cheap by all means. When questioned on why he'd want stocks in such a company Joseph would only state that he has his reasons before ending the call. Most of the calls went pretty much the same as the day dragged on with him buying out each of their stocks in that company. Now that he got mostly everyone he knew Joseph would begin the more difficult process and called specific people to see where he could get with them.

Here we stand or here we fall History won't care at all Make the bed, light the light Lady Mercy won't be home tonight Erik made his way to the third floor choosing to ignore almost everyone else on his way there. He had the unpopular opinion he wasn't at work to socialize which tended to rub people the wrong way. He dropped off the paper and returned to his office before jumping right back into what he was doing previously. He looked over the list of people Joseph had him set appointments with and tried to make some kind of connection. It was the inquisitive part of his brain that left him sitting at his desk staring at the names. He brushed it off and returned to work only to one again find he had very little to actually do. The business was run well by a man who actually was capable, t left him pretty much screening phone calls. He decided to go back to texting his brother to pass the time. He was rewarded with a slew of pictures from him and his family on their current vacation, most of the photos either he or a family member were using some ridiculous SnapChat filter and Erik did his best not to laugh.
