Location: Spa Day, Basement Jacuzzi with Daylia, Darius and Gabe

Suddenly paranoid that Felix might come running after she mentioned him, Daylia caught the reference. “It wouldn’t be the first time…” She said, cringing as her bestie said his name three times. “Now if he comes running, I’m telling him it was all your fault, and you’re the one who beckoned him.

Glancing about, Gracie resettled after a few seconds without the speedster’s presence. “With any luck he is.” And hopefully, whoever it was would keep him occupied for a long time. It was far healthier for her that way.

With the talk of costumes, Gracie wrote off going as anything terrifying, citing that she often scared the living daylights out of people without much effort. “Maybe… but it’s that wildcard factor that just leaves most to skidaddle when they see me coming.” Instead, she planned on going as Little Red Riding Hood, with the idea that the basket part of her costume would provide the most fun. “Why on earth would I share anything with that man?” She asked, incredulity over taking her countenance when Daylia teasingly suggested that the Georgia Belle might want to share some things with the resident speedster. “If I let Felix take something out of the basket, he might start thinking he can put things in my basket.

Their conversation was interrupted by the presence of a new addition to the pool room, and the girls both blurted out food, conferring with each other on something. The hex witch fell back on several excuses as to why nothing would happen on her end, citing her father, her disastrous marriage and her vow to swear off men, but Daylia seemed keen on egging on her bad decisions. “I’m not sure if it’s worth it.” She whispered back, her lips barely parting as she considered the newcomer. “But I’ll happily window shop.

Once he actually joined them, neither her nor her best friend could stop with the joking and innuendos. Thankfully, he didn’t feel drowned by the two of them tag teaming him, but once it got a little too close to her impulses taking over, she directed Darius’ attention to Daylia with a suggestion that a better time would be had in her company. Beaming as D shot her a look, Gracie’s shoulders rose toward the skies in a shrug and mouthed “I can’t” back at her. And though she had tried to keep his focus centered on her roomie, Darius wasn’t so easy to bait -- insinuating that she was deflecting her “freak” onto her partner in crime. “Nah. I’m domesticated now. Total snoozeville.” She said as she tried to keep a straight face. “Daylia is definitely the best that the academy has to offer.

Bobbing her head along with her best friend’s assessment that most guys bit off more than they could realistically chew, she giggled. “Especially when it comes to us.” But, Darius earned points for not hitting the ground and running far, far away already.

Gabe joined them after doing his laps in pool, and thought he was awkward about it, neither of the women batted him away just yet. “That Jell-O wall was only good after you doctored it.” Gracie admitted truthfully. “It tasted like I hadn’t put any sugar in it before.” Or alcohol. And she had definitely done both. He voiced an observation about their adventures in the kitchen and she couldn’t contain the snicker that burst forth. “The dancing toaster was a good one.” She said, rather proud of that mishap. At least no one could ever say they were boring. “What can I say? I must be cursed when it comes to domestic chores.” Her tone made it sound as though she were 100% joking, but half of her had to wonder how seriously to take it.

Something did always go wrong in the kitchen if she made an attempt to actually cook things. Mock whispering to the group, she let them in on a not-so-secret secret. “I was obviously a terrible wife.” Pausing, she tilted her head to the side as a thought crossed her mind. “Come to think of it… I was really horrible at all the housewife stuff. You’d think my botched cooking alone might have been an incentive for Bruce to divorce me. Right?” So why wouldn’t he?

Gabe left shortly after joining them, and Darius asked about their plans for the evening. Still thinking about her musings, she let Daylia handle the whole “date” thing, thinking that in the back of her mind… he’d probably regret that decision later in the night.

                                                    *It’s party time*

It hadn’t taken long to get ready, beyond blowing her hair dry and braiding it in pigtails, she did her make-up in a way that conveyed innocence, given her costume, she felt it appropriate. Given her impulsive lines in the hot tub, she was attempting to go for more of a “cute” look than a sexy one. This said, there wasn’t much she could do about the top, save situate the cloak on her shoulders so that not as much skin was on display.

Checking herself in the mirror, her nodded at her reflection with a slight note of approval. Her costume could be much worse, and while it certainly cut her figure well, it at least didn’t scream she wanted to hook up. “Mmm, girl you looking hawt.” Her roomie said, giving her official stamp of approval.

Pouting slightly, her face contorted with a bit of anxiousness. “Not too hot, right? I need to not look like I’m begging for attention, because I need no attention.” Sighing, she pulled the cloak again to get a wrinkle off her shoulder. “I’m just going to tape my mouth shut after all the lines I said to Darius earlier. This whole impulse thing is just getting worse.” Shaking her head, she still couldn’t believe some of it. Obviously, her dry spell was getting to her. While she often didn’t hold back and gave as good as she got, she normally didn’t do so with a complete stranger. “Hopefully, he’ll just be distracted with you. Just cover my mouth next time.

And if the lines kept coming anyway, there was always alcohol. With enough of it, she wouldn’t remember being so forward. Right. Alcohol. Dipping into her stash, she immediately poured a pair of shots for both of them. “We should probably start drinking now. Be buzzed before we get to the party.

The hex witch inspected her friend’s costume, and a smile touched her lips. “That looks amazing. Like you had been planning to go as a wolf this whole time.” She complimented, stepping over to her to blend one part that D had missed. “Just let me get this really quick.” In another lifetime, Gracie had to have been a makeup artist. She loved Halloween just for the sake of using her skills. “You definitely didn’t.

A knock interrupted their talk about her teeth, as the werewolf became inspired to scare their “date.” “There are so many jokes I could make to you about getting him from behind.” Hazel eyes danced with mischief, but she let this opportunity to tease her best friend go so as to have a little fun with the new kid.

Just a second!” The woman called through the door, the southern lilt lacing with a sweetness that would hopefully keep him from getting suspicious. Watching her best friend disappear through the wall, she waited a few more moments before swinging the door open to reveal their room to Darius. Donning a welcoming visage, she didn’t break character as Daylia started to growl from behind him.

"You came to the wrong neighborhood."

The devious plan worked a little too well, and the pharaoh in front of her jumped from being startled. With his hands still behind his back and distracted by something, he seemingly had trouble regaining his balance and stumbled into their room, knocking into her in the process.

The brunette dipped her head back with rich laughter. “You alright there, King Tut?” She asked, the fine line of one eyebrow arching with the query. Doing her best to keep her hazel gaze focused on everything above his shoulders, she pulled herself away when she felt tempted to check out the wall of abs in front of her and distracted herself with the prop part of her costume.

Yep. More tequila.” She muttered to herself, digging out another bottle from underneath her bed. "Time to pre-game guys. Just in case the staff decides to monitor the party."

xxxxxxxxxxLocation: Dorm Room >> Party /// Company: Chuck, Gabe

Alice laughed softly when Chuck said that she had gone all out for Halloween this year. "Yeah, well, I gotta spend my money on something other than music and booze." She kept working on perfecting her look when he went back to picking at his guitar and making a snide comment. "Don't those like... get in the way or whatever?" she looked at him for a long moment, doing everything in her power not to slow blink at him before she went back to doing what she was doing.

"I'm not planning on sucking a d**k with these in. So no, they don't."

Her face was as straight as could be as she painted her lips black. She turned the attention to his hair, wondering if he wanted those tight curls or not. She could probably get ahold of a pencil and some aluminum foil. Tighter the curl, the better. He questioned here before telling her to get herself put together before they would start on his own look. As much as she couldn't wait to 'accidentally' clip his ear with a hot iron, she decided to finish her own look.

Alice had Chuck help with her dress once she had it on, his hand on her hip for a long moment even after she felt the zipper slide up to the back of her neck. She pulled away from him after a moment, not letting it linger to any longer. "You're gonna make some guy so happy one day..." She looked over her shoulder at him for a moment, "Only if he's brave and stupid." Her standards were quite high.

The door opened and Farren had come in just in time to catch their conversation. Her roommate had her own comments about Alice's morning look. Her roomie asked who her friend was and Alice shook her head, "No clue, some foreign stowaway last time I went out for snacks." He introduced himself to Farren and made another snarky comment. "I'll remember that next time I catch ya staring at my a**."

Little shithead. She let the pair talk while she pressed on her nails. "Well, I was gonna do tight curls on his mop anyway." She looked between the pair as Farren mentioned Chuck rocking a beauty mark and some purple, to be prince rather than Michael. Chuck, on the other hand, declared that he should have been Elvis. "You're not white enough for Elvis." She looked over at her Hawaiian friend, grinning a bit as she squashed his dream.

Farren left and Chuck asked if they were gonna pregame. She grinned, waving for him to move as she got onto her hands and knees, digging under her bed. She pulled a box out finally and opened it up, revealing a big bottle of Jack and some of those silly little sample bottles of different kinds of liquor.

                                                          ------- Skip

There was no telling where the argument had started. But it did. She sat on her floor, with him sat between her legs as she pressed the last curl wrapped around a pencil with a hot flat iron. Finally, she pulled the hair free as Chuck stuttered his way through Colossus. A touch of hairspray and some fluffing, and he was set.

"Yeahhhhhhhhh. But Colossusss can surbive space.... If Wolberine was in space, he'd like... Suffocate for, like, ever." She slurred her way through her argument. Not that any of this conversation had made sense. "Am done, nerd." She tossed the pencil behind her onto her bed which would probably be a mistake later before she stood, legs stiff. She stumbled across the room in heels, ankles waking up slowly as he checked out her handiwork.

"Even if it looked bad, ya wouldn't know it." She grinned as she followed him after his declaration to head down to the party. The walk felt like it was longer than it was supposed to be. Maybe it wasn't that long. Either way, halfway through she hung on Chuck like a wet blanket to keep herself from falling face-first down the stairs.

They reached the party finally and she strolled in like she was ready to simultaneously terrify and own the place. "I need something that isn't liquor. Think you can find the drinks and food. I'm starving." She looked over at her friend, her blackout eyes making it a little harder to see than usual. It didn't help that her brain was foggy on top of it.

When Chuck left her side, she felt a body crash into her own from behind. She stumbled, barely catching herself on the needles she decided to wear on her feet. She turned around quickly, the room spinning a bit as her brain tried to catch up through the fog. "What. The. ********> If people weren't looking when he tripped, they probably were now. She was all fangs and spider filled rage that someone was that stupid to trip into her tonight. When she saw Gabe, there was little else that she could muster than a simple, "Bruh." It was dark, but Christ, she was half-blind and drunk and in heels and she wasn't even ******** tripping into s**t.

Darius couldn't help but peer about the hallway at the other students making their way out of their rooms, all their various costumes showing the volume of character this school's students brought with them. Darius would be lying if he said he didn't feel even an ounce of culture shock attending an Academy like this one, it was certainly nothing like any other school he'd attended before but he wasn't against new experiences and challenges. He recalled the briefing he had been given on his first day at the school, about the unique approach taken by the faculty to reach their students and equip them for the world around them. He really couldn't wait to establish himself, he was just waiting for a chance.

He heard movement within the room as he waited for the door to open. He couldn't help but chuckle inwardly in amusement. He had to say, today had gone far better than expected. Of course, he carried little expectation from a couple of lookers like Daylia and Gracie, but the fact was they were better company than his roommate and Darius hadn't exactly branched out and socialized too much since his arrival. The playful banter and sexual tension wasn't exactly a bad thing either, even if nothing came from the exchanges, they amused Darius in a way that was familiar, so he rolled with it. That's why he was here after all, first event of his new career at a new school and he already had two "dates."

Finally, he heard the click of the locking mechanism and the door eased open slowly, His eyes found Gracies as her visage came to be visible through the open door, then the rest of her, and the more he saw of her, the more impressed he became. His jaw dropped only slightly as his hands fell to his sides and a smile graced his lips as he let his eyes scan her outfit briefly before finding her eyes once more. "Wow... little red riding hood eh? Well, damn, I might let you ride-"

"You came to the wrong neighborhood."

Darius felt clawed hands rest upon his shoulders and a rough carnal voice speak a warning from only just behind him and before he knew it, he reacted. A shuffled step forward to escape the deadly grip of his attacker as he turned reflexively to see just who had gotten the best of him, instinctively reaching one arm out to protect Gracie from this spectre, only to have his hand brush against her chest as he stumbled back into her clumsily, his feet betraying him as he landed flat on his a**, one arm up defensively as he stared up at the figure behind him.

"Awww ********> Darius finally said with a smile and a deep sigh, one hand reaching across his chest to feel his own pounding heart, slowly returning to his feet as Gracie teased him. The Pharraoh couldn't help but laugh along with the two females as he glanced back towards the were-Daylia, his face full of honest surprise. "Okay, that was a good one! How did you do that?!" He finally responded with another laugh. "God, I thought that was gonna be it for me! For real!" He added with another chuckle as he tried to calm his pulse, moving further into their room, taking a quick look around to orient himself before glancing back towards Gracie "Oh I see, ya'll were in on this together ah, I see you!"

Before he would get much of a response, Gracie would fish a familiar sight from her basket of "goodies," A bottle of Golden Tequila, confirmed with her declaration. Darius grinned in approval as she declared that they needed to pregame before the party, though her comment on the staff made him curious.

"s**t, I'm down... I got some bottles in my room too but I was gonna save em for the after-party." He added, waiting patienty for his turn to take a drink from her bottle if she chose to offer it to him. "So I'm guessing they kinda strict about this s**t around here? Looks like I'm rollin with a couple of rebels tonight, ya'll get into this kinda trouble often?"

xxxxxxxxxxLocation: Kitchen > Dorm/// Company: Randal, Connor, Marcel > Marcel

August grinned under his makeup, “Tell ya what, next year, I’ll help out anyone who wants it.” He enjoyed playing around with different special effects looks, so if he could expand his skills to someone else, he would be more than happy to oblige. Randal mentioned that he deliberately didn’t choose a longer robe, because of the tripping hazard. August agreed with him silently. It made sense. There would be people everywhere, and if the kid didn’t step on it himself, then surely someone else would. Plus, those robes had to be heavy, and hot.

Marcel was the next one to join them in the kitchen during their pregame snack time. He smiled at the man at the awe he had before it turned into embarrassment over the fact that it was just makeup and not a mutation. In the dark skinned man’s lapse of sense, his powers pulled at whatever liquid was the closest. In this case, it was Connor’s soup. Though the man seemed to pay little to no mind at the incident, Marcel was quick to apologize and clean up his own mess.

Randal offered his own condolences to Marcel over the situation. They were pretty relaxed, and Connor seemed a little frozen in the situation. So the two costume toting boys decided to take the initiative in making Marcel feel better. “Yeah, don’t pay it no mind, adds to the Halloween spirit. Coulda cried ghosts and we woulda played along.”

When he heard that Marcel had never celebrated Halloween or even wore a costume before, he had to contain himself. It was a tradition growing up. His sister always insisted on being a unicorn or a princess. She liked being pretty. He, on the other hand, was always scary. He remembered dressing like classic slasher film killers several years in a row.

“We’ll make sure you got enough candy for a stomach ache by the end of the night.” Randal was as dumbfounded as August. But Marcel coulda grown up in a very different place. The talk of Morlocks was enough to tell the gravity manipulator that. Connor asked what they were supposed to be, and August’s costume wasn’t elaborate enough to be anything specific. And it was frighteningly obvious. He wasn’t aiming to be anyone.

Randal dished out his best-worst English accent when he declared that he was Harry Potter and August let out a snort. Marcel didn’t have a costume, and Connor checked out completely after that. August shook his head, not paying mind to the man or the mess in the kitchen he left behind. August wasn’t their mother or maid, so the last thing he was gonna do was to put away leftovers.

August admitted that he looked better under the makeup, and Randal got a bit of a laugh from that. Randal offered up his own costume supply for something for Marcel, and August’s own skills were laid out on the table. “I’d be more than happy to oblige, darlin’.” The last thing the gravity manipulator would do is complain in the presence of someone so damn good looking. A long moment of staring directly at the man’s face while he turned it into something spooky? Hell yeah.

August took another handful of his salty-sweet snack mix and popped it into his mouth, wiping his hands off on a paper towel to remove any chocolate before he closed up the bag of chips. He stored them away out of habit, ignoring the fact that everything else was laid out in the kitchen anyway. “C’mon, we can find a few ideas online and I can give you something perfect for last minute.”

                                                          ----- Time Skip

August was grateful that Marcel hadn’t picked something too complicated to do. The traditional zipper face makeup was easy. And he had the supplies. A little red face paint and a little blood went a long way. He was careful to avoid getting any glue or latex on the man’s eyebrows, the last thing he wanted to do would be to ******** those up. Blood and paint and latex for texture to give it a more under the skin and meaty appearance. And voilà he was finished.

August offered up a mirror to the man before stepping away. He blinked, his eyes focusing on something a little less direct as he looked around the room. Fishing his phone out of his pocket, he checked the time. The party had already started, but they were just enough to be fashionably late. “Good thing about a look like ours, you don’t need a costume.” He grinned, putting his hood up to give shadow to his face and create the illusion of seeing his spine.

He held open the door to his dorm room once Marcel seemed ready to join the festivities, “Shall we?”

User ImageThe news that there was going to be a halloween party for all the students had spread through the student body like wildfire. Immediately, Raine had started thinking about her costume, though she had limited time to get it together. Between student counsel meetings and getting ready for model U.N., plus her tutoring activities and normal coursework, and shew as already stretched pretty thin. That didn't mean she was going to miss out on the fun, though. Especially when she saw how excited Addi was. They very quickly decided that the beach bunny was going to be a mermaid - a decision which she wholeheartedly supported. Together they had bedazzled a bra, and put together an amazing skirt that really flowed like a mermaid tail when she walked. She was going to be quite a hit.

As for her own costume, Raine was undecided. Her immediate reaction had been an orange, which she immediately got started on. Paper mache was, after all, one of her strong suites. It was Addi that had suggested a German bar maid, which was also a really cute option. The only problem was that it didn't feel unique. And she had a sneaking suspicion there were going to be a large number of scantily-clad girl competing in that space.

And so it was that Raine slipped into her paper mache orange, just as Addi called from the next room. Perching her matching orange hat on her head, she called out in response, "I think so! Let me know what you think."

Stepping out, the firefly did a quick spin, holding what was visible of her arms out as she exclaimed, "Ta da!" A cheesy grin spread across her features as she searched her friend's face to assess how she felt about the outfit, looking at the nail polishes that the girl had pulled out to match her outfit. Grabbing up a teal one and holding it up against the outfit, she considered for a moment before putting it back down and grabbing a glittery green one.

"This one," she said simply, smiling as she looked over the mermaid before her. "You look beyond cute! I'm so excited," she squealed, doing a little jig with her hands, protruding from the orange she wore, flailing excitedly. Suddenly, she stopped, looking down at her rotund orange form.

"You know, this is a little hard to move in." Rounding on the hydropmorph, her expression serious, she stepped forward, taking the mermaid by the arms Unfortunately, that meant that her orange sphere pressed between them, straining under the pressure.

"Be honest with me. The orange isn't working, is it." It wasn't a big deal for her to change....but she really liked her hat.

                                                ----------------------------------- Time Skip -----------------------------------

User ImageRaine gave a quick twirl in the mirror, her red skirt billowing out around her. It hadn't taken a lot of convincing for her to switch costumes, and Addi had been generous enough to help curl her hair while she put the finishing touches on her make up. As they stood together, he couldn't help but remark that they were a good looking pair. The boys were going to wild for the hydromorph, and she had to admit that while the orange would always hold a special place in her heart, she was glad that she had decided to change. Not only was she lookin' cute, but it would be much easier to dance and move around if she wasn't worried about bumping into everything or knocking the punch bowl off the table.

"Are you excited? I hope there's going to be some good food there," she mused as the pair walked to the party, arms linked together. As they walked into the party, she immediately caught sight of Caleb sitting by himself. Nudging her best friend and motioning in his direction, she knew that Addi would want to know that he was there. Especially with him looking like he would literally rather be anywhere else right now.

Almost immediately, her attention was drawn to Cam, who hollered over the noise and the music to get everyone's attention. He announced that Scott had asked him to crack down on underage drinking, but that he knew that it was going to happen anyway. If they could just make sure that he didn't see them drinking, that would be enough to keep him from getting in trouble, to which Raine gave a curt nod.

"I mean, that's honestly the best he is going to be able to do," she muttered to her friend, turning back to the rest of the room to see who else was already there and see if there were any other facts conspicuously missing. As she caught anyone's eye, she gave a brilliant smile and a small wave, where appropriate. So far it looked like they had a pretty good turn out, and people were continuing to filter through the door as everyone turned their attentions back to having a good time. Turning to her friend, the brunette tossed her curls over her shoulders, motioning towards the refreshments table.

"I'm going to get something to drink. You want something?"

    Location: James’ Room
    Company: James, Roland, Aurelie

User ImageIt was nice to be back at the mansion. For one there was certainly less pressure on him around the mansion, despite them wanting him to set a good example given his recruiter status. But given the fact that he does conduct himself professionally while on recruitment missions and all. They let it slide if he isn't a perfect role model while at the mansion. That isn't to say Quintin was a problem case just that he was young and did tend to enjoy having a good time.

Thankfully Roland heard the Irish mutants request to move aside and did just that. And heard James refer to him as the prodigal son as he entered the room. “Well you know can't let things get to boring around here without me. Or you know blow up.” Quintin said with smirk and a shrug. It was true his power lent itself well to stopping powers to go too rampant and blow up the school. Though at the same time his powers could lead to amping said powers up and making the crater even larger. It was fun to be able to both boost someones ability or even negate it.

“Figures he would be off doing something so I couldn't give this to him and have this done.” He said shaking his head.

He kept the smile on his face as he shook the blondes hand, who introduced herself as Aurelie. Quintin couldn't help but lightly chuckle at her calling Blake a TA. While it wasn't correct but it wasn't hard to see Blake in a TA role. “Oh he isn't so much a TA as he is more of a supervisor. I'm a recruiter and report to Blake.”

It didn't take long for things to return to the subject Quintin had interrupted them on the Halloween party. Asking if he was going to be in attendance. “Well since I had the good luck of returning on the day of a party I certainly shouldn't go about missing it now can I.” He was sure he could find something to wear in time for the event. “As for my costume I am not sure gonna see what I can scrounge up. I will do my best to not steal your ideas.”

Then Aurelie left with bags saying she needed to get going if she were to have any luck finding something to wear. “I am sure you will pull off what ever you decide to wear.” The Irish born mutant said as he believes and has seen how confidence can make even awful attire seem better do to the presence given off.

Tossing the folder over on to what he knew to be Blake's bed, he turned to James again. “I should do the same. Make sure Blake gets that will you?” And with that Quintin turned to walk out the door knowing James was trust worthy so the report would be safe till Blake got it.

It was surprisingly easy to locate a costume for the party. Quintin couldn't help but be amused what he found was a superhero costume. Decked out in the scarlet and gold of the Flash.

He walked into the area where the party was taking place. There are the gamete of costumes, simple, elaborate, sexy, standard, and scary. It was a nice sight to see. Quintin took a moment to really look around the room. And heard a minor commotion between a spider demon and a wanna be Eastwood.

Crossing the room to get some punch. Taking a sniff of the drink after pouring a cup, was surprised to to have an overwhelming smell of alcohol. In fact he didn't smell any and was slightly shocked. So he downed the glass and poured another one. Then moved over to the snacks and ate what he assumed as sausage ball. Even if it wasn't it tasted good so he didn't really care.

((OOC: Nothing amazing but it is good to be writing again. So feel free to bug Quintin.))

    Two Years Ago, Mogadishu, Somalia

His feet pounded into the rubble of the city street, his muscles straining as he moved with purpose. He’d already taken down one militiamen with a spear, his body pushing through the gunfire to get to his fellow soldier. Bullets whizzed by him, with rounds bursting around him on the ground. Finally reaching his comrade, he put his back to the enemy, scooping him up into his arms. He let the armor slither and form a barrier around him. Lifting up his charge, he pummeled his way forth back to cover.

Laying him down behind the remnants of a blown out building, he checked him over. Aside from the GSW in his leg, there were no other injuries. He was lucky, to say the least. It was a typical tactic, wound one to draw in others, bring them into the fire, create more more casualties. He began to work, another soldier moved to him.

“What can I do?” he asked, Roland grabbed his arm with a catcher mitt of a fist and placed it on the leg, “Pressure, keep it.”

“I need to get the bleeding stopped, you guys got a medevac called right?”

”On it’s way! ETA 10 minutes!” called out the LT.

Soon the enemy fire stopped, calls to cease fire were made. As he scrambled, getting the bleeding to stop as best he could, he felt the ground tremble as what he hazard to guess were footsteps.

    Big footsteps.

    “Oh ******** me, what now?”

    Now

His thoughts of the past were quickly routed by the sudden bump that he felt from behind. Turning around he saw that someone had bumped into him, another student by the looks of it. The man remarked on his size, to which he had to chuckle. “Wheaties? No, steak and potatoes my friend.” Looking to the man he introduced himself, “Roland Chevalier. Pleasure.” he offered a one of his bear paws to him. With his other hand he grabbed a flask from his pants pocket. With a deftness gifted from years of experience, he popped it open and took a pull of the contents. The contents were something that he’d picked up from a friend of his in the service. A Tennessee bourbon that he’d gotten wind of, the the taste and burn of the whiskey was fantastic. It was elements of peat, vanilla, and oak, danced along his taste buds.

With a polite gesture, “Care for a taste?” he offered, with a smile, “Some of the best bourbon out there.”

He soon heard the steps of someone tripping and what he could only hazard to guess was the angry response to that said person tripping. He chuckled for a moment, and then took another pull before he could reply. This was going to be, a hell of a night.

With some hope, he was going to be at least tipsy for it.

    OOC: Hope it’s not awful.

Finding Felix turned out to be the easy part. Why she thought that he would take credit for what was clearly his handiwork, however, was beyond her. As she stated without a moment's hesitation that he had to be the one that did it, he continued to deny that it was him. She felt her jaw drop ever so slightly as he chided her for throwing around accusations without any proof, standing in silence for a moment as she just stared at him.

"I....I just can't," she sighed, putting her face in her hands as he explained the situation to June, who stepped forward and sniffed the air around her to confirm that it did smell like cherry. She stared at the girl as she indicated that the only thing that would have kept her from just drinking the water was the fact that cherry wasn't her favorite flavor of kool aid.

"Yea because if it had been blue raspberry, that would definitely have made this whole situation better," the redhead said simply, her tone dripping with sarcasm. Asking the girl if she knew which showers were safe to use so she could rinse off, she wasn't surprised when the virokinetic said that she had no idea, especially since she had no idea that Felix even pulled this prank. Felix chimed in, stating that even if he had been involved in the prank, which he was still disavowing all knowledge of, he might not know which showers were safe to use and which were going to spout Kool Aid.

"Great," she muttered to herself, running her fingers back through her drying hair and getting them tangled momentarily as the sugary liquid was starting to mat together. Of course, it was at that moment that Blake decided to make an appearance, green eyes moving over to him as the redhead internally wished she could just sink into the floor and disappear. There was nothing she wanted more in that moment to be just about anywhere else. It had been awhile since the break up, but it as easier to avoid him most of the time, and of course the first time they were actually going to be forced to interact she was in a rob, with sticky hair, and red kool aid staining her skin.

Growling in frustration as she pulled her hand free, she glared at the speedster as he suggested they re-enact the prom scene from Carrie at the Halloween party. June started asking about logistics, to which the redhead's expression turned to one fo disappointment.

"Come on, June. Don't encourage him. You're better than that." It was almost a tone of desperation; begging. Of course, Blake spoke up and complimented the speedster's prank, suggesting that it was better than the bloodied heads he left in the staff fridge the year before. Another sigh escaped her as she brought a hand up to smooth back a stray sliver of sticky hair.

"I...I don't know what I expected," she muttered with a disappointed exhale, as Blake told her that it was a good look for her. Instinctually, she drew her robe closer around her as she suddenly became aware once more that she was standing before two (albeit annoying as hell) boys in nothing but a robe. And one of them had seen what was underneath before. She was determined, however, not to back down from either of them. So, she forced herself to relax, remembering every detail so she could relay it all to Ripley later, and stress about every minute detail.

"Oh, yea, I guess I didn't think of it that way. Leave it to you to find the silver lining." There was a false sweetness to her voice that implied she wasn't really giving him a compliment. It was just like when they had been dating - the silver lining in their break up had been that he could now relish the attentions of every other bimbo that threw themselves at him with impunity.

June offered to help her find a clean shower, or to torturing Felix until he told them which showers were safe to use. It was a tempting offer, she had to admit. In her mind's eye, she already imagined a variety of ways she could extract the information if she could catch him. Unfortunately, that was always the problem.

Her green gaze rounded on the speedster, regarding him intensely, "That latter option is very tempting. Have anything that would slow him down, June?" She was joking, though there was nothing in her demeanor that would given that away. Felix countered that they could also appeal to his better nature, or bribe him, to which the muscle mimic gave a laugh.

"Felix, you don't have a better nature," she said simply, shaking her head as he calmly stated that he would have told her which showers were free of Kool Aid for a kiss. I'd rather be covered in Kool Aid, the redhead thought to herself, glancing at Blake in what she hoped was a non-chalant manner to see how he reacted to the idea of her kissing someone else. Felix told the Texan that if Cyclops was looking for him, he was to deny having seen the speedster, at least acknowledging that he was about to piss off a substantial portion of the staff. Her only hope was that she would be around to see it when it happened. Since she wasn't getting anywhere, and she needed to get ready for the party, Kerri glared at the prankster one last time, "Felix, I'm serious. Fix it." Pointing at him to punctuate her point, her gaze swept the room before she turned on her heel and stormed off to try to find a regular shower. There was still so much to do before the party.

---------- Time Skip to Party ----------

A Jaguar walked into the Halloween party, Kerrigan adjusting the fur hood perched on her head as she glanced around for friendly faces. It had taken more time than she was willing to admit to find a shower that didn't spout cherry Kool Aid, and then to get the stick out of her hair and off her skin. It severely ate into her time to get ready, though she had immediately been texting Ripley about her encounter with Blake, and how terrible it had been. Honestly, she was more pissed off about it now that she had time to sit and think about everything that transpired than she had been at the time. Of course, a flood of snappy retorts and perfect lines had started to flood into her brain as soon as she turned to walk away, but the damage was already done. Next time they ran into each other, she would be looking better. That was for damn sure.

Cam made an announcement concerning underage drinking, which essentially boiled down to "don't let me see you do it." She had a feeling that the punch was already more alcohol than punch (and she was sure she would be able to trace it back to Felix, too). Given the events of the afternoon, she was honestly hoping it was pretty strong.

Making her way over to the refreshments table, her smile faltered as she took a deep drink of punch and realized it didn't taste like it had been spiked yet. "Felix is slacking," she said to no one in particular, glancing over at Quintin who happened to be nearby and giving him a small smile. He was helping himself to some snacks, which she moved towards.

    "How was it?"

Thoughts: Oh god, why’d it have to spiders...

In a matter of seconds as he walked into the party, his boots clinging as the spurs clicked across the ground. Just a matter of seconds when he walked in that he made a complete and utter a** of himself. He wasn’t sure how the hell he managed it, but the idiot managed to trip and fall right into another party-goer. Maybe it was the boot getting caught on a wire, maybe it was something slippery on the floor, maybe he was just a complete and utter dumbass. No matter the cause, his feet decided him “Walking? Haha! NOPE!!” and took his movement. The idiot bumbled around and finally found purchase in the back of another partygoer (Alice). “Oh god I’m so sorry!” he stammered out. And it took him a second as his eyes registered that whoever he bumped into, was… well… very attractive.

Now he wasn’t the type to ogle a woman, but well, he wasn’t blind either. The dress clung tightly to her, showing every single curve in all of their finest glory. The heels she wore were just enough to accentuate her legs perfectly. It was all very, very attention-grabbing, even for someone with well the kind of peculiarity that Gabriel often exhibited.

    And then she turned around…

Now he can understand that when it’s Halloween one goes towards working on a costume that’s scary. He can respect that. Some people on Halloween also go for the… sexual... inclinations. Sexy nurses, sexy cops, sexy whatevers. So seeing the “sexy” from behind as he bumped into her, shifting into the “scary” in the front, well it was a perplexing experience to say the least. It was a twisted combination of sudden horror and arousal that really confused the ever-loving hell out of the young man.

“I uh…” he barely got out as he stood there with a look of pure fear and… excitement? That was the word, he was excited. And this made him even worse.

If he could drink he’d have been able to erase his mind of this horrific moment. But he was cursed with a life of sobriety.

Walking around the party, it was painfully obvious to Wraith that he was out of his element. An introvert to the extreme, he didn't do well in crowds. Particularly with nobody he could identify with or talk to that he was comfortable. As such, he wandered around, being very careful not to bounce off of anybody. His mask and attire kept people from recognizing him enough to keep most at bay, and that was a bit of a blessing. He didn't have to worry about making small talk with every member of the house compliment. On the other hand, Wraith was already starting to feel lonely and just tired. Moving off to the side, he ended up near the beverages and snacks, but just slowly removed his mask. Perhaps it was too much? The young man held it in his hand and doing so changed the overall look of his costume from a Plague Doctor to just a nondescript man in black with a wide hat. He watched as the party began to go into full swing, and took note of how others were interacting. They all looked like they were having such fun. Why didn't he? Wraith understood that it was because of his own introversion, but at the same time, he felt as if it would be better to go out there and talk. It was just so hard.

Instead, he watched them all with interest. Who paired up with whom? Was Amp here? What of his roommate, Monsoon? No, Marcel. Coming here has been an opportunity to remake himself, so it was often that the mutant caught himself using code names as opposed to birth names. it was his own preference bleeding through. Wraith found himself wondering what Marcel would come as. Something athletic? Perhaps some renowned leader. In a way, this was a chance to really show what kind of person you were. Taking that into account, Wraith found a new pleasure in people-watching. He enjoyed the idea of guessing a bit more about the people attending by who they were dressed up as. How this new persona might be presented. Were they jabbing at the source material, or elevating it? Wraith chose his costume out of convenience and simply liking the darker palette.

    Location: Halloween party

In any gathering of people, there tends to be more noise. In a party setting, you add in noise and music, and the level tends to be much higher. Still, as the Halloween party began to gain steam, you could regularly hear a rather distinctive laugh as somebody was having the time of their life. "High five!" A joke that never seemed to get old to Connor, was how he greeted most people at the party. While most of his jokes were at the expense of his costume, he didn't care. Funny was funny! Offering to do a handstand or two, or even asking rhetorical questions like "Who wants to do a fastball special?!" were just a few things he was spouting. Despite his extreme body horror 'costume,' he was still a goofball that enjoyed laughter. Connor wasted no time in saying hello to just about anybody that gave him more than a passing glance. He mingled straight through the crowd. In his mind, he was kind of unmistakable anyway, so why the hell not? Anything he could do to goof around his right arm. Finger guns were also a favorite.

All this laughter and movement drove up a thirst, and so the Irishman had no problem finding the refreshments table and loading up on punch. For comedic effect, he used a regular glass in his grotesque right hand and popped out a pinky as he drank, faking a British accent. "Jolly good, what?" preceded a stuck out tongue to prove he was just goofing. He was living his best life at the moment, truly enjoying just hanging out with who knows how many people? Some dressed up, some didn't, but what mattered was that they were relaxing and having a good time.

OOC: again, short but not sure what to do with him for now. He just wants to party.

Lights from cameras flashed, their silvery-white light piercing the darkness of the crowded showroom. As they gazed towards the lit stage, they could see the fake fog from machines offstage billowing and blanketing the stage floor More camera flashes. The lights on stage flickered and shuttered, creating a luminescent light show that illuminated the reflective particles that were cascading from the rafters above. The finale was about to begin.

A young man, dressed in suit and tie, whipped back and forth upon the stage, stirring the fog into a frenzy as he did. With a perfect smile and a devilish look of mischief in his eyes, he slowly climbed the stair ladder that was positioned to a large tank full of water. "Ladies and gentlemen, don't take your eyes off of the stage." The dulcet tones of his Irish accent echoed across the showroom space. "You won't want to miss any of this."

He climbed down the stair ladder and positioned himself forward on the stage, in front of the tank. Several young women in periwinkle-colored leotards surrounded him, each holding a set of chains. "Tonight, I will be locked and shackled in a straight-jacket and submerged into the tank you see behind me with the tank being sealed shut. My only hope of escape? A set of keys on the bottom of the tank. It will be me racing the clock as I struggle against time itself and the air in my lungs in order to free myself. Ladies and gentlemen, this could very well be my last performance on this stage or any stage thereafter."

He slowly removed his jacket and loosened his tie before a final girl brought out the straight jacket in which he was helped into. He play flirted with them as each of them fitted the chains around him and locked them tight, enticing a bit of laughter from the audience. "Now, as you can see," he said as he spun around several times, "I am completely secure." He made his way to the first step of the ladder. "Now I am going to be hooked up the crane and lifted over the opening of the tank." As he ascended the ladder, he stopped at the final step and one of the girls placed the hook of the crane onto one of the links of one of the chains. He was slowly lifted into the air several feet above the tank and the ladder was carted off.

He gave one final look out to the crowd and said with a smile: "Kids, don't try this at home...." He was then plunged into the water and the top was sealed over the tank. A digital clock blinked to life, counting upwards to show how long he had been in the tank. In typical fashion, he began to swish back and forth in the water, struggling to remove himself from the jacket. He clanged into the sides of tank, drawing in the attention of the spellbound crowd. He moved more violently now as he was nearing a minute. More camera flashes.

And then, suddenly, every light went out in the room. Only seven second went by on the clock which had remained active and the lights came back on. The man in the tank was gone. Patrons and guests alike looked around and did not see anything. Not the man, not the girls, no one. It was a few seconds after this, however, that music swelled and filled the silence with lights panning up towards the balcony seats. There, the man appeared, sopping wet but otherwise unharmed.

The crowd roared in cheers and applause as he smiled and took a bow. "You've been wonderful. Thank you and goodnight."

Those days were behind him. There hadn't been many -- only a few years -- but they were damn good ones. He'd be lying if he said that he missed the spotlight, the accolades, the attention. He wasn't a mega celebrity but he couldn't walk down a crowded street without at least someone knowing his name. Those days were fading, though. Ever since he stopped performing, he felt like he was shrinking out of existence. Before hitting puberty and having his abilities manifest, he wasn't anyone really...just the son of an Irish Catholic man that didn't like doing what his dad told him to do. He'd probably kill him if he knew what he was doing now.

He looked up at the bathroom mirror and watched as the face in front of him stared back. He could make himself look like anything he wanted, but this was the face that the shrinking populace of the outside world knew him as. But here...among people with gifts more spectacular than his own, he was a dim light bulb in a room full of searchlights.

He bent down and turned on the faucet before cupping his hands and splashing water in his face. He reached for a hand towel hanging next to the sink and dabbed his face dry. "Right, enough of that. Let's go see what this party is supposed to be like." He turned off the water and threw the towel into the sink before making his way into the hallway. No one was around. He shook his head and shrugged before making his way towards the sound of people where he would eventually emerge.

"Halloween," he said dully. "At least there's booze."

At this Location: Party Thinking About: Making drink's an art While on Team: Atlas

After his announcement, a few people rolled their eyes, several ignored, and some just turned away and drank with their backs to him.

Farren came up to him, mocking him about his announcement and indicating him being lame and going as far as calling him an 'old geezer.'

"You're only as lame as you make yourself to be. These people can call me lame, but by god, I will outdrink everyone here." He said, taking another sip of his drink. "You know I can't simply just give it to you."

As he was about to leave his drink and proclaim that he misplaced it, Farren made a statement of going to get snacks, he shrugged, picking his drink back up and finishing it. Three drinks in, barely 30 minutes into the party. Gotta pace. He walked his way over to the drink and snack table, poured up some orange juice and grenadine and made a tequila sunrise for himself this time.

He caught a whiff of the punch bowl and shook his head, "Kids these days just don't know how to make a good drink." Cam muttered to himself. He turned about, looking for familiar faces, he spotted Roland which wasn't too hard given his height, someone else who was ex-army and one of the few who happened to be over 21.

"I'm gonna head over there. Just look for the skyscraper." Cam told Farren, gesturing towards Roland uncertain if she wanted to still hang out with an 'old geezer.'

Pouring another tequila sunrise, this time with a bit more tequila than what was in his, he walked on over and as he got closer, he could see Randal next to him with a flask extended to him.

"Hey hero," Cam said to Roland, a term that often irked many in the service by the overly exuberant sergeants trying to motivate their Joes. He extended the tequila sunrise to Roland."I know it's a bit froo-froo, but by god is it strong." He said, knowing full well that the tower before him preferred less sweeter drinks. "Scoobs," Cam gave a nod. "Why are you just holding your flask out?" Cam said, angling himself and cocking his hat to the side to block Randal out of his field of view, playing dumb so he wouldn't see him drink if he took up the offer of the flask.

Location: Kitchen — Dorm —> Party
    With: August
Thoughts: Nice costume || Now, what exactly happens at a party?

He didn’t want to be rude. If they were offering to help him with a costume for a one-time of the year thing, he was willing to go with it. He just doubted that he might actually stay throughout the entire thing, not when games and other luxuries called his name. Whatever this thing truly entailed of, anyways. Marcel was underwhelmingly enthused about this entire situation given he honestly hadn’t a clue about the festivities, but who was in a good mood? Why, August, of course. In all of his molten glory, the spooky looking mutant was offering to give Marcel a proper gimmick amid amorous gestures. The hydrokinetic wasn’t oblivious to it. He was just wrapping his head around the thought, but in the end, he just nodded while following, saying with a raised hand pointed towards August “With a convincing face like that, I’m game for anything.”

    ****** T I M E S K I P *******

And no truer words could be said. When he finally got the whole idea of what this little holiday spirit meant, why settle for his bland ideas he might have originally had for a costume? Some might have thought he would arrive clad in a Fútbol attire of some of his favorite athletes. As much as he liked Soccer, that just would not be the case. Until his “greats” could muster powers of their own, then he might reconsider if they should he idolized or not. He could have been some of the theological great leaders of old, even. But, why dress preppy? What was he aiming to show everyone? That he was some kind of asstight p***k? No, thank you. August had creativity and that’s something Marcel valued enough to just inquire about using something with prosthetics, makeup, paint; the full works.

It was simple, really. The middle of his face was made to look like the infrastructure of his insides with a prosthetic zipper around it. It might have been just a little simplistic, but certainly more complex than an uninspired look that just screamed cheap. As Marcel looked at his reflection in the mirror, he never had to worry about the idea of having to wear just those exact costumes. This thought resonated more when August mentioned the exact same thing.

”Great,” ecstatic and enthused was his voice as he looked at the generous male kind enough to help him out. ”Nice and slightly spooky. I would have dreaded wearing some cheap alternative instead, but...what exactly happens at this kind of a shindig?”

He walked out the dorm with August. By shindig, he meant the party, dance...dancing party...whatever worked for the person who came up with the idea itself. He was by far the word tense and even in some parts, just a tad shy of being introverted much like his roommate, but he was willing to have some kind of fun. He just had to get over his little stigma of dense crowds, which is why on their way in, he was directly behind August himself, peeking from around the corner of the male’s body to glance ahead every once in a while. Much like the other mutant, Marcel had the hood to his hoodie tossed over his head.
