September 2018 Academy: Social Studies Freshling 1. Student randomizes between 1 and 23. The number rolled is the race they get. 2. Student thinks of a defining trait from the race they've been assigned. 3. Word count minimum is 150 words! 4. ??? Profit!
Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Ashe
Number Rolled: 22, Bakeneko
Defining Trait: Ashe yawned, hopping to his feet to answer after the slime girl. It had taken the teacher calling his name a couple times for him to realize it was his turn and even then he had to double check his paper for his race to give a trait for. Smothering another yawn he stretched as he spoke, hoping the yawn would go away. "Bakeneko have tails with the split in them." This was the most obvious trait, but he knew a couple more. "Their fur is also real good at keeping them cool in the hot desert and their eyes have a slit instead of a dot like everyone else!" Satisfied with his knowledge about the subject, he nodded a couple times and then hopped back up into his seat. Getting comfy again, he kept from falling asleep from pure willpower. He was just resting his eyes, thank you very much!

September 2018 Academy: Social Studies Junior 1. Student randomizes between 1 and 23. The number rolled is the race they get. 2. Student describes the rolled race's courtship behaviors 3. Word count minimum is 150 words. You may not directly copy/paste from the race page. 4. ??? Profit!
Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Kanda
Number Rolled: 5, Dryad
Courtship Time!: Kanda stood at the front of the class, signing concisely to describe dryads' method of courting. "Dryads make crowns out of the foliage that drops naturally in their specific biosphere. They won't pick or cut anything that's still alive, but the moment it falls it's fair game." Kanda paused a moment to think, then continued with her signing. "Dryads who have moved away from tradition use dating apps and things like that." Truthfully, there hadn't been much to tell. The bit about crowns had been interesting, but the fact that there hadn't been anything else to tell someone if a dryad was interested felt odd to her. Thankfully she didn't have any dryads who were trying to date her because she liked making flower crowns with Meadow on occasion and that'd be weird to explain.
Done with her assigned presentation, Kanda threaded her way back to her seat and carefully took it so the next student could start.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Hikito Kanti
Number Rolled: 10, imp
Courtship Time!: Imps were easy, Hikito had thought as soon as she'd gotten this assignment. She'd chatted up a couple imp friends and then jotted it down easy peasy. Now that it was time to actually present her findings to the class, Hikito could hardly contain herself. She hadn't really paid any attention to the grimm who went ahead of her, just bounding out of her seat so she could get to the front of the class to get this over with.
"Imps are a very physically affectionate race, so they jump into close relationships really fast. This goes for both romantic ones and platonic ones. Most other races find it hard to figure out if an imp wants to be a close friend, start a relationship, or just have a brief fling, but if you ask the imp in question, they'll help clear it up right quick. They also tend to like polyamory too." Hiktio tapped her finger to her mouth a couple times, thoughtfully, then made a quick jazz hands. "That's pretty much it for them~" With that, she flounced back to her seat, plopping her rump back into her chair to wait for the next nightmare to start their presentation.

September 2018 Academy: Social Studies Senior 1. Student randomizes between 1 and 23. The number rolled is the race they get. 2. Student describes the rolled race's Family Values and/or Customs. 3. Word count minimum is 200 words. You may not directly copy/paste from the race page. 4. ??? Profit!
Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Tourmaline
Number Rolled: 20, naga
Family Values: "Naga value their family over their friends any time. If a family member needs them, then their friends are tossed aside at a moments notice. But apparently they're also quite polite? Manners are a big deal, though you can get quite a few backhanded compliments instead of insults." Tourmaline hadn't found very much else about the naga. Like what kind of family groups they had, or how they felt about education, so all they had to go on was that family was most important. To him it meant that a naga was only as dependable as a fair-thee-well friend. Someone who was there for good times but would abandon you at the first sign of a cloud in the sky. It made him quite glad he didn't have any naga friends yet. If they were strongly traditional, he'd only be a friend for as long as someone in the family didn't need them. That meant that they weren't any kind of real friend. Family was important, he for one had his sibling to count on, but he also knew that friends were just as important. Any naga who grew up outside their homeland would be bereft of the kind of extensive family that a naga who had those connections.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Wesley
Number Rolled: 2, demon
Family Values: Wesley cracked a grin at the rest of the class. Honestly, he'd gotten the easiest one of the whole lot with demons. True, he had a whole hodge-podge of different races in him, but surprisingly, demon wasn't one of them. At least, he was fairly confident it wasn't. "Now, see here, demons... demons are a very civilized folk. They believe that you should show the same common courtesies that they show you. For families and the like, they typically don't live with their parents once they reach adulthood. Instead they strike off on their own to make their own way in life. While they're raising the squirts, the families are typically the parents and the squirts, possibly a grandparent or two in there, but rarely is that the case."
Wesley shrugged a shoulder, showing what he thought of that. Considering he'd more or less raised himself, he didn't really care about the "family norms", so this was just an assignment to him. That was all he had, so he just went to plop himself right back into his chair to zone out until class was done for the day. He couldn't wait until he was done and out of school. It was such a drag.

Username: Kaefaux Student Name: Reina
Number Rolled: 21 -- Chomps
Defining Trait: Reina eyed the race that showed up on the piece of paper she pulled out of the hat. Chomps. Uh. The Grimm blinked blankly at the paper for a while before she finally pulled out one of her books talking about the different races that lived in their world. Which ones were the Chomps again..? She peered over the pages and her face went red as she realized which ones among her classmates that were Chomps. Oh. Right. Oops.
She looked over the information in the little blurbs in the book, and squinted at her classmates that bore the same features as the person on the pages. Ok, but what was a defining trait..? Hm… Her claws clicked on her desk a few times before she realized that was… uh. Yeah that worked.
One of the defining traits of a Chomp is their floating claws, tail tips, and sometimes other parts for hybrids. These pieces are detached from the rest of the Chomp's body and hover near the body instead. They can be pulled a short distance from the main body, but if pulled a foot or more from the body, then bits like the claws no longer work and need to be regrown. Tail tips cannot be regrown but also don't stop working if pulled too far from the body. These floating parts are a defining trait of a member of the Chomp race.
She looked over the bit she wrote, and then back at the blurbs from the book, and figured that was good enough for the assignment. Right?
