Running, stumbling, sprinting for the gates-- she barely registered the flicker of blue hair out of the corner of her eyes, she passed it off as people running from the explosion. She had been a decent distance from the village but the sound had reached her even there shoving her heart in to her throat in a panic. Kya, Sadayo, Lady Uzukage; they could all be injured or worse and again she hadn't been there to stop it. She let out a hiss of annoyance as the gate guards stopped her, not at them doing their jobs but for the time being lost of her being able to get to the blast zone. "Let me through dammit! Sonyo Rue, ally of the village! Every second I waste here is seconds that people can die!"
They looked at eachother, unsure, but let her pass. She took off on a sprint again, through the streets of Uzushiogakure as the smoke started settling around her. The fear on the faces of the civilians... it reminded her of Suna. Her heart ached, she could do nothing for them right now. She needed to get to the blast zone, to get to the injuries, to help. She would come back to them later with a shoulder to cry on, warm food to help, blankets to make them feel safe. She would carry hope and comfort and support; ice for their bruises, and help with repairs. Sonyo wasn't sure what had happened in her absence but she was here now.

With a blood-curdling scream the guard's body was torn in half- pieces scattered on either side of him. The blood rained down from above as his tendrils lowered to the ground- presenting him with the still warm heart of the Uzugakure Guardsmen. A section of his torso seemed to open up and accept the heart. A shiver went down his spine as he did so, and after a moment his head whipped over his shoulders to spy the young shinobi which had just arrived "Ah" He said in a voice that lacked either worry nor excitement "Another one. I wonder if your heart is stronger. She said there would be a lot of powerful hearts but so far, well..." Another person dead. but now along with a name there was a face. Tendrils rushed towards Koutetsu, closing the distance quickly. Suddenly, he raised his hand and the Tendrils crashed into his hand and stopped. Chakra seemed to swirl around his hand, reinforcing its durability beyond normal. Koutetsu, quickly running through a series of hand seals, reached out to grab the tendrils before they could retract. He would follow up by exhaling fire down its length. If he was successful, the fire would follow it back to its source.

He had a strong heart indeed. He couldn't wait to see how it tasted. The beast required sustenance in order to keep functioning. As the fire raced up the length of his extended arm he would just cut the excess tendrils off with a kunai before it could reach his main body. Thankfully he could regrow them pretty quickly so the loss was a non-factor to him "Your faith in the system is poorly placed" A mass of tendrils formed out of his back, eventually coalescing into an entity of their own- complete with a blue mask and all. The spirit opened its maw and out of it a great torrent of water spew forth. The area nearby was quickly flooded in 5 feet of churning muddy water.

Koutetsu scoffed at the Jiongu users remark. As water started to gush out from a strange growth, the enraged Genin ran through hand seals of his own, "Your faith in your skills are poorly placed," Koutetsu returned. The flood bearing down on his position, Koutetsu used his own creation to convert some of the water into a widespread, thick mist. As soon as the mist had taken root, Koutetsu dove under and into the ground beneath them. Making his way over to where the Jiongu user and his heart were, He leapt out with a fist charged to the brim with chakra. Punching forward, Six blasts of chakra shot towards the targets: 3 to the thing that had spewed water and 3 to the obnoxious corpse-to-be.

As the flood bore down on the boy he created some type of obscuring mist technique. Surely this was some sort of counter-attack. He wasn't gonna have it. He did a string of seals and slammed his palms down and caused a pillar to rise him up into the air by 80 feet. His spirit, meanwhile, simply formed some wings and flew up next to him. As he rose he let his second, and final, spirit out of his body- this time bearing a red mask.
While he could not see through the mist himself his water spirit could and the silent communication between them was all he needed to know when and where the boy emerged "This is boring me!'" He called out as he crossed his arms. As he did this the spirits on either side of him, flying in place, let loose a torrent of fire and water from their mouths. The beams entwined and flowed end over end as they bore down upon the boy below them

Koutetsu glared up at the ninja who had still not learned just how out of his league he was. You don't get to look down on me, Koutetsu seethed in his head even as double dragons were sent down at him. From above it would look like he had been consumed by the opposing elements, but he had timed it carefully. A plume of smoke appeared twenty feet above the pillar. If the sound of the smoke didn't give it away, the roar of rage that came from above would, "Raagh!" Koutetsu launched fist after fist towards the Kogarashi-nin, his earlier attack amplified by both his rage and his intense focus. Eighteen blasts of chakra shot downwards, six blasts towards each target on the pillar. As Koutetsu continued to fall, he would attempt to land a flying kick from above and ride the Jiongu user down to the ground.

He seemed to have pricked a nerve with this one. The boy launched into a tirade of attacks- a wicked combination but not one with the ability to put him down for good. With the boy burning all of that energy in this attack he found it prudent to conserve his own resources. The spirits flew back into his body as the attacks were launched. Instead of impacting himself the orbs merely connected with a tree stump from nearby. He reappeared a hundred or so feet away, standing on the body of water. He grimaced at the boy and was about to launch into a new attack when a devastating roar echoed throughout the area. He jerked head in that direction, concern evident on his face for the first time 'Clarant is...dead?!' The astonishment was evident on his face. After a moment he composed himself and turned back to Koutetsu "It seems you've lucked out boy. You get to keep your heart another day" Reaching into his pocket he withdrew a smoke pellet "My name is Jirou of Kogarashi- you haven't seen the last of me boy" With that he threw the bomb onto the ground and, when the smoke cleared, had vanished

Save for her lower legs, there was little noticeable detail to pick from her attire. She waited a moment for Masato to catch up and patted him on the shoulder to point out what looked like settling debris particulates far in the distance. "What do you think all that might be over there?" Judging by the direction, it was nearly right along their route to the ferry that could take them across the sea to the Land of Floods. Zhi realized now that she hadn't actually shared he Enlightening Brand much with others even though that was the whole point of her technique. Before her hand was raised from Masato's shoulder she let her chakra take form of the unique sensory-sharing sealing formula. "Gave you a present, Muscle-sempai. Now you'll be able to see, hear, feel, smell, touch and sense everything I do. Also... I'll be able to do the same for you. Just in case, 'kay?"
