The old man that hadn't seem to give a single order throughout the battle would act then as he threw something from his pocket at the pokemon. Even as it's death was assure and the present blew up ..it would hit it's mark. A single dart, and then it was over as the Espurr was consume by the explosion.
The Delibird would enjoy the delight of watching it's enemy go up in a blast of glory. It would laugh and pound the ground wildly in it's joy of the moment as it grew a bit stronger because of it.
The battle was done, and the verdict for the trainer's pokemon was death ...or at least it should have been. As the flames of the explosion died away, and in the midst of the flames would be an egg. His pokemon's death had become a new beginning as the man would call out to the boy.
"Your lost, it would seem, sonny."
The man would declare slowly.
"Do be fully aware, there is nothing wrong with surrendering, and cutting your losts. A lost can be healed at the pokemon center, but from this point on ...death is quite permanent here."
The man would tap his cane against the ground once.
"I suggest you take that egg to the pokemon center, it's hardboiled and won't hatch without the aid of the Nurse. Thus, the curse of that serum, quite useless in the field and it had another draw back. That one, you will discover at the Pokemon Center, now begone.
You will have to try again."
The old man declares as he turns and hobble away. The Delibird was giggling so hard he almost miss his trainer leaving as the pokemon would rush after them ...both seemingly to disappear into the darkness of the small room..leaving boy and egg alone.
Anytime, your pokemon's health goes -7 below it's normal hp the pokmeon dies. This mean, it can not be revived and is literally a dead pokemon. Be careful not to let that happen, and recognize when it's best to simply surrender or escape a battle otherwise it can have critical results.

Azul Lufang
Azul stepped into the battle room, her Ace standing on her shoulder, both of them looking around at the strange room. "Hello? Anyone here? Ummm... We are supposed to be here for battle help?" Azul said, stepping forward more and looking at a paper she had in her hand. She was beginning to wonder if she was in the right place.
I should have just forfeited instead of rolling that last one....
Brian could only watch in horror as Purr was consumed by the blast as the Present exploded, and he fell to his hands and knees as he realized what had just happened. His Purr, his beloved Espurr, was gone. Or at least, he thought she was. When the smoke cleared, he could clearly see a Pokemon egg sitting in the same spot Purr had been just moments before. What in the world.... he thought, not having seen the Delibird's trainer throw a dart at Purr right before the explosion. He rose and moved to pick up the egg as his opponent spoke, advising him to take the egg to the Pokemon Center and let the Nurse help hatch it. Wait, a drawback? he thought, looking at the man's back as he turned and hobbled away. What kind of drawback did he mean? The only way he would be able to find out now was to follow the instructions he'd been given, and he took the egg to the Pokemon Center to ask Nurse Joy for help, all the way chastising himself for letting the battle turn as deadly as it had.
A voice would echo in the room back, using the trainers words but with a different voice. Out of the darkness, she would appear twirling an umbrella as she looks upward at the sky ...err...ceiling.
"Looks like it going to be rainy with a bit of pain. No just kidding, I see you are some of the fresh meat served here. So, you are here to be admitted to the academy, and I am here to test your battling skills to see if you are worth the time of day."
"Not training help."
She would wave a finger as she scold the newcomer, and then rotate her shoulders as she twirl the umbrella, again.
"So, do you know what you are doing, or do I need to show you the ropes? Once again, not training help, but more ..getting you use to fighting a human instead of just pokemon."
Her reddish orange hair would bounce along as she makes the statement once more before shifting with her hands on her hips. She was now waiting for a response.

Azul Lufang
Azul smiled gently at the woman falling from... Wherever. So far this academy was nothing but strange. But, strange was interesting, and interesting was fun. "Thank you, I understand. My name is Azul and this is Ace" She petted the shiny Pokemon proudly. "I intend on proving I am well worth your time. So, it would be great if you showed me the ropes, Miss...?"
"My name is of no interest to you, so there is no point in you knowing it. Instead, a much better question should have been ....who is my partner?"
The woman would twirl her umbrellas again and this time at it's tip it would discharge a single poke ball to smash against the ground releasing the pokemon within.
"Chilly ...Chilly ...brrrr...its cold out here ...it would seem that Alpha has finally appeared."
The woman declares delightfully as the Sandshrew would stand before her. Though this one wasn't of the ground variety, but instead was one of the ice.
[So time to explain a thing or two about battling. I'll be doing this step by step as the battle proceeds.]
[Now as you have likely already see at the beginning of the battle, both participants will post the stats for their Pokemon. Akumu Academy uses a Turn Based combat system. This means that we each take turns Attacking and Defending just to be clear. So when I attack, you defend. When you attack, I defend.]
[Turn order is decided by the SPD stat. Whichever Pokemon has more SPD will take the first Attack Turn. Thusly the Pokemon with the lower SPD will take the first Defense Turn. In the event both Pokemon have the same SPD, they will BOTH Attack at the same time. This is for the First Turn only. Whichever Pokemon HITS will take their Defense Turn after and whichever Pokemon Missed will try to Attack again.]
[Aim is decided by the roll of 1D20 using the "Post Action" function. Its fairly straight forward. If you roll higher than me your Attack will hit. If you roll lower your Attack will miss.]
[Additionally please note that "Defending" refers to blocking, dodging, or otherwise attempting to make the opponent "miss". It does not involve using any of your Moves.]
[Now recently we added an additional mechanic called the "Aim Modifier". This is a static number which we will add to your Accuracy Roll when attacking. You begin with an A.M of 5. This means for example if you roll a 10 it will become 10+5 and will be a 15 during damage calculation. I'll explain Damage calculation in my next post. Any questions so far?
Let's try for round two...and hope I get better rolls this time around, lol.
Brian returned to the academy Battle Room and walked inside. This was his second try, and he was hoping it would go better than his first. He paused before entering a battle area inside the room, steeling himself for whomever he might battle this time, then pushed the door open and stepped into the room. "Anyone here?" he called. "I'm here for a rematch!" He was hoping this second battle would go better than the first, though only time would tell as the battle played out.
"That would mean you know what battling is all about right, or do you still need me to draw you a map?"
A voice would call from the darkness of the room. A girl would appear this time dressed in a short skirt with big pigtails hanging from her head. Her hair was a reddish brown color as she held a huge lollipop in one hand.
"Speak now, because, I am quite ready to get this party started."
Brian started slightly when a female voice called from the shadows, then watched as a girl appeared, wearing a short skirt with big pigtails and holding a rather large lollipop in one hand. There was something about her that made Brian want to smile, though he held it in check as he became serious. "Let's get this party started," he called. He was hoping he would be able to beat his opponent this time, and be accepted into the academy, though only time would tell how the battle would play out. "Purr, I need your help!" he said, tossing Purr's Pokeball into the air and watching as Purr materialized from the flash of light, standing in a battle stance with a fire in her eyes.
The girl would giggle as she would release her pokemon upon the scene. Though the pokemon she released looked to be no different than the poke ball she had already had in her hand as the pokemon rocks backwards a bit, before whirling to face it's opponent with two very huge eyes.
Narrowed...this was once more a case of speed, one that the Espurr would easily fail as the Voltorb would start off the battle with an attack.
"Voltorb use Tackle."
The girl would call out before licking her lollipop as her pokemon would start to spin like a wheel in place before launching itself towards it furry victim.
Voltorb lvl:2/adamant Hp: 14 Pp:16 Att: 6 Def:7 Spd: 9 Sp Att: 6 Sp Def: 7 Moves: Tackle, Charge, Signal Beam Exp to be gained: 75
Brian smiled slightly as he nodded in response to the girl's comment, then waited to see which Pokemon she would choose. To his surprise, this one was a Voltorb. This should be interesting, Brian thought, knowing the Voltorb was most likely faster than Purr, since her level had gone down from being hard-boiled. When his opponent called out an attack, Brian called his own command. "Purr, dodge!" he said, and the Espurr obeyed, both of them hoping she could avoid taking any damage by the Tackle attack.
The attack would miss as the pokemon rolls past without harming his opponent. The girl would smirk openly as the pokemon would turn around, but she didn't call what the boy might expected.
She didn't call for a retreat or a dodge, but instead would call out loudly.
"Counter-attack using Signal Beam."
The pokémon would wheel around to face his opponent again as she chuckles lightly.
"I am sure, since you didn't ask for a tutorial you know all about this. A pokemon can attack again using a counter-attack, but it comes with a huge risk. If it fails, your pokemon takes double the damage, and to use it continuously in battle was your pokemon out to the point where it can injury itself. "
"So, it's best to let your pokemon rest between attacks, but I plan to end this one quickly. I love to watch what happens after a trainer fails twice."
The girl would snicker a bit.
"I didn't fail to notice that your pokemon is a level under ...that only happens when a pokemon becomes hard-boiled. That means if you fail again ...you will be dismiss from this academy, but you won't be going home to your lovely family ...you have already seen too much."
"Nope, your ending will be a lot more tragic."
She chuckles happily as a light gather in front of her pokemon as it fires off a yellowish beam with spirals of blue and red around it. This was an attack that was meant to literally blow their opponent away.
Voltorb lvl:2/adamant Hp: 14 Pp:16 Att: 6 Def:7 Spd: 9 Sp Att: 6 Sp Def: 7 Moves: Tackle, Charge, Signal Beam Exp to be gained: 75
Counter-attack, you can attack on your defensive phase, but if your attack fails your pokemon takes double defense. A counter attack forgoes any kind of defense for a full on assault.
If done twice in succession, your pokemon takes 2 hp worth of damage that continues to become worst the more its used after that.
Brian was glad to see that the Tackle attack missed as Purr jumped to one side, and he figured she would tell the Voltorb to defend. Instead, to his surprise, the girl ordered a counter attack with Signal Beam, and he knew that Purr would take a lot of damage if that hit. He made eye contact with his Espurr, then looked back at the girl before speaking. "Don't count on it being over as quickly as ye might think," he said, a bit annoyed with how arrogant this girl seemed. "Purr, use Scratch!" Purr nodded as her paw glowed white, and she leaped toward the Voltorb, hoping to deal some damage.
The scratch would connect ....cutting three deep lines into the pokemon's face. How the Espurr had managed to cross the space so quickly while avoiding the signal beam was a mystery ...especially with just a leap, but the attack would hit home.
The pokémon so surprised that it would literally clamp down on it's own attack ...the explosion coming from within combine with the damage from without.
The pokemon fainted ...it was a one hit ..K.O.
The girl would literally pout at that moment.
"I should haven't rush into that one ....stupid."
She would declare as she returned her pokemon to her poke ball. Her arms crossed as she looked away with an annoyed expression on her face.
"Fine, you pass...head to the Pokelot to get you a new home away from home, or go and register yourself with the academy databases. Either way, get out of here."
She growled.
Obviously, she was not the gracious loser.
Voltorb lvl:2/adamant Hp: -2/14 Pp:16 Att: 6 Def:7 Spd: 9 Sp Att: 6 Sp Def: 7 Moves: Tackle, Charge, Signal Beam Exp to be gained: 75
Espurr levels up (Add the information below to your registration)
Brian sighed softly with relief as Purr managed to evade the Signal Beam and land a clean hit on the Voltorb, which in turn knocked out said Pokemon. This was quite a surprise, after their crushing defeat the first time around. But it was welcome, all the same. Purr leaped into his arms with a happy "Espurr Purr!" and he spun her around in a circle once before looking at his opponent, who had spoken, telling him to go to the Pokelot or go register at the academy. The look on her face told him she didn't like losing, though nobody did. "Thank ye for a good battle," he said, as he bowed slightly before returning Purr and leaving the Battle Room.
