That's devotion, for you... ^-^ Fox, people like you make me continue to have faith in literature and humanity... But yes... I also had Christine in there because for a woman of her time she was very strong willed and independant. And Erik... well he went on the list along with Edward Scissorhands and the Beast.

PS I replied to that person: I'm sorry but you are very ignorant. I adore Erik, Raoul, and Christine. I love all the characters but I fully support Gaston Leroux's words and story. R/C is canon, and I adore Erik because he's a cool character but Christine was clearly in love with Raoul. Don't be so ignorant. E/C is some phan's dream. Why would Christine have tried to kill herself at the prospect of marrying him if she loved him?

I have a longer, more thought out response in my journal which I will send the crazy one if she replies... ugh my head hurts... I was just reciting Erik's monologue on monologuearchive.com I recorded it and now my head hurts... I have a thread on this in the Opera's Stage... Raoul has a monologue on the site too which I'm gonna do later.

I think that the eyes were just the cat. I mean, Erik does like to play with the minds of his prey and Raoul has to be one of his biggest targets since he is his rival. After hearing the stories Raoul's mind starts to wonder. He was becoming paranoid too so maybe Erik had nothing to do with it, which is what I think. It was just the cat combined with Raoul's insane jealousy of Erik.

I suppose but there was a lot of tension between him. Just the thought of there being another possible man drove him a bit crazy.

Again, not at that point... The balcony scene was after Apollo's Lyre, when Raoul knew that Christine loved him. The tension on Raoul's part then was because he was afraid Erik had overheard them and would do something drastic to stop Christine from leaving with him.
