Hang in thereHmm, that was an interesting question. Was she thinking of others? No... not really. "I.. kind of go into a blank moment of... wow that looks fun." She sighed. "So I guess the answer is no.. I don't." Fun, fun.. "I like fighting, that is fun, and I just kind of do what comes to me. I don't make a lot of plans in advance. When it comes to a mission where there is something to do, I can focus on that. But when things stop happening, I just kind of... you know.. just drift." Yeah.. that was the issue. "I mean in Atlantis nothing was happening.. just Melvin talking to the mermaid, so I guess I just kind of faded into boredom." She chewed her lower lip and gave a slight shake to her head. "I guess that is bad. No focus really when there is no action. I drift." Kim sighed a little. "I..is there something that can be done about that? I don't want to put people in danger, and I really didn't think I was. Who would think that random things can do that?"

Joy found that she liked the island. Not necessarily the whole lack of everything modern technology offered but in general, the sun, the sand, the way everyone looked far more attractive than normal, yeah. The beach did weird things to a person.
And in Joy's case, "I kinda don't think I wanna go back." she said, trying to sound casual about the admission.

TiredThe statement struck home, slipping past all the careful defenses Jordan had built up, and it hurt immensely. It was good advice and kindly meant, but it had hit a painful spot. He took a small, strangled breath and rested his forehead on his knee, struggling with a wash of complex emotions. He was grateful for the silence. "Thanks," he said eventually, and sat quiet for a little longer before he got up to go.

"Yeah?" Dawson kept to the shade despite being well tanned at this point, chipping away at the coconut with his runic dagger. It couldn't project barriers, but it remained at least sharp enough to entertain him. "How's that?"

Hang in thereKim cursed herself in her head but decided that there was nothing she could do about it. "I.. I will tell you but, you promise not to tell anyone else?" It was hard enough to admit things like this, though she knew she would have to, but if it got spread around too much.... "Only a few people know what an idiot I have been.. and.. I really don't think I could take it if.. if EVERYONE hates me. I need to tell Allan, and.. fix it but.. please don't tell anyone."

"Isn't this place just, iunno, a lot nicer than Deus?" Joy continued on conversationally, making no attempt to step into the shade, uncaring that she, too, was tanned to hell and back.

"Mm. Quieter," Dawson offered. "Slower. You know what yer gettin' every day." There was a hollow-eyed sound in his voice, despite his attempts at pleasantry. "S'a good break. But I got people back home I need to get back to."

Hang in thereKim took a deep breath and half closed her eyes. "Okay I will, um try to be a bit brief. The whole thing is messed up. Melvin took a group of us on a mission to deal with something that had the mermaids all worked up. We dealt with it, and it took us to a kind of underwater door. Inside was Atlantis. When we were there some of us broke off, but I followed along. I saw a pretty fish and tried to pet it, and it zapped me pretty bad. My fault. It was on the way back out though that I made a huge stupid mistake. I saw a glowing pyramid. I... went to where it was and took it." She grimaced as she admitted it. "Stupid me, I actually removed it from Atlantis. It messed me up bad when I was in deus. Water was never the right temperature, It burned a bit, among other things. Then, like a dummy I went and called Melvin for help, but before he could get to me, I ended up going to the um, that big tree. The legacy Melvin said, anyway... I offered it to the tree. I was so sleep deprived, tired and confused. I think it took the artifact. I think that is why this all happened. It was my fault." There she had told someone other than Melvin. Now he knew her darkest secret. "I screwed up bad and I know I need to fix it. I know it was my fault and I know that is why people hate me. They all know I took the artifact... but not the rest. Melvin said I may have dropped it on the way to the Legacy tree, and maybe I did but.. I think it was worse." She panted a bit and hugged her knees. "See, I am a mess.. I may have doomed us all."

Joy's initial response was with a quirk of her brow "Nah, it's not the whole quiet I like. The excitement of missions I do miss a bit." There was no eye contact now, the cheerful smile on her face briefly turning into a rueful smirk, her toes digging into the sand, "You got someone to go back to? That must be nice."
There was a hint of jealousy there but not resentment. She couldn't blame Dawson for wanting that. Hell, if she had been in the same situation, she would have tried to get back to the island on day one.
