Mahmud loved to build. Like for serious. Go and ask any other troll who should build a building for them, and they would send them right straight to Mahmud. So when he heard building shelters was a lesson plan that was available? He was down. So very, very down.
Admittedly though, the teacher's style was hard to grasp and follow. They talked fast, gave very little breaks, and practically shoved information down his throat. It was all very exhausting. Finally though, the fun part was about to begin!
Tasked with making a shelter, in his enthusiasm Mahmud picked making one for a Rainforest. After all, it wouldn't be fair of him to make one for a desert, right? That was like, basically what his house is! So all he had to do was think hard about what a rainforest would entail, and that would be that.

Except it wasn't easy. And it wasn't coming naturally. Mahmud got a few of the basic ideas down; a sturdy roof component, for one, was important. However, no matter how hard he tried he just couldn't get the waterproofing right, and it was starting to frustrate him.
Tinkering with the walls, Mahmud found that it couldn't keep water out at all. It was too uneven, there were too many places for water to get in... and on top of that, he realized far too late that he didn't choose something to make the floor. What the hell was the purpose of doing a structure to withstand the rains if the ground would get soaked?
Clearly he was frustrated, because Mahmud started to itch at his arms. What should he do... what should he do?!

Mahmud couldn't look up. Couldn't bear to look up. In the end, he had given up what he had started in order to build something he knew in and out. Truth be told, there wasn't enough time to make this structure its very best. But it was decent for desert weather. He should know. He only built stuff for his home like, seven thousand times.
Seven thousand times... What kind of builder was he if he couldn't do something outside his comfort zone.
As Rouxez walked past he felt the urge to cry again... but instead he called out to them in a hoarse voice. "I'm coming back tomorrow!" With that he turned his head to face his teacher. "And I WILL do better than this. I promise." He couldn't let this be the end. There was no way he'd allow himself to be beaten at his own game.

Psykgi had wanted to at least take a look at the 'lightseekers' booth, whatever it was. After all, the Space crew was there and they seemed to be teaching something or other. Ma'am had decided that tonight was the night they went to investigate.
Most of the booth was some sort of separatist propaganda or whatever, none of Psykgi's business, but some of the booth had to do with education. And why not? Ma'am certainly wanted her to learn something. After all, the swarm explained, she should learn how to survive anywhere.
Psykgi was feeling more congenial towards her lusus at this point, so she decided to give it a try. She listened to the lecture, and went to building her structure...
Psykgi frowned at her construction. She'd done her best with it, but apparently that wasn't good enough. Not only did the adult say so, but her lusus agreed. Over and over again. It was very annoying.
"I'll be sure to come back and try again." she said, feeling, almost, more frazzled than before as Ma'am nagged in her ear...
Azrael didn't have anything particularly in mind when he started building his shelter, but it was something that should be water resilient and definitely air tight. But as Azrael kept building the shelter it became more and more like some sort of submarine. The last thing that he added was some sort of filtration system for turning carbon dioxide into oxygen. He stood back and examined his entire shelter and put his hands on his hips. "I do wonder when I would need this, practically," he murmured to himself

Chiara wasn't a fan of any of these NPCs, and thats nagging patronizing clods, if you felt the need to ask. But they had information, so she was going to do their stupid tasks, grudgingly. She was still annoyed that they seemed to refuse to give her any sort of closure on the whole space tower shebang. The captain was her favorite of the NPCs, and the one running the field study, so the blueblood decided to give it a try. "So, last we met it was in rather precarious circumstances, but you never really gave us volunteers any closure. What was the enemy? Or at least, was there a threat from space, or someone on planet?" She rolled her eyes. Getting this info could do a lot of good! First of all she would tell that sad sack of greenblood Nucle. The guy was just depressed! And to boot she could hold it over that tealblood Hemera's head. Maybe show her she couldn't be a control freak all the time, that she had to get help sometimes.... for a cost. Also it would be nice to have actually gotten something from an event that ruined her most important relationship.
