Mark processed what Mimsy had said and then- "Wait, other than Dwight, did we lose anyone else?" The key word there was probably anyone else he knew. "Yeah just keep yourself hydrated with the water bottles or something," the Death assistant apparently was not very good at understanding Sahara 101 survival either.

Opening the laptop, Zeke brought the thing back to life, though was stopped from getting far into it when a lock screen popped up at the first keystroke. "It boots, but you need a passcode to get into it. "He looked for other indicators of who the laptop might have belonged to on the thing itself. Any stickers or labels. He also checked to see if there was a screen name attached to the lock screen.

"Thanks Mimsy! I will and you too!" She said that with the sweetest voice, it was always the Life huntress who was actually helpful. Between Mark's meaningless conversations with other hunters. When she was about to yell and chided the new temporarily Death lead, someone announced they had found caves. Even she disliked Elio, she had thanked him in heart that he gave them a clue finally. Searching a person in the desert was like finding a nail in the sea. A hope was a hope, and that gave her motivations to push onwards. The bugs were a good sign as the Famine horsemen had a connection with them. She then turned to give Joy what she knew about the Famine horsemen. "That's the war clan, famine clan looks like people living in arid regions. They love to use long and wide fabrics to wrap themselves, part of their bodies might be skeletons and bugs like moths were often found near them." Things got unsettling when she located a perfect white skull, which she knew isn't the natural bone color. Quote: 9. You find a perfectly bleached human skull, but it has been there for quite a while. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The tall hunter stop fiddling with the laptop, put it into his bag and continued to walk around hoping to get something to block the sand hurting his eyes. < Sorry Ace, my shield doesn't shield you from physical attacks.> It's fine, Cat. One of his girlfriends who was a loyal gamer told him that newbie had so-called newbie luck. It was mainly to do with the rare loot drop or something. Gradually, he didn't notice he walked too far away and lost the rest of his teammates. Didn't mind to get himself dirty, he slid down sand dunes and reached an open space, quiet and distant. There were several hunters gathered in front of it. " Er - I'm at the cave and people as well. Anyone get some goggles to share? Five at least. Also, I guess we need more helpers, there are many insects at its entrance. Like the scene in The Mummy, if you know what I mean. Shall we clean the bugs?" < It's disgusting, do we have to go inside?> He couldn't answer that, he was merely a trainee. The newbie luck really worked but Ace hoped it could guard his survival as well. Quote: 8. You find what seems like the entrance to a cave. It requires a bit of digging and further investigation. What could be inside? (quote Zoobey) Steal No u! (can't send her text here though, she had to find him sweatdrop ) xZoobey Can they try to clear the path?

Despite living in mostly shorts and tanks tops the heat of the desert was was a new feeling as Harper stepped out of the portal and into the blazing sun. Immediately there was some regret in leaving the familiar cold of snow for something beyond the realm of tropical fun. Pulling down her goggles she began trudging her way through the sand round the abandoned camp kicking over things that looked as if the may have contained something at some point. After twenty or so minutes she stubbed her foot on something hard, moving the dirt and sand away She found a few unopened bottles of water in a box. Dusting them off she stuffed them into her bag before heading off to find where Liam went.

BORING!! Kimberly pushed her way through things and stormed toward where she had last seen Ace hanging out. She then looked around, her teeth grit even as Chintliss kept ranting at her. Finally, though it made her look insane she yelled out. "Oh for the love of... SHUT THE F*** UP ALREADY!" Yeah that would get attention. She kicked hard at a wall then started walking again. "Ace where the hell are you? You made me come to this hell hole.. amuse me!" Yeah kind sensible.. worth loving.. that was Kim all over. Her anger made her eyes sparkle a bit more and she kept looking around as if wanting to kill something. More hunter coats.. so she had found a phone and coats and... She sneered a bit and kept walking, adventually walking right toward Ace and while she ranted right into him. "This place is worse than... for the love of.. bugs.. they so better not eat my legs.. not like those last famine bugs I met... I..." Pause.. "Ace, this place sucks worse than the hell hole Otto took us to.. I found a bloody phone though, image sucks.. need a new coat, got some of those too." Meegane >.> Hope he got the last message she sent from her last trip away.. The meat one.. biggrin

She was not supposed to be here.
She was not supposed to be here.
The world was slowly unraveling around Gale, and it was bad enough that he'd lost Leslie. Forever entombed in that pod of hers, he knew she would never wake again - but this was different. This was a mistake, this could not be real, this could not be what was right in front of him -
- but she was glaring at him, and she was real.
Gale's expression was stony as Tempest snatched one of the goggles from his box, his eyes boring holes into her.
"You're not - how are you a hunter?" he asked, and he hadn't meant to ask it so angrily, but it came out angry anyway. A flush of shame that he couldn't control spread across his cheeks, Jinhai making a soft sound of reassurance inside of his head.
"No, I'm not dead," he said, after a moment, "I never was. I've been here for the last few years. And the last person I expected to see here was my little sister."

Yup, Cress always got shoved into this s**t last minute.
Still feeling slightly disorientated after the trans-dimensional jump, he looked around the base warily. It looked like a ******** shitshow. Everything was just sand, sand, sand. Cress had not been to this particular base before--in fact, this was his first mission cause he was a ******** lazy bum and had not been caught up on the going-ons of Deus in forever. Man was this awkward. Cress couldn't spot a single familiar face in the crowd of other hunters joining the search-and-rescue. Whoop. He dimly regretted his decision to forego his reading of theoretical physics to join in on this 'fun'.
Crap. It could be a hell lot more awkward. He put his headset on and started heading in a random direction--making sure that he was at least within the sight of some other hunter. Before long, he found some hunter coats buried beneath some sand. He paused a bit and shrugged. They looked just forgotten, probably not important enough to report to the weird division head about.

"Sup." He said to the woman, holding the box of water before moving over to Jason. "Hey, think we an like, make a backpack out of those coats to hold these. I don't want to be holding a box all day." He said, not sure if he should just leave the supplies here or take them with him.
"You should take one though." Since Jason had been coughing before.
Over the headseat, he heard the call that they found a cave. "Didn't people get eaten by bugs in that movie?" He said over the headset.
Quote: Just chatting on headseat.

"Which movie," Mark asked back, "like Indiana Jones? Cuz bro, there were way more things happening in that movie than just being eaten by bugs, I mean that face melting part, can you even like, imagine that?"

Quote: 3. You find a box of water bottles, unused. Maybe they'll come in use later? Sy got out of the Cove and noticed no sign of Mimi. Not that he had expected her to wait or anything. He just shrugged and put a hand in his pocket. He took out the new phone that he got and noticed that there were messages to check. Opening them up he read that Caelius wanted them to meet up at 4 at the lighthouse, and seeing that it was near 5pm.. "Oh s**t, i'm late!" The boy just ran as fast as he could and when he got to the meeting place, he saw nobody. Just a weak opened portal... "Did they all go through this?" < Why don't you step through and find out? > He didn't hesitate and jumped through it. He landed...in the sand? The heat overwhelmed him since the sun was bright and hot. He felt sweat trickle down his face as he noticed a tent nearby. Thank god he had put on a hat. The shade is definitely his friend right now. In front of him, and the tent, however, laid a wooden box in the sand. Beside it, a few leftover headsets. Most didn't work but he found one that had people talking through it. Holding onto a functioning one, he put it on, and listened. ...Famine... Cave... Lap top... Water bottles... Bugs... None of it made feck all sense to him. He turned on his end of the headset ready to ask where everyone was. However, he couldn't help but open up the wooden box beside the tent. Water bottles, unopened too. He took one and twisted the lid open. The water was warm but can still do its job. He took a tiny sip and noticed someone walk away in the near distance. Or was that just a mirage? "Hey. HEY! WAIT UP!" he shouted out loud to the shadow in the distance. He didn't have time to carry the box of water with him and shoved one bottle in each of his pockets and carried one along. < Who did you see Master Sy? > "I don't know, but they went that way." Quote: Sy forgot that he left the thing on and shouted through it. sorry to anyone that heard him scream at the top of his lungs followed by shuffling of clothing! XD

"Are you referring to The Mummy? The beetles in that movie were fictional, and based on scarab beetles," Lin said over the headset. "Scarabs are also known as dung beetles, and they do not prey on humans as depicted in that movie. They're not dangerous unless you're a ball of dung." She paused. "These do not appear to be scarabs."She moved a little further into the cave, keeping an eye on the insects. They didn't seem to be moving towards the humans. "It looks like there's a lot of space in here, but it's very dark."Quote: Some chatter over the headsets

"Oh good. Don't want to be messin with dat. And yeah, I can imagine that. Like putting your face to a car exhaust. I don't think we are checking out The Ark here. Just your bro." He hoped.
Looking around, he think he spotted the people collecting to what he hoped was the cave. "Looking like it's over there."

"Hey Kimberly, you found me, good job." The Sun trainee shone a grin at his friend. "I think we've located one of the Famine's hideouts." He replied with an excitement in his tone. "Um, just wrap every single part of yourself up, I guess. It's even dangerous than last time. We've got Otto last time but we've less than ten here right now. Just be careful." Since his friend looked less cheerful, he gave her a hug to make things better. He'd introduced her to Jason and Jason's friend (who is Kai), but they were not there yet. " Not Indiana Jones, though it's a good series. Yup, the movie The Mummy indeed." He gave a glance to Lin before he continued. " And no, I'm not referring whether they eat flesh or not, but the number of them. Anyway, the bugs from last Sahara mission we have - they did bite us."

OOC FEEL FREE TO JOIN IN JUST ROLL A ROOM (SEE BELOW) AND THEN READ THE ROOM PROMPT ON PAGE 10 AND RP ACCORDINGLY "Okay, anyone with spare goggles, can we have them by the cave entrance? I've marked it on your Spectre watch, or you could you know, just follow the mass of people I see huddled over there."
It was at least easy for anyone not even close to the cave to spot it as it was the only unusual landmark on the map other than the dilapidated tent. The inside hissed, covered entirely in strange, oversized scarab beetles and scorpions that didn't seem indigenous to any part of the actual Sahara.
"There's some sort of weird signal," Mark said, probably having traced those who had a Spectre watch, "there should be something on the left-ish of where Gretchen is?"
The Death Assistant wasn't wrong: there was indeed a corridor nearly hidden at the far end that lead to a single flight of stairs. The bad news was the extremely reduced lack of visibility. OOC THE FAMINE CAVESThe corridors are incredibly steep and wind all directions. Your character may end up in a random place if they are not following anyone else closely. If your character is ALONE, have them roll 1d4 to see where they end. If they are with someone else, just follow their 1d4 cue to see where they are. If your character has finished searching they can roll again to visit another room. Feel free to look around and report any observings to each other/ anyone else in the room by posting your room in BOLD AT THE TOP. If you wish to talk to Mark/ HAVE YOUR CHARACTER EXAMINE ANYTHING/ post it in BOLD RED and quote Zoobey, as per usual. Only by examining stuff may you get to bottom of this! gaia_crown [ ROLL A 1: PRISON ROOM ]- There is a corridor that has ten identical, dilapidated rooms. The lighting is extremely dim, only illuminated by a few sickly glowworms hanging from the ceiling. Each room has a prisoner inside, shacked within, they seem to be barely conscious. All the doors are closed. gaia_crown [ ROLL A 2: ORCHARD ] On a floor deeper than the prison room it the caves start to turn into a dark, motley green that steadily grows brighter and brighter. It is a huge, dug out area filled thick moss, strange sharp grass and unusual trees all directions. There is some sort of fruit spawning from the trees that look more like organs than actual fruit. The trees seem to pulsate with a life of their own. In the center is a tree larger than usual that seems to have recently been nurtured, flowering sickly green flowers. gaia_crown [ ROLL a 3: THE TUNNELS] The stairs seem to never end, the only intersections in between large dark rooms that are nearly unidentifiable. They are tiny, and stepping into them yields hundreds, thousands of insects that crawl all directions. The insects glow in the dark, leaving a trail into deeper tunnels. Following them leads into a maze-like network that anyone can easily get lost in. There is a horrific smell coming from deep within the maze and then a strange clicking noise. All your senses tell you not to go further, and you faintly hear someone saying "hello" in the distance over and over. gaia_crown [ ROLL a 4: THE DISSECTION ROOM ] It is almost a secret staircase that seems to allow entry for no specific reason at all. The room is lit with hundreds of green glowing moths gathering around the lanterns hanging precariously from the cavern top. The smell here is putrefying; there are human bodies everywhere, many in various stages of decay. Some have their pieces labeled, such as hands, or heads, while others have their organs stowed away in jars. Many of the organs are still fresh, some of the limbs are still moving, despite not being attached to anything.
