Chel had taken some time to step out, go buy herself some starbucks and come back.
She wiggled a second cup of whatever the ******** they'd put in there in front of his sighing face. She didn't say anything, just sipped from her straw and made her offering.

Jack blinked hard and then glanced between the cup and Chel. "What about go away didn't you understand?" he asked grouchily before taking her offering and giving it an appraising sniff. "You always get off eavesdropping on people?"

She wordlessly shrugged and reached up to mess up his hair again. It didn't look right all tucked back. She preferred the mess against a pillow or the nervous clutter but not neat and kept.
"Oh yeah. Soaked shorts over here," she told him with a sideways grin. "You okay?"

Scowling, he attempted to at least somewhat fix his hair again. "I'm fine." At least the Starbucks was decent. "Ready to just leave already, but there's..." He briefly pulled his phone out and sighed. "Thirty more minutes and then I'm out."

"Sucks man," she agreed. "Least you got yer buddy Chel." Then she let out a laugh, clearly considering it a depreciative joke.
She went back to looking at his art, sighing a little before she took another loud sip of her drink. Her eyes were wide with questions she didn't dare ask because she was sure he had gotten the ringer from his mom. What was Jal ja-yo? Who was the guy? Was his mom a b***h or were they just like that?
"Can I have one?" she asked quietly. Not flippantly or with a sexual comment as before, but with a quiet sort of reverence.

Jack considered her for a moment, still inwardly baffled by this grain of genuine interest that had been threaded in her words since she got there. "Which one?" he asked afterwards, sipping his Starbucks.

"None of them are my favorite," he admitted as he looked to one of the nearest ones, a series of photos involving a tree growing and decaying over the seasons. "Doing it for an assignment is different than doing it for pleasure. So, don't matter to me."

Chel closed her eyes and stuck out a finger, spun a few times and then pointed in a random direction.
Which landed her on a small piece of chain fence against a field with a small daisy in the center.
Her eyes lit up and her mouth opened in an O, excited by the one she'd landed on (she would have had the same reaction regardless). "This one it is!"

"Okay. It's not going to come with that frame, though," Jack reminded her, as though it was very important to. "And I expect it to be treated right. Don't, like, put it in a shitty corner of the house or something."
He didn't know why he was still talking. It shouldn't have been a big deal.

Chel's grin faltered for a moment.
"Oh ... maybe y'should hang on to it. I don't ... have a place t'put it." She had just wanted it and asked for it. There hadn't been anything more complicated than that. "Don't wanna bust it up or nothin'."

He let it trail away and shrugged instead. "It's not the original or anything; I still have the digital copy on my laptop. So if you 'bust it up or nothin'', I can just give you another copy."

And her face was back to her sunshine smile. She reached up for his collar and pulled him down for a kiss on the cheek; the same reckless one she'd given Shun.
"Infinite picture," she said, letting go of his neck to snap back up. "That's so COOL!" She gave his side a clap and added, "You should ********' sign it and s**t too! That'd be so ********' boss."

The sudden closeness had his shoulders stiffening up before he was aware of what had happened. Chel's smile lit up like it had flash on.
"Yeah, I could do that," Jack said slowly as his shoulders dropped, unsure of how to react other than blink hard and awkwardly stand there. "On the back. Want a particular message? 'To that nosey Tennessee hick'."

"You write what you want. S'gotta be from you, not me." Of course it was still up on the wall so he had plenty of time to think about it.
"Should I ask Di if she wants one? Oh and I bet Shun'd want somethin' for his new office..." She was already planning to take the collection because clearly it needed to be shared.
