Maylis whined softly under her breath. She really hated being the center of attention. She just wanted to get this part over with. "S-some species of plants can grow really fast, o-over three feet a day," she said quietly. Her favorite plant.... "I...I like roses best....they c-come in so many different colors and types..." And with that, she felt she was done and sat back down, huddling in her seat.

Tobias fidgeted in his chair and chewed on his fingers nervously. "Plants grow roots, and some roots are very very long so they can get lots of the good stuff from the ground. Uhm...I like plants that eat bugs. Not just the snappy snappy ones, but....uhm.....the ones that look like drinks. Like cups? Uhm....pitchers?" He fidgeted again. "I think...?"

Seray looked at the worksheet in front of him, he understood why science was important but this wasn't his favorite part, he had never been a big fan of biology and quickly filled out the worksheet and hastily turned it in, he wasn't one hundred percent sure that he'd done everything right but he hopped it would be enough to pass this class.

Jaden stood up shyly when it was his turn to be called upon, tucking his wings in close to his body. "You can plant certain things to help gardens do better," he said in a soft voice. "Some plants make bugs go away, and even small animals that might try to eat your garden. And some plants help each other grow if they're planted together." He wasn't really sure how all that worked since the gardening book he'd been flipping through hadn't been too specific, but it had been fascinating to him nonetheless. "I like lots of plants, but chocolate mint is pretty cool," he said after a moment of contemplation. "It smells kinda like minty chocolate, and even tastes a little like it too." With that he'd gratefully sat down, glad he was no longer in the spotlight.

Conan was actually quite fond of Astronomy as a subject, as such he didn't really have much of a problem listening to the substitute go on about the different classification for stars. When he was handed his worksheet he was able to fill out the blanks rather easily. It helped that he had made up a little tune in his head to keep them in order!

Ella hated these assignments. What good came out of her embarrassing herself in-front of her entire class? There was absolutely no point in her presenting, as each time she had Ella only managed to stammer a few acceptable sentences before collapsing into a puddle of shame. Her turn was quickly coming, and Ella had tried to imagine several scenario's to get out of the terrible fate she was about to face. Excuse herself to the bathroom? Ask to see the nurse? Slip away under her desk and hope no one saw her? All those actions required attention, too! She couldn't just leave a note on the teacher's desk and flee unseen! She'd probably get detention, actu-
Oh. Ella froze as she realized it was her turn. She darted into an upright position, knocking her chair over in her haste. A teal color touched her cheeks as the hybrid practically illuminated in shame. Oh Nine, oh Nine, now look what she'd done!
"I-I like that plants u-use photosynthesis." She stammered, carefully sounding out the last word as if her life depended on it. "I-It reminds me o-of that Above race.... F-Fey? And my favorite p-plant is lavender, c-cuz it reminds me of my mom. Lyra. Lyra is my mom. She's my mom." Her nerves won her over as she tripped over her last words, frantically fixing her chair and slamming into it, tail rolling into her lap. Oh Nine, don't look at her.... don't look at her..... don't look at her....

River had been waiting patiently, fingers flipping through her textbook as she tried to refrain from eying the strange hybrid who had practically thrown her chair with her. When it became her turn the Litch stood swiftly, setting her chair aside as to avoid the hybrid's earlier fate.
"My favorite plant is hemlock, which looks quite deceiving when one comes across it." Her tongue clicked thoughtfully as she flipped her book to a certain page, lifting it and tapping her nail against the picture of hemlock. "They are incredibly fatal to consume, but resemble carrots in appearance. As a result, they are consumed without thought frequently." She set the book down, rolling a strand of hair around her finger absently.
"Some plants also can help others grow better by positioning them nearby one another. This is especially true when you place a plant that wards off or eats bugs near a plant highly susceptible to bug damage." Was she using all the big words she had studied correctly? The studious little Litch nodded politely before settling into her seat, returning to her textbook.

Thian didn't like grubby freshlings, even if he technically was one himself. He didn't like sitting in a circle and sharing his feelings, and he kind of hated flowers. They made him sneeze. Other plants were okay, he supposed. But his favorite? There were so many to choose from! How was he supposed to know?
"There are some plants that don't even need dirt," he began after taking some time to think about things. "They take water and vitamins from the air and that's it." The demon swallowed. "And I like ivy. I like it because it wraps around stuff so slow that you don't even notice. One day you wake up and it's just there. Around a chair or a stick or anything. It's cool." Thian folded his hands on the desk in front of him and went silent after that, trusting the class to move on.

Esrael really liked science, he thought that it was really fascinating how everything worked. This lesson however, for some reason the Fallen just couldn't wrap his head around the concept of Mitosis. It was just so weird to think about the cells inside someone's body joining and splitting like that. Something just seemed really strange about it all.
The substitute teacher handed him his work sheet and all the color drained out of his face. This was not good, not even a little bit. What if he got this wrong? What if he got a bad grade? Esrael thought he was pretty smart, but Mitosis was the ultimate champion! He read the words in the books over and over and over again, but it was still just as confusing to him.
He read over the information one last time before audibly exhaling. Well, getting some kind of grade was better that not getting any kind of grade at all. He started to fill out the worksheet carefully, making sure to check over everything and reread things when he was confused.

Science for Citali, was another one of her not so well liked subjects. Everyone assumed that just because she liked to read, that she would like all the subjects in school, but that just simply was not the case at all. Science just was not her forte and she struggled from time to time with it. She hoped that today's assignment would be easy, especially since they had a substitute teacher. Yet, when the worksheet was placed upon the top of her desk she couldn't help but groan slightly, and then quickly hid her face with her hand once she realized someone else might have heard the groan.
Mitosis? What was this? Could she remember what all these phases did? Metaphase? Telophase? What in the world did each thing do? Citali stared long and hard at the worksheet, and finally giving a resigned sigh, she grabbed her purple pen and made her attempt on the worksheet, feeling flustered the whole time.
Please just let me get a passing grade on this assignment. She thought, feeling hopeless as deep down she knew she'd fail on this particular worksheet.

Oh, no.
Jericho was not good at science. He'd struggled to teach himself how to be good at math, but science. Science was not something he'd ever gotten the grasp of. He stared wide-eyed at the teacher as they taught the lesson, struggling to comprehend what they were talking about. Once it came time to fill out the worksheet, he found himself scouring the textbook for the answers, and desperately hoped he'd gotten them right.
At the end, he neatly wrote his name at the top, and then got up to pass the assignment in. At least some of the others had finished before him...

Plants weren't really Vederat's thing, but if their teacher wanted him to talk about his favorite plants and his favorite facts about plants...well, he could do that. "My favorite fact about plants is that they produce fruit. There's lots of different types of fruit, and most of them are sweet. And they're all healthy, too! There's not a lot of things that are healthy and sweet at the same time, but those are some of them." As for the other thing... "Um, my favorite plant is grapes. Grapes are a fruit, and they're also really sweet, but I also like the vines they grow on. They look like crazy trees, and also when they grow on arbors, they make lots of shade, and I really like that." Satisfied, he sat back in his seat.

O-oh! Plants! Um...okay, she could do this... "Um," Lillian said quietly, "m-my favorite plant is kelp. It, um, it grows in the ocean, and it's really tall. It's one of those plants that Maylis mentioned, where it grows really fast, like, a few feet a day? Um. I'm not surprised if any of you haven't heard of it." She shuffled her feet under her desk, embarrassed. "And, um, my favorite fact about plants is that they grow in the ocean. But, um, they can't grow too deep, because if they grow too deep, then there's no sunlight for them, because there's no sunlight down there." There. That, um, worked, right?

Honestly, Yaviss couldn't make heads nor tails of today's lesson. It just seemed so...abstract. And pointless. Science wasn't Yaviss's strong point in the first place, so he couldn't really see how any of this would be useful. Why did it matter that all the tiny bits of his body--because oh yeah, apparently there were tiny bits of his body--divided and reproduced? So what? Yaviss didn't care. It was all just...gah.
Nonetheless, he wanted to do well in school. He took notes and carefully went through the work sheet. He kept his fingers crossed under his desk...maybe that would help him get it?

Well, the study of the stars was certainly...interesting, she was sure. Wyrdda honestly hadn't thought about it before, but the more she thought about it, the more she decided that the stars were a worthy thing to study. She liked the night time. And the stars were certainly beautiful.
The idea of stars having lifespans was certainly...well, she didn't want to overuse the word "interesting," but yes, actually, it was. However, the idea of stars coming in types? That she didn't like. Oh well. She didn't have to like science class. She just had to pass it. She did the assignment and turned it in.
