"Stocks of what? Like wood?" What on earth was a "stock?" He'd never heard of that before... It must be boring if Vaden was just going to sum it up with it being complicated. He didn't really envy him having to do something boring like that. Though really, did he actually have to?
He listened to his next little rant, frown deepening as he went on. So then what was the point of the first talk? Wasn't that part of practicing to get better...? He looked down to Rubelite's box again. "I guess." He shrugged, not really wanting to continue this line of conversation. The seed was sewn, he'd be mulling it over for hours.
"Are you gonna stay long after we get Rubelite's cage set up?"

"Like parts of a business. I don't expect you to really get it right now." he said with a very small smile.
He wasn't surprised Gany didn't get it. It was a concept that was way over a kids understanding and that of some adults too. He figured he still wanted to argue the practice angle, which would lead him back to pointing out that if you just didn't have the talent necessary, even if you practiced, all you were doing was frustrating yourself and making yourself feel useless because you couldn't do what you thought you should be able to do. Well, at least he'd think about it, and possibly come to a conclusion that would help him bring something new to the conversation.
"I can if you want." he said. "I still have to show you a picture of a rubelite after all."

Physical parts....? No, it had to be pretend parts or something. Adults were weird. Pretend was supposed to be "kid stuff" but there seemed to be an awful lot about the grown-up world that was make believe.
"I would like that." He nodded, pleased that the subject was finally changing for real. Once they neared the freshling dorms, he sped up a little, wanting to get Rubelite settled in sooner rather than later. "I forgot about that... But I still want to see it." He nodded, then adjusted Rubelite's box to open up his dorm room... Ah good, neither of them were home.

He helped Gany with the door and stopped for a moment to sign Gany back in before following him back upstairs and helping him with the door. Neither of his roommates were in, which he supposed made Gany happy. He went over to the freshlings desk and set the box that contained the cage on it and set the bag of goodies on the floor.
He took a few moments to put it together then opened the bag of bedding and poured it in the bottom getting a nice even layer. He picked up the water bottle and handed it to Gany. "Go fill this up, while i get the rest finished. Water from the bathroom will be fine, not too cold, not too hot."
He then got out the little dome and set it in the cage and set the food dish in the corner. He'd let Gany fill it when he got back.

He nodded, gently setting Rubelite's box on his bed since it was close to the desk. He figured that would be fine, she'd be on something stable and out of the way while Vaden set the cage up. He turned to take the bottle from him, nodding before he trotted off to the bathroom to fill it up. He returned a few minutes later, bottle filled, lid screwed on tight. "Okay, it's full." He blinked at the progress, very interested in how it was coming along.

Vaden nodded and took the bottle from him and then had him stand on the chair to his desk and showed him how to get it to sit properly in the holder. "Just slip it in through this ring and then make sure the little hook catches on one of the side bars. That way she can't get it out as easily and make a mess with it. Not that she won't try."
Water in, dome centered, he looked over at Gany and handed him the bag with her food in it. "Fill up her dish and then you can put her in okay? Also if you've got a sock or something you want to give her go ahead and find it so she can start nesting." he took a step back and let Gany slide along the desk to get the last of the tasks completed.

Putting the waterbottle on didn't seem hard... He nodded at Vaden's statement about her trying to undo it. Why she would, he had no idea, but if Vaden said it would happen he'd be prepared for it. He took the bowl and bag of food, then carefully opened up the bag to scoop some of the food into said bowl... He then placed it into the cage in a spot he thought would do well. "Is this okay?" He tilted his head up at Vaden curiously... and then turned to find one of his old sock creations.
Gany then placed it inside of her cage, and then finally turned back to Rubelite on the bed. The moment of truth. Time to get her out of the box and into the cage. One step closer to her being comfortable enough for playtime. Carefully he undid the top of the box, then opened it up.
Rubelite blinked up at him, but made no move to escape right away. So, Gany carefully placed a hand near her, not wanting to scare her or get bitten... He'd wait for her to come to him, rather than just reach in and grab her.

Vaden peered over his shoulder and then nodded. "Yes that's fine." he then moved out of the way while Gany went to get the piece of clothing and then the rat.
He remained quiet just observing curious about what the child would do, but had to admit he was proud of him, letting the little girl decide to go to him instead of just picking her up. Most kids would have done that, but Gany at least had had some training with Charo prior to this.
He silently urged the rat to go to Gany's hand instead of trying to make a break for it. Fifty-fifty chance really of her doing either, luckily he wasn't a betting man so wasn't going to pick one and would just let the events play out as they would.

He watched her intently, wishing she'd just hurry up and come closer.... after another minute of waiting, the flitterat finally shuffled forward and placed her front paws on his hand. She then sniffed a little before climbing in, then started to climb up his arm, wings fluttering.
"Ah.... she's fast..." Of course, once she got up to his shoulder she attempted to make a break for it, though misjudged where she was going and ended up jumping right at Vaden.

Ah, she'd settled for the age old favorite, both. "Yeah, she is." as she glided towards him he could see the obvious miscalculation in the rat's face as she tried to correct her glide. Vaden took a half step and caught her as she collided with his chest. He put a hand over her to keep her from trying to scurry away or glide again then went over to the cage.
"Sorry, little girl. not today." he positioned his hands in such a way she had no choice but to go in the cage and once she did, he closed the cage and then to avoid any mishaps pulled a very small lock out his pocket and put it on the cage then handed the key to Gany. "If it breaks or you lose it, it's just the kind of lock you find on a diary. I'd suggest getting a few for back up. Now you ever want to see how good she is at escaping then don't put it on, but be prepared to catch her once she's out."
He looked back at the cage and watched the rat investigate her new home.

He froze up, not really able to react when she jumped, but thankfully Vaden had caught her. With a sigh he watched as Vaden put her into the cage, mentally noting the position of his hands. He took the key when it was offered, and then locked the padlock. "Thank you... and I'll get another one. Actually I think I have some more." He nodded, then placed the key in a spot he'd remember, but out of sight from Rubelite.
The rat herself was busy exploring the cage, testing this and that, sniffing the sock creation... eventually she settled on crawling into the dome, away from the prying eyes of the two geists.

Vaden wasn't really surprised Gany had diary locks lying around. He'd always struck him as the type to lock up everything, then again he'd kind of figured that since the first time they met and the child spoke in near monotone all the time. He hoped one day Gany would stop repressing himself so much...it wasn't healthy. Not that he was one to talk.
Vaden watched her quietly with Gany until she disappeared. "I think she's had enough of people for the day." he chuckled as he could see her eyes just peeping out at them. "We can go down to the computer lab at the end of the hall and I can show you those pictures and then I should probably get back to my room and work on a paper that's due next week." he put a hand on Gany's head. "Come on, give her some quiet time."

He nodded, it was clear Rubelite was done for now. Before he agreed to leave, though, he found a piece of paper and wrote "do not disturb" on it, then folded it in half so it would make a little triangle and set it on top of her cage. There. That way if Foras or Ella returned before he did, they'd know not to touch the cage. "Okay, I'd like that." He nodded to Vaden, then started heading for the door, his own hand on top of Vaden's on his shoulder. "What kinda paper do you have to write?"

Vaden watched him make his little sign and resisted the urge to snort. Even with a sign he doubted very much it would stop his roommates from at least trying to peep into the cage to see what was inside. Cages were like magnets for children. What was inside was always of interest no matter what it was.
He guided Gany out and down to the lab and found and empty desk and logged in and then got on the net to find a picture. "Language Arts." he said then shifted so Gany could see the screen. "That is a tourmaline, it comes in lots of colors and this one in particular is rubelite. The spots on her back are about the same color give or take, and it does come in some lighter colors that match up with her fur color as well." he said.

Once in the computer lab, he found himself a chair next to Vaden and scooted a bit closer, peering intently at the screen. Goodness, tourmaline had a lot of colors... but he did really like the way rubelite looked. "I like that one." He nodded, a small grin coming to his face. "You know a lot about minerals, huh." He quirked a brow at Vaden. "Is there one for every color?"
