Hahah ikr? The hype is so real. And well I mean it's pretty easy to replicate Fallout. Like they went with 50s, but we could do anything from that point onwards really.
And yeah, pretty much! Like, instead of it being only guns, there could be magic adepts, shapeshifters, etc. Basically a less cyber, more punk, non-futuristic Shadowrun.
Have you thought about how your world will end? surprised Quiet death, or going out with a bang? emotion_zombie
Honestly, no. I'm good at world-building, but not very good at figuring out what goes on in said worlds. I'm leaning towards wanting it to be a post-apocalyptic scenario, but other than that, I have no idea.
how to make your world end uuuuuugh Or, or it could survive and not go boom or anything like that I was thinking about meteorites but the asteroid room xD Been tossing ideas of bombs around <3

Oh yeah absolutely. Like the only thing I am sold on is bombs. Like either that or nuclear reactor meltdowns, but the former doesn't rely on locations.

Effort thooooo. My internet connection is s**t and it's efforrrrt.
This plot is now three days over the due date - not that I intend to blame any one of you because it seems no-one's been keeping track of anything - and it needs to get done fast.
So, plot. What have we got thus far? If no-one has anything tangible, I will write up a plot, and there will be one round of feedback and adjustments before it goes final.
Is everyone clear? I apologise for the bluntness but we simply do not have the time to do anything but get straight to the point.

Is the most developed plot right now the one Doc suggested on the last page? It seems good, I am just curious how crossovers will work. I think crossovers are one of the best parts of the ball, so how they come about should make sense and be part of the plot, and not just be shoehorned in last minute.
It seems like the weak seams mentioned could also lead to people finding their way into other worlds. I recently reread the Golden Compass series that involves multiple worlds. One way a world was opened was finding a weak point between worlds (the aurora) and sort of blasting through it. There was also a special knife that could cut into other worlds, and sometimes people would find holes left open that the knife barer had not shut.
I just mention the parts from the book hoping they might inspire someone. I'll try to think of something more helpful in the meantime.
Okay, I'm just brainstorming here, but how about this:
There's a company in Gaia messing around with/developing teleportation. They have a prototype machine built. All the science/math/etc. checks out. They've announced their advances to the general public/news outlets, and everyone is excited.
Fast forward to launch day. The machine is being prepared, and all the science guys are like "woah this is gonna be so rad. we love science." The main science guy (probably Bill Nye) gets on stage and is all "hey guys, the public, news guys, are you ready to rock?" He throws up the devil horns and pushes the giant red button, b/c all science devices have a giant red button.
A strong wind picks up. "Oh no," everyone says. "Don't worry," says Bill Nye, "it's supposed to do that! it's like the particles or something!" So the machine starts to power up. It looks super cool, and everyone is like "woah, this looks super cool." But all of a sudden, stuff gets real. Weird lightning shoots around. Matter seems to shift in weird, trippy ways. "This is not what is supposed to happen," Bill Nye says.
Suddenly, there's a flash of light. Everyone feels as if they're falling through pure whiteness. Then, they realize they are no longer in Gaia, nor are they surrounded by the rest of those who had attended the event.
The teleportation device caused a split in the already weak seam of reality that Gaia sits on, sending everyone around (i.e. the guests) into different alternate universes. This rift, consequently, caused these various universes to be pushed towards the brink of extinction. Now the Gaians have to work with the people from these universes to not only get home, but to save their universes in the process.
(Note: This is not a fully fleshed-out theory/plot/thing. I'll develop more of it if you guys think it sounds good.)
I think this is definitely the start of something great. The idea that Gaia sits on a weak seam of reality is very apt considering the kinds of mayhem that goes on in Gaia canonically. I think the biggest issue might possibly be communication between universes? Working out a universal (haha) way to get home seems like it would only really work if there was something to tie each room together (possibly the scientists working out a way to link every universe back to the original one and orchestrating ways for the lost Gaians to get home?). I'm sure you're going to be able to come up with something great, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Okay, so we have Teleporter Accident that tears open rifts in time and space, drops a bunch of people into different worlds, chaos ensues. Good start. We need to decide if this Interdimensional Travel Device is magic or high-end technology, or a mix of the two (personally recommended). Given that this is Mass Teleportation, we need to think about how this would be plausible, most likely something to do with the aforementioned weak seams, or Portal Crossroad World. Gaia's culture is a mishmash of elements from many other worlds so this is very plausible. Crossovers will most likely be necessary given the presumably smaller turnout this year, and it is more fun so I'm all for it. We could have a singular Dimensional Traveler (or a group if needs be) with an agenda that is causing plot points in other universes (this would fit in with my room plot perfectly, I suggest for ease of planning, you all might want to include something similar in your rooms).
Let me know what you think.

Scientists trying to get science and magic to work together makes the rift/teleportation device. while it works its gone haywire so its brought in people from all over gaia not just the people that were planning on being part of the test
"lone traveller" could be one of the people that was actually meant to be apart of the test which is why they have the ability to travel through the dimensions of the ball rooms

Mixing science and magic experimentally, perhaps using a particularly volatile seam for testing. The concept of ley lines could come into play, meaning all the portals are connected and rip open in quick succession, dumping everyone in the closest five universes.
I think a willing participant in a simple test wouldn't have the motive or agenda to go on a multi-dimensional chaos spree, I think we'd need something more than that, but otherwise good so far.
